I NEEDED this novella after the pure emotional turmoil that was ACOWAR, I’m a big character girlie so after lots of plot and an (almost) character death, I needed some cute moments
I totally agree, it was a light hearted / cosy novella 🥰 loved the change in pace and how she ventured to other character perspectives. Great little set up for the next 2 novels imo
"Nesta's the drunk uncle!" Hahahah perfect. I just finished this book a few days ago and it was the one that took me the longest to get into, just because it wasn't gripping. Ultimately glad I did read it though, and I'm glad it's not the last installment.
No because the visual gags and editing that went into this video had me glued to the screen the entire time. I don't care about SJM stuff, but I love your personality and I love your style and sense of humour and this vid is somehow an intensifying of the best parts of the vids I've seen of yours before. Really loved this vid and it gave me a ton of laughs. Keep doing what you're doing man.
You’ll love the next one - spice is escalated, lots of training and fighting, nesta is the main character, there are new characters, and lots of development
I wonder! So far I've related a lot to the commentary, and I did not like ACOSF very much. I didn't hate it. It was just the weakest in the series imo.
I literally just finished this book tonight, lol. I laughed, chuckled, and teared up reading this novella. This series is therapy to me. Exactly what I need to read at this point in my life. This is why we need stories to be told, fiction and nonfiction - to say the things that we cannot and heal the things we struggle with through the lives and experiences of the characters. I will agree though, this book wasn't necessary to carry the plot or the characters. Butttttt... aftermath character interaction and struggles are helpful to see, since the reader, if they are invested in the characters, will appreciate the humanity in the book.
Girl I am telling you BUCKLE UP for this next book!! Your next video is gonna be two hours long for it’s analysis! There are pros, there are cons, there is intensity, there are disappointments, and there are some emotions! It’s epic.
The way I’m so immersed in your editing that during the spicy section I kept thinking ‘omg just drink out of the teacup behind you’ 😭😭😭 took me far too long to remember that you’re not actually in that little room aaaaaa The power you have 🙌
I was nervous getting into this book because of the negative reviews I've heard, but omg I loved it. I was giggling and glued and it truly was a breath of fresh air after so much chaos. I'm so excited to hear what you have to say about ACOSF. I don't care what others say about that book, it is personally my absolute favorite in the series.
My algorithm was really algorithming when I got your videos suggested to me. Like many have said, I came for the guy's perspective on faerie smut but stayed for the honest and thoughtful literary analysis! I did enjoy this book, and it's for many of the reasons you said. You just have to look at it as a Christmas special edition, and accept it for what it is, and not what you want it to be lol. Your editing is a lot of fun, and more importantly, you just seem like a kind and thoughtful person. Keep the reviews coming! Your content is so refreshing!
Incase people don’t know. SJM only signed a contract for ACOTAR to be a triology. The end felt rushed because she wasn’t signed to write more books (and I think Throne of Glass is proof that she needs to be able to write as many books as the story needs). A Court of Frost and Starlight was her fanfic of her own characters that she literally wrote on the side because she wanted to. She literally accidentally drunkly told her editor about it and the plot of ACOSF, and did not even remember doing it until her editor called her later to say the publisher wanted to publish them both. If ACOFAS feels out of place… it literally is. I hate when people call it the “fourth book in the series”. It’s just a fun Christmas themed novella that helps set up ACOSF. It was never meant to be anything else, and I love it for what it is. I will read anything and everything she writes lol 😂
Wow I honestly felt that the Court series was a lot better paced than Throne of Glass, so I am glad to see someone with a different viewpoint on it 👀 The first three/four books for me were great, but Empire of Storms dragged SO BAD for me I am currently on a break before I continue the series. Maybe it was that way for me because I binge-read the entire series in the span of two weeks? I wonder if I had managed to space it out if I would feel different about it, but the constantly changing pov's made my teeth grind. It must be a taste thing, I really appreciated the simplicity of Feyre's single pov, only sometimes interjected with another's pov. I like pov changes but they cannot be every other chapter. Feels like the moment I finally settle down into the character I am suddenly whisked away to do something else, and EoS was shifting every two/three chapters.
