I’m crying at the Azriel fighting clip lmao goodbye. Lucien deserves the world I love him. You need to do ACOSF and just eat a handful of ghost peppers
Also I beg please read Azriels bonus chapter from ACOSF, you can find it online. The him and Elain thing is basically he’s just horny and wants a mate but there’s also *someone else* that pops up that is literally Azriels equal in every way. I personally love her and would die for her. The way the bonus chapter ends is setting up their relationship and ending whatever people saw in Elain and him
@@carythesnail 😈😈😈 listen, ACOSF is the spiciest so far but also I cried the most reading it. Some people think there’s too much spice but I actually love the plot, especially the friendship that happens! I ship Azriel with therapy first and foremost but I also ship him with one of Nestas friends 🤠. Cant wait for you to read it if you do! We also get to see Cassian be a real himbo and it just… I love that big idiot
I liked it the most probably because of that 😂. ACOTAR was sold to me as fairy smut, and the series mostly read as trauma for me. ACOSF hit on the fairy smut level, like, HARD, and it also had a believable character arc that made me love Nesta when originally I wanted her to fall off the cliff. Plus I loved the secondary characters and the while fear metaphor play.
Serious analysis of SJM's writing was something I never knew I needed. Not that rant reviews aren't funny and overly enthusiastic reading vlogs aren't entertaining, but you're the first one actually making me want to read them! Also love your humor.
Hearing the way some reviewers shit-talked the books back in the day made me actually want to read it 😂 and it's because, like you said, it wasn't a proper analysis. Not done in good faith. I wanted to see for myself.
Pacing issues is a huge SJM problem. She really just can't do it well lol. It shows up even worse in acosf than it did in acowar. Another huge problem i have with this series (even though its very fun and i do enjoy it) is SJM's reliance on the "fake death/ressurection" trope. I think it worked very well in acotar when feyre died and was brought back, but thats where it ends. Imo you only get to use this trope ONE time before it starts to negatively affect your story. I agree that amren should have stayed dead, her sacrifice was beautiful and by bringing her back it negated the emotional impact of her moment. And i hate that SJM used rhys that way. If youre not willing to COMMIT to killing your character, DONT TRY! the whole moment pissed me off for a number of reasons (its so hypocritical of rhys after all he and feyre have been through) and it ruined the end of acowar for me. All in all, i do love these books, its just so easy to find their faults when you step back 😂
Yeah I completely agree. I think the death fake out in ACOTAR worked quite well, but here it was leaned on way too much and took a lot of the air out of the impact
The one man production that is you acting out specific parts of the story, coupled with edits of yourself sitting in tiny form on top of the actual book is utterly amazing and has me laughing so freaking hard! 😂😂
These are the best reviews on the books around! It’s refreshing to see a guy so into them plus it’s not a bunch of hate, hate, and MORE hate! And the spice segment is unique. It’s definitely my favorite part of these videos. Also love the editing 👌🏼 10 outta 10
I love how wholeheartedly you meet these books on their levels! It's sad to think about, but men engaging with media made for women without only making fun of it and trashing because it's made for women is so rare 😭That isn't to say that one can't critize them, but it's rough when most videos is making fun, rather than engaging with them on their own level. Thank you! And the production values on all of your videos are still amazing! Edit: I just wanna say I read these books twice and I don't like them lol, but I will defend the women and men that do, because they are fun when they're not taken seriously
Thank you, I really appreciate that! I know a lot of people really like these books and I want to do my best to be open to them and take them seriously
If Lucien is in fact Helions son then he would be the sole heir to the day court! Thats why thats so important 😊 especially since hes basically been exiled by his family and the autumn court.
Briaxis (the Library entity) is not a sibling to the Bone Carver and the Weaver. The being that controls the Firebird Queen is their sibling. It was mentioned but briefly in this book. More on him in ACOSF - the spiciest of them all.
She killed off Rhys only to bring him back FROM THE DEAD in the NEXT chapter using the super rare way that is never used except 6 months ago for his mate. Oh and ambiguously bring someone else back from the dead with him. I was so mad at this. I hated this book😅 but love your reviews!!