@ the POV changes can be a lot. And if I’m being honest it’s been awhile since I read throne of the glass all the way through, and I probably need to revisit it. You binged it all in TWO WEEKS?! That’s impressive! I read them as they were coming out, so it was like one book a year. It didn’t help that I was in college for most of it and it took me the whole year to read the books. I think ACOTAR was very well paced! I mostly was meaning that Crescent City doesn’t feel well paced. I think she either needed to cut some subplots or should have made it 5 books instead of 3. It’s all over the place (you think EoS gives you whiplash just wait till CC2 and 3).
I've been enjoying your take on this series so much! I hope SJM publishes more soon so we don't need to wait too much for your next video after you do ACOSF.
Its the ACOTAR Christmas special. If you want more immersion into the world and the lore, then you should read it. It is fun. There is a setup for Nesta x Cassian, but it is referenced in ACOSF but....I still recommend it. Love the Solstice vibes Christmas 🎁🎄 Cassian and Feyre getting drunk and decorating is a great scene! Where else would we get that? Tip: You need to reduce the sauce amount for the next book.
I just discovered your videos today, and I absolutely enjoy them. I enjoy your honest opinion, how well you’re able to summarize the books. And your analysis of some of the plots. Not to mention the humor is great too. Can’t wait to see what you review next, happy holidays.
You make such genuinely good literally analysis videos, and they’re SO fun to watch. I think you should keep up this video series with a new book series 👀
I don’t think I’ll ever read these just because I don’t think they’re my cup of tea, but I have loved watching your videos about them! So glad you are enjoying the series!
It's so great to have these reviews to watch while i wait for the next books in the series (and CC). TOG is my favourite because it's more epic and keeps you guessing more in my opinion, but i love all smj books and your take on them is very interesting
CARY. THE DRIBBLING SOUND. Mr. Snail I once again finished the book and came right back to your channel. Also, LOVE the use of all the Animal Crossing vibes. 100/10
Hey Cary! I'm SO GLAD to be back watching your videos again! I finished ACOFAS in September, and ACOSF in October. I will definitely watch your ACOSF review this week, for sure! ACOFAS, yeah I was honestly 50/50 about that book. I didn't hate it- I definitely enjoyed the cozy winter/holiday vibes, regardless of reading it in September. I'm Canadian, living in a region with four distinct seasons and love all four, so I can "flip the switch" in my brain quite easily to connect with the seasonal vibes of ANY of them lol On the contrary, the book generally didn't hold my attention most days, and I often skipped days of reading it. I agree with you- with content of this book could have potentially been melded into some of the other books. But whatevs- I also agree with you that at least it wasn't several hundreds of pages lol. I would consider re-reading it during the holiday season sometime, also to see if it hits different after having read ACOSF. Absolutely LOVED the editing in the video, the cozy holiday themed visuals, and the jokes and humor! I'll probably be throwing this on a bunch now to re-watch and listen while doing chores, and enjoying the pretty lights, colors, etc to create a cozy, uplifting, and fun ambiance to make the chores more enjoyable! 😊 I'll be back soon to watch you ACOSF review sometime this week! Fawn 😊🩷
Thank you so much for watching! Someone described it perfectly that it was a one-off episode in the anime where all the characters just hang and do something cozy. Glad you liked the Christmas vibes too! I really wanted to make sure that this video had all the cozy features haha
I have been loving your reviews! This review is my fav bc of your Christmas ACNH background. What a great idea to set the scene sitting in your little island house ❄️ Can’t wait to watch your review of the next book. That one is spiiicaaay!!
“That poor wall…” that got me so much more than it should’ve. I just finished the book literally 10 minutes before watching this. I started CACKLING when u said “that poor wall” in such a way that makes it sounds like it died.
Literally saw this new video pop up last night and was so excited to watch this morning while getting ready for work. I love your reviews of these books and your editing style. Thanks for sharing what you think in such an entertaining way! 😃
I am lovingggg your review series!!! I was in deep grief after finishing ACOFAS today. Even though the ACOTAR world continues in ACOSF and (hopefully) beyond, I am sad to let go of the Feyre/Rhys plot and POV. I guess SJM wrapped up their story, for the most part, and wanted to move on to other characters. (I have heard ACOSF is from Nesta’s POV but haven’t read it yet. Can’t wait to watch your review on that too!) Your reviews are so fun to watch; I have literally laughed out loud many times! In this one, especially when you said, “Comment below, huh?” for the “Would You Rather” involving human vs. fae cycles! The way you said it was just so perfect and I was dying! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 These videos feel like a hilarious, wonderful book club. It’s fascinating how no two people will have the exact same experience/reaction to a story, yet we do often have similarities and overlaps. As many other people have commented, I love your editing and style. I can’t imagine how long it must take to make these videos. Thank you for the joy, laughs, and thoughtful analysis! I hope they make this story into a movie so you can review that too!
Hilarious reviews! Feels like having a friend to share the emotional turbulence this series leaves me hanging in 😂 and totally agree that this book was perfect to read around Christmas. Cosy vibes all over! I'll come back when I've read ACOSF.
I finished this book last week and it put me in a holiday mood. Great video! my favourite part of the video was when you said "can birds even do that?!??!" haha
this is SO good are you kidding meee. Humor hits the spot and reviews are so solid! The flying scene also had me go like "wait what" lol but I do think this book makes sense after ACOWAR to sort of "clean up the characters war traumas" or at least clarify where their at right now headspace wise, in their lives and with each other
I genuinely laugh at the joke and commentary in your videos. Can’t wait for you to do Iron Flame and future ACOTAR books! You should try Gothikana 😂 feel like you analysis would have me in stitches!
I literally finished this book an hour or so ago so this is PERFECT timing, I've basically been reading the series along with you haha I genuinely think this was my favourite book in the series! I really didn't like all the war and political stuff in ACOWAR, it just felt unnecessary and not what I was reading the series for (like no one is reading SJM for those themes, let's be honest). So this book was PERFECT in my opinion. As you said, the characters are what cary (get it) the series.
This was review’s so good!! The locales and backdrops are fine tuned, perfect amount of holiday hook to it! Also, this was my favorite book of the series!!!
i needed this book after ACOWAR. and it's short, so it's just a nice episode to spend time with these characters i love before ACOSF (which turned out to be my 2nd favorite of the series shockingly)
Enjoyed this series of books, but enjoy your reviews and perspective on them even more. I was watching this video with ear buds, broke out into a laughing fit during the spicy segments, and got some very weird looks from my husband who had no idea why I was laughing uncontrollably.
I love your perspective and take on the acotar books! Im currently buddy reading the series with my husband and we're half way through acowar, but we've been watching your reviews after we finish each book!
Excited to watch :) also excited for your thoughts on silver flames!! Have you thought about reading the throne of glass series? I read it after acotar and actually enjoyed it more! 🙈
A lot of people are telling to me to read TOG. I'm not opposed to it but I want to read some other things first so I don't strictly become an SJM reading channel lol
I believe this novella was written before there was officially going to be another installment in the series (since Feyre’s storyline had kinda ended) but I don’t know for certain. Might explain the drift from SJM’s normal style.
i really didn't mind this book, it was a nice setup/refresh before pivoting to a different character focus/perspective in acosf. it felt like the literary version of when rich people used to eat gelato between courses to cleanse the palette.
What perfect timing for this video release! ACOFAS really is the book series version of a tv Christmas special, which I’d never seen done before either. It does feel super random, but having read SF, I still would not say to skip it. It definitely sets up characters and dynamics for the next book. Otherwise, SF would start off pretty confusing and random, missing how we got to certain plot points. I love the menstrual cycle would-you-rather. Personally, I’d much rather deal with it the 2 times a year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh. boy. You should be scared for the next book 😅 idk what comments you’re seeing and I don’t need to - whatever they said, they are not exaggerating!!!⚠️ You’ve been warned lol. CONGRATS on 100K views for ACOTAR 🎉 You deserve every view :)
I love your videos. I have subscribed and look forward to your review of Silver Flame. I am reading it now. It is funny about the time I get done with one of them, you usually drop a new video. Thanks for making these and making them entertaining too.