Yes!!! I thought it was interesting in ACOTAR because it was the main character and she was up against someone she wouldn't have escaped from alive. Her resurrection also had impact on the courts, unifying them (even for a brief moment) to help a human (something some of them didn't care for). So it showed their humanity and a slither of hope that maybe they could unify for a common cause, even if it was just a human life. It also changed her, gave her powers and a suddenly immortal life. Something we could explore later. But Rhys!! He may as well just gone unconscious and then woken up again. His death had no impact on the plot. He wakes up and is the same, says he doesn't even have parts of their power. Nothing changed! (Unless I find out in the next book hes lying and actually does have their powers) And Amren even had a good death, unleashing herself at her own cost, helping strike the final blow that finished off Hybern. (Even tho I'm a little unsure why she disappeared). And then she's just brought back, all good. The only difference is that she's just a high fae. Which on another note; the title 'High Fae' starts to become less impressive when everyone in the story just start receiving it like free lollies.
I loved this book right up until that part. Like ok. He lives. Whatever. But why did Amren… how is the magic just that strong… it’s still my favorite of the books though.
Love watching Feyre’s growth in this book, she totally kicks butt in book 3. And her sisters as well. I really enjoy watching how Sarah’s characters grow over the 3 books. Agree every visit to a new court is super interesting for me too. I loved the meeting with all the High Lords, it had all the drama we expected lol. Yep that final battle was just epic and dramatic. I love that she didn’t kill off any of our favorite characters, only the ones we weren’t really attached too.
I do not enjoy SJMs habit of keeping all the (favorite) characters. For me it undermine the stakes she is setting. The believability of "omg, the greatest most deadly mega battle" is missing, when only random soldiers and minor charactets bite the dust. I'm glad to hear other people can enjoy this style! What would you think of this idea? A fav character dies in some kind of way and instead of bringing him back instantly (because Feymagic) he stayes dead to the end of the book. Then the impact of his death can hit the world and the readers. In a later installment a squad can go on a (difficult) revival mission. We would get death (stakes, tension, grief, consequences) and our faves (love, drama, happy ends) plus another adventure.
Maybe I’m watching way too many deep dives into romantacy books, but I appreciate that you understand that if we are at Wings and Ruin we know whats going on. 😂 quickly going over the plot to then go over your thoughts
Totally agree with your point about the Ourobouros!!! I wish we had gotten more about that moment - it definitely left me wanting more! Amazing video as always 🙌🏼
I love this Cary 😂 it's so entertaining after finishing the book last night - but I MUST SAY THIS... how did we not talk about the Suriel whatsoever!? 😩
new to your channel and i just watched all three of your ACOTAR series in a row for the first time :-) you have super refreshing takes, a unique perspective, a super fun style of editing, and just fun videos on this book series in general. i read the books a while ago and always go back and forth on my opinions on them. honestly, i just think they’re an overall enjoyable read and a good way to get a lot of people back into reading or just into fantasy in general. i hope you get around to the fourth book! i think you’d enjoy it, and that it’s centered around nesta
These are so much fun to watch! Can't wait for you to read the next book and when you finish it you'll undeniably want to read "Throne of glass" and then the fun will begin😂
@@carythesnail I did love ACOTAR, had similar views of it as you so i was convinced to read TOG and man i hated it... Very clearly written by a teenager. There's this thing SJM does where she makes all the main characters the 'most attractive, amazing, magical, powerful people ever to exist' which i don't like, and it is extremely so in TOG, so just a warning. Idk if you should trust the hype for it

I love these reviews. I started reading the series because of them and this is the last one I ended up reading. I stopped I think halfway through. Pretty much all the stuff you pointed out is what got me. I would say that I always viewed Azriel and Elaine as more of an sibling-type thing, but I can see what other people are getting there. Whether or not though, I can't wait for your next video on the series!
YES! I read Sarah's books to learn and get to know new characters! i'm not someone to pick apart the magic dynamics or the background lore, I want to get to know new characters and i love how dynamic they all are each with strength and weaknesses and their own personal goals relationships and feelings.
I'm so pleased with the Animal Crossing music in the last video and then the Skyrim music in this one. Both games are so dear to me and even hearing the music unexpectedly was such a shot of dopamine for me 😊
I was looking forward to this! Really like your take on the trilogy. These are the only books I've read from SJM as of now and I agree with your assessment. Particularly about the concepts that could have been expounded. A little tea from the book comm: What I found out is that she is building some sort of multiverse in her different series so where Bryaxis ends up will be interesting if you pick up her other books. Loved the meeting with the High Lords, though. That was like watching a reality TV smackdown. So much drama, and I'm here for it! Nesta's story is in A Court of Silver Flames, which I heard is very satisfying for Nesta fans. I heard it's also has the most spice in the series so I wish you the best if you try to take that one on. 😂
i really love this review, it was so well structured and almost convinced me to re-read the books, but then i remembered the extensive monstrosity that is my to be read (tbr) list 😅
I just finished ACOWAR last night and was so excited that I finished it since it ment I could finally watch your review 😭😂I highly agree on all of your points, some parts felt very rushed or even forgotten (like poor Lucien; the man got warped out of the story midway and only returned in like, the last 40 pages??) and likewise my favorite character is now probably Nesta haha. She's just a lot of fun to follow, she's shrouded in mystery and quite a prick but she's slowly opening up to Cassian and the others. Her growth in this book was honestly the most interesting part to me, asides from Feyre spying at the Spring court and then eventually escaping with Lucien. I'm gonna start reading book 4 now so I can soon watch your review on that one too :)
The thought of someone walking in on me while you’re reading the spicy parts, not knowing you ate something spicy and they just think you’re really intoooo it is so funny to me hahah
It ended too happily ever after for me. I wanted Ameren to stay "dead" and the idea of putting her back into a fae body down the line is SUCH a good one. When they shredded Cassian's wings, they should have stayed shredded. A story arc of Cassian struggling to come to terms with that would have been heartbreaking and emotional
Ooh, a new acowar video from the snail??👀 What a treat! I love these deep dives. With the mirror, I think it’s so funny because everything you were saying you wanted to see is the message that I felt like I had gotten, which is why I liked it lol. I do agree that it felt rushed though. And I think you’re absolutely spot on with point about there being so much going on with the plot that there weren’t fully fleshed-out, beautifully scenic, standout moments like we saw in the first 2 books. That’s why, despite it being good, acowar is one of my least favorites of the series. It’s very war focused, which just isn’t my thing. Love hearing hearing your takes! Thank you for another great video :)
@@carythesnail of course! :) I’ll be sticking around hoping for videos on the whole series lol. Interested to see what you think of the problem child (ACOFAS) 😅 I love your takes, video formats and humor. Keep up the great work!
I absolutely agree with the fact that Sarah J.Maas actually built too much tension for a war that wasn’t satisfying enough. She could haveput more effort into it and I also think that Amren staying dead would have been a good choice, in order to have that effect on the reader. I think it would have an even more tremendous effect if Rhys had died as well, but to be honest…I wouldn‘t have taken it. The problem with so many good books is that they ALWAYS kill off the best characters for a great effect. And while that is a great strategy, it still often emotionally hurts me to ALWAYS see my favourite characters die. So it’s nice to see one of them survive for a change…
Yeah, I was actually waiting the entire book for her trip to get the ouroboros mirror and was extremely disappointed with how little of a description we were given of it.
I've been enjoying reading this series so much so far and always rate each book a 5/5 as soon as I'm done but I'm biased I think and its helpful to me to hear reviews like this 😅
I think the thing with their dad coming in at the very end and then dying right there mirrored the main characters’ life with him as well, he was very absent and then right when they find he’s coming back and making a stand of how much he loves them he dies… there’s no closure, it’s traumatic, and the way it’s told I think helps us connect with how devastated Nesta is by it, she wanted nothing to do with him
Ah I enjoyed these reviews so much. I have read the first book at the cusp of adulthood, and though I have read female-centric books before this was something new for me. Refreshing to see a man not trash on it immediately ! And I agree, in terms of best to "eh not so great but still enjoyable" it's 2nd, 1st, and then 3rd book 👍 I enjoyed the themes of Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella for the first book which is what elevates it for me, but the Feyre's character arc of the second book shot it to the moon for me.
I would be just fine if you reviewed all of these spicy fantasy booktok books. Throne of Glass series, Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Powerless, How Does It Feel...
i’m reading TOG rn at the same time as ACOTAR. and her pacing in ACOTAR is so bad compared. idk how she lost it but in TOG it’s so much better. PLEASEEEE READ 🙏🏼 ur fantasy book reviews so far are so good and i love ur humor

Thank you so much for joining me again! I've seen a lot of people reading a long with me, which is so cool! I hope you like ACOFAS
The Skyrim in the background 😂
No! No! We do NOT ship Elainriel! We ship Gwynriel. Just get to ACOSF and you’ll get it ;)
The thought of someone walking in on me while you’re reading the spicy parts, not knowing you ate something spicy and they just think you’re really intoooo it is so funny to me hahah
Lol that’s hilarious, I didn’t even think about how weird that would be 😂
You’re welcome to whoever walks in on you watching this
I love watching your videos after I finish each book!! You’re so handsome and funny
i was waiting for this impatiently !!!!!
First time commenting, this series review is great!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate you saying that!
The fact I found his first video yesterday and now got the third book video 😫 blessed fr
Good timing!!