Cary the Snail: “Do birds even do that?” Funny enough, I remember in Airborn where the cloud leopards would give birth while in flight. Therefore the infant cubs have to learn how to fly while free-falling before going kersplat on the ground.
After the hot mess that went down in the last 100 pages of ACOWAR, I wanted to be done with this series. But this just convinced me to keep reading! Now I need your review on the last book to know if I want to endure another 700+ page book.
If u think that was spicy wait until u see nesta and cassian u will know spice then .I am still completely shocked at how many positions she could fit on one page
I really enjoy this filler-not-so-filler book. It just gives a lot of character relations and development. I think a series needs a book(novella) that goes over the times of peace between conflicts. Some series are just non stop conflict with no peace and relaxation. This book just gives us a break, and let's us relax with the characters. Love it😊
I already have to other option. Endometriosis means I need endone for my periods, but we delay them to 3/4 monthly. I 100% would rather normal and monthly haha
Personally I liked this book. It was a nice breather from ACOWAR. I also like how we got to see more of a personal side of the night court bunch. The best part was the snow ball fight between Rhys, Az, and Cass
I've found it's a consistent thing in romance with lots of strife and inner turmoil to make the holiday break a separate entity between seasons of drama. I appreciate it because I skip holiday specials almost always. If it's a side world where they can all calm down, it's not ruining anything for me if I don't read it.😂
Came for the "faerie smut from a guys perspective", stayed for the genuine literary analysis
Don't we all lol
@@carythesnailare you reading silver flame right now??
Everyone wish Cary luck for Silver Flames 🤭
Cari can read and Cary need to have a crossover episode
“Nesta is the drunk uncle” lmao😂
I NEEDED this novella after the pure emotional turmoil that was ACOWAR, I’m a big character girlie so after lots of plot and an (almost) character death, I needed some cute moments
It's a good palate cleanser
I completely agree, It's a breathe of fresh air
It's just a perfect segue into ACOSF
I totally agree, it was a light hearted / cosy novella 🥰 loved the change in pace and how she ventured to other character perspectives. Great little set up for the next 2 novels imo

he'll need so much hot sauce 💀
You’ve really set the bar for book reviews. Others just aren’t as entertaining. Well done, Mr. Snail! 👏🏻
my periods already almost take me out each month. at the very least gimme some powers to even it out 😭
I literally just finished this book tonight, lol. I laughed, chuckled, and teared up reading this novella. This series is therapy to me. Exactly what I need to read at this point in my life.

I agree. I like what you said about "appreciating the humanity in this book," that's why I enjoyed this one a lot right after ACOWAR
Girl I am telling you BUCKLE UP for this next book!! Your next video is gonna be two hours long for it’s analysis! There are pros, there are cons, there is intensity, there are disappointments, and there are some emotions! It’s epic.
lol I’m pretty nervous! It sounds like it’s gonna be an intense ride
the editing and sound effects are actually amazing - laughed out loud watching this! you deserve so many more views and subscribers, comedy gold! XD
I really appreciate that encouragement, thank you!
I'm so happy he appreciates the absolute cuteness that Elain and Az have going on✨🫶
This is the most excited I’ve been for a video in a long time

I love and really appreciate the care you put into your editing. Your bits are simple enough but are so fun and welcoming
The music, the editing, your well worded opinion - i love this video style of yours. As soon as I finished a book, I get here and watch.

i needed this book after ACOWAR. and it's short, so it's just a nice episode to spend time with these characters i love before ACOSF (which turned out to be my 2nd favorite of the series shockingly)
Enjoyed this series of books, but enjoy your reviews and perspective on them even more. I was watching this video with ear buds, broke out into a laughing fit during the spicy segments, and got some very weird looks from my husband who had no idea why I was laughing uncontrollably.
Lolol
Thank you so much!! Apologize to him for me!
The basketball dribbling sent me 🤣
I love your perspective and take on the acotar books! Im currently buddy reading the series with my husband and we're half way through acowar, but we've been watching your reviews after we finish each book!