The Skyrim music in the background was perfect
Thank you so much for watching again! :)
@@carythesnail of course! :) I’ll be sticking around hoping for videos on the whole series lol. Interested to see what you think of the problem child (ACOFAS) 😅 I love your takes, video formats and humor. Keep up the great work!
The Skyrim music in the background just makes it even better 😂😂😂
I CAN ONLY FOCUS ON THE SKYRIM MUSIC LOL love these vids so much
Lol, thank you, I really appreciate that!
I just found your channel and i am living for these hot sauce spice seasons!!! 😝
16:36 the music 😂
OMG, how am i discovering his channel now! This is awesome.
I hope you read the other ones as well, a court of frost and starlight, which is a short one, and a court of silver flames, which deals with Nesta!
Yeah, I was actually waiting the entire book for her trip to get the ouroboros mirror and was extremely disappointed with how little of a description we were given of it.
I love this these videos so much! The Nesta and Elaine reenactment had me 😂. Do you plan to do any other book series after this one?
Thank you!! Others are in the works!
I love the persona music during the spicy part hahaha
I've been enjoying reading this series so much so far and always rate each book a 5/5 as soon as I'm done but I'm biased I think and its helpful to me to hear reviews like this 😅
Acosf is my favorite book. I cant wait for you video of that. 😊
I hear that I'm in for it with that one lol
go off king 👑. ur an icon per usualllll
I think the thing with their dad coming in at the very end and then dying right there mirrored the main characters’ life with him as well, he was very absent and then right when they find he’s coming back and making a stand of how much he loves them he dies… there’s no closure, it’s traumatic, and the way it’s told I think helps us connect with how devastated Nesta is by it, she wanted nothing to do with him
the reenactment of cass, lucien, and azriel LOOOL
Ah I enjoyed these reviews so much. I have read the first book at the cusp of adulthood, and though I have read female-centric books before this was something new for me. Refreshing to see a man not trash on it immediately ! And I agree, in terms of best to "eh not so great but still enjoyable" it's 2nd, 1st, and then 3rd book 👍 I enjoyed the themes of Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella for the first book which is what elevates it for me, but the Feyre's character arc of the second book shot it to the moon for me.
Best reviews for these. I agree with you on all of it and you’re super funny.
Now you GOTTA do Fourth Wing I gotta know what you think of it!!!
It’s happening
what do you mean he's not actually a little guy sat between the pages giving me a review
Lol
I NEED you to read Spark of the Everflame! Looove your reviews!
Anyone else want Elain to get her own "why chose?" storyline with Az and Lucien?! Just me???
That’s what I’ve been saying! It could be so perfect if SJM wasn’t such a coward lol
Awesome! I'm gonna have to pause watching and listening to these now, until I finish the last two books! 😊
This is my favorite review of the series so far 😂😂
The Skyrim music makes this 10000% better
Yesss someone else putting respect on my main girl Nesta's name 14:15
I need a review of Silver Flames!
The Skyrim music in the beginning is haunting me.
This content is some of the smartest funniest stuff 😂
Love the Skyrim music in the background
The Skyrim combat music💀
Okay, Im listening to the third video of yours in a row THAT'S IT I'M SUBSCRIBING
"coming in handy" you just got a new subscriber sir 🤣
Dude the nesta and elain impressions😭🤣🤣🤣I can’t 😂😂😂
Agree I thought the resurrection for Rhys at the end was a bit cheesy as she used it in book 1.
i absolutely love your content
19:34 the fast clarification 😂
I would be just fine if you reviewed all of these spicy fantasy booktok books. Throne of Glass series, Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Powerless, How Does It Feel...
I'm gonna be eating more hot sauce than Sean Evans..
i’m reading TOG rn at the same time as ACOTAR. and her pacing in ACOTAR is so bad compared. idk how she lost it but in TOG it’s so much better. PLEASEEEE READ 🙏🏼 ur fantasy book reviews so far are so good and i love ur humor
THANK YOU. Between crescent city and ACOTAR TOG is by far my fave and better than all the books she has so far
GIRL JUST WAIT FOR THE LAST BOOK!!! (I don’t really care for that random tiny book in the middle of everything, it didn’t really do anything for me) BUT THE LAST ONE!! DAMN. SO MANY EMOTIONS A LOT GOOD, A LOT SAD, A LOT SPICY! ANDDD A LOT ANGRY * see ending *
I’ve been hearing a lot of intense things, and I know I’m gonna have to prepare myself haha
I've been having fun watching this series, but when you said, "Dean," I had to subscribe right away
i can’t want for him to read acosf 🥵🔥🌶️