Aw that sounds so fun! Thank you for joining me on this journey as well, I hope you both are enjoying! :)
@@carythesnail thank you! I'm just glad my husband is enjoying it more than I anticipated. (Even though he'll never admit it) lol
Not only you're in a snowy ACNH island but also Snowdin Town is playing in the bg??? I wasn't expecting all the warm and fuzzies from a review video 🥺
Can’t wait for you to review acosf
Excited to watch :) also excited for your thoughts on silver flames!! Have you thought about reading the throne of glass series? I read it after acotar and actually enjoyed it more! 🙈
Same here! Would love to see him cover throne of glass (in all its glory) and crescent city (in all its madness)
A lot of people are telling to me to read TOG. I'm not opposed to it but I want to read some other things first so I don't strictly become an SJM reading channel lol
@@carythesnailFourth wing!!!
Almost done with it!
@@carythesnailexcited for whatever you decide to put out!!
5:37 remember brauna and dagden? No.
lol
Yes I am near boys for SF lol.
Thank you so much!! Never expected the video to reach that many views!
I’m three seconds in and this is already everything that I’ve ever wanted
I cannot wait for you to read ACOSF 😱 I just finished it and it’s my favourite of the series!
I love your videos. I have subscribed and look forward to your review of Silver Flame. I am reading it now. It is funny about the time I get done with one of them, you usually drop a new video. Thanks for making these and making them entertaining too.
Thank you so much for joining me! SF is gonna happen soon but I do have a couple other books to try before then ;)
Unpopular opinion: yes, this novella is necessary. It sets up for the next book in many ways.
I read this book during the winter solstice and it was perfect for the season. It just made me feel extra cozy :D
the breaks during the ✨spice✨ makes me laugh so hard omg
honestly, your use of Skyrim music alone had me subbed
Cary the Snail: “Do birds even do that?”
Funny enough, I remember in Airborn where the cloud leopards would give birth while in flight.
This man is a gem and must be protected at all costs 💙
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ah my favourite, man reads Sarah J Maas smut while dying of consumption ❤
If u think that was spicy wait until u see nesta and cassian u will know spice then .I am still completely shocked at how many positions she could fit on one page
I really enjoy this filler-not-so-filler book. It just gives a lot of character relations and development. I think a series needs a book(novella) that goes over the times of peace between conflicts. Some series are just non stop conflict with no peace and relaxation. This book just gives us a break, and let's us relax with the characters. Love it😊
A Court of Silver Flames next! And maybe after that Throne of Glass series?
I loved this book, just spending time with the characters and seeing this part of them up close.
My favorite book in the acotar series so far; yet to read the final installment !
love the Minecraft fire lmao
It's the coziest
i think it was a really cute way to focus on the inner circle js being a family
Love your reviews! 😂😊❤️
Please read the Crescent City series by SJM and do reviews for those as well! Would love to watch your analysis on those!
So excited for when you do Acosf
It's my favourite in the series
I’m so curious what your thoughts will be on ACOSF!! It’s tied with ACOMAF as my favorites of the series 😬
I already have to other option. Endometriosis means I need endone for my periods, but we delay them to 3/4 monthly. I 100% would rather normal and monthly haha
Get ready to drink half that hot sauce with the next one .... Lol
Personally I liked this book. It was a nice breather from ACOWAR. I also like how we got to see more of a personal side of the night court bunch. The best part was the snow ball fight between Rhys, Az, and Cass
Can’t wait for your review of the next one😂
Def Christmas vibes 👀 I just finished reading it. It was appreciated
Watched all the videos. New subscriber now!
The next book is my fave next to the second one and nesta became my favourite character can’t wait to see your reaction
Weird. I checked your channel earlier today to see if you had finished the next one yet. I’m in your head man.
You caught me
CHOP CHOP SNAIL BOY! I NEED SILVER FLAMES 😭
I've found it's a consistent thing in romance with lots of strife and inner turmoil to make the holiday break a separate entity between seasons of drama. I appreciate it because I skip holiday specials almost always. If it's a side world where they can all calm down, it's not ruining anything for me if I don't read it.😂
