    One thing that happened to me when a man complimented me. I was doing a needlepoint project at work on my break and the owner of the company happened to come in and said, "I have to say that is something I just don't see anymore - a woman sewing." He just beamed me a big smile and I felt wonderful and proud to be a woman.

    Well Nikki, I broke my toe and am covered in ozzing poison ivy, and I just wasn't feeling it. But as I listened to you today, and looked out the window and saw my beautiful peonies. Yes, now I am inspired to go out and bring the beauty indoors! Thanks!

      I’m still recovering from the worst poison ivy I’ve ever had from a week and a half ago. But bringing in that beauty and having it to look at sure would help with feeling better, I think. I hope you heal much quicker than I have and never get it again!

    I have found it to be true when you take care of yourself it starts spilling out into taking good care of your surroundings and setting the mood for your home. Same as the reverse. The environment becomes the lady.

    You are such an inspiration💗
    I’m 26 years old and married. I have been on my journey to be more feminine the last 2 years. While I was pregnant I felt God tell me to get rid of my jeans and mostly wear dresses and skirts. I got rid of my 20+ jeans. I now only own 2 jeans and some linen pants. I don’t even miss jeans!! But it is true, when wearing dresses people just treat you differently and I feel differently as well! Since becoming a SAHM and now 10 month PP I am really trying to get dressed everyday even if I don’t go anywhere. It makes all the difference!

    I just found something easy and inexpensive to do. Have a on your tea cup saucer. That way you don't have to hear the clink all the time, it will catch the drips, and it looks so cute like a high end restaurant. You can use one on the saucer and one to place your spoon on. Or just use one for a treat or snack. Also, I would kind of like to try cloth lace placemates for a change.

    I've been loving your videos of late. They are such a wonderful encouragement to dress and act as a lady in a day when it is not popular.
    Men can easily recognize the difference between a woman and a lady. My husband certainly does and appreciates when a woman acts (and dresses) as one. He treats all women with respect, but he occasionally comments about how much more attractive skirts and dresses are on women compared to slacks/jeans and leggings. I don't think most women today value the kind of treatment and respect that men are ready to give to us when we truly act as ladies.

    • @pinkroses135
      @pinkroses135 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It does set a higher standard and encourage them to step up

    • @lindahenderson1625
      @lindahenderson1625 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I agree. I am treated very respectfully by men in public. I wear dresses or skirts and blouses.
      And I smile.
      I don’t see such treatment as much for the ladies in baseball caps, sweats, leggings and baggy clothes.
      As you’ve mentioned,Nikki, basic neutrals are everywhere on women.
      They can be used as a basic color scheme for your clothes, try adding color with accessories. It is amazing to see the power of color, be it pastels as you prefer, Nikki,or bright as I prefer.
      When we act and behave like ladies , men are encouraged to behave as gentlemen. Women set the stage whether they are aware of that or not.
      Treating men respectfully and courteously shows them how such treatment can make you feel.
      Let’s be the example.
      I saw a lovely young lady today in a sundress and white T shirt. I told her how pretty she looked. She beamed and thanked me.
      Her grandfather smiled at her, with pride.
      My parting thoughts are, we are women, dress like one (even in jeans or slacks if that is your preference).
      Wear a pretty colored shirt or blouse.
      Find your style. I love Nikki’s style, but it is not me. I am tailored in my clothing taste.
      With a little effort I think that we can all benefit from Nikki’s philosophy on being ladies.
      Thank you , Nikki, once again for all that you do on behalf of womanhood.
      pride in being a woman.

    I have ALWAYS wanted a "dressing table," but I have only ever seen them in movies and on TV. I remember the one Grace used in Annie when they were getting ready to go to the movies. Heck, even Madam Medusa in The Rescuers had one and I certainly wouldn't call HER feminine! Perhaps someday I, too, shall have one.

    I have a lovely lace evening dress. I bought it for our Silver Wedding Anniversary, so it is very special to me.
    I occassionally wear it at home in the evening, as we have dinner - just because. I have nowhere else to wear it.
    Watching Downton Abbey inspired me as the ladies always changed into evening dresses for dinner and I always thought it was such a fun idea and evening dresses look nice in candle light.
    The dress has a zip in the back, so I have to ask my husband to zip it up for me.
    This simple act, as I hold my hair out of the way, always feels so feminine and glamorous - just like in the movies and my husband's eyes always light up. I guess he enjoys it too :)
    And then at the end of the evening, I have to ask him to unzip it, which he enjoys again too............
    Hmmm.......I think I might treat myself to a couple more evening dresses.
    Not sure what my neighbours will think. I live in an apartment and the other night set my dinner table nicely, and lit my 5 candle candelabra. As I sat down at the table, I noticed a young man out on the balcony opposite and saw him looking in at my candles. He probably thought what the heck? Is this a period drama?
    My lifestyle is usually pretty casual, but occassionally I do like to dress up and have a glamorous evening at home, just for fun.
    Nikki, do you have any evening dresses and change for dinner? If not, try it and suprise your husband and children.
    You never know they may join in too.
    I forgot to add, does anyone watch "The Chateau Diairies" about an English Lady who bought a chateau?
    My Aunt and two cousins are fans and we all went to stay for one night at the chateau last summer.
    Before dinner I washed and styled my hair and my cousins too and we all wore nice evening dresses to dinner. All the other guests dressed up too. We had pre-dinner drins on the terrace and sat down to dinner at a beautifully laid table. We all felt very glamorous and it was a very special evening.

    I have always had a vanity. I just moved in a new home with a huge master bathroom (double sink), and it is just me. So, I arranged my countertop and drawers like my vanity and ordered a really pretty counter stool. This is my first time in a long time getting ready in the bathroom. But right now, so far so good. Nikki, could you make a video or two about wardrobe during the maternity phase? I’m currently 5 months pregnant with my second, my first is 20 months old. I started purchasing more dresses between these pregnancies and was feeling very confident but now I’m kind of at a loss. I have some maternity dresses but when I’m pregnant I tend to just feel fat. I want that confident feeling back but I don’t want to spend much since this phase of my life won’t last very long (we’ll probably have one or two more). Any advice?

    • @TheLadyoftheHouse
      @TheLadyoftheHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your request! I've talked about this in the past, I'm not sure what video though. I would focus on wrap styles as well as empire waist styles to accommodate a growing belly but they also look great during the postpartum phase. Depending on the length, they can look very elegant and offer plenty of coverage. Focus on beautiful colors that lift your spirit and lovely earrings with a hairstyle that's effortless looking and also lovely.

    The funny thing is.... When i was 14 to 18, I was choosing the feminine niceties that spoke to me. I had the vintage nightgowns and the candles in my bedroom, the beautiful comforter on my bed and i was choosing dress fabrics that i actually liked and looked good on me. I dont know what changed. 😂
    I dont care for attention from men. My husbands attentions are satisfactory enough. 😂 i have had random commenta about looking like a lady and that they appreciate it that.
    One fella thanked my husband for getting the car door for me. I think men need to hear that from other men these days.
    I feel that we mothers and ladies of the house need to be teaching our sons how to be worthy gentlemen, men of God, and or daughters how to be ladies of the house and worthy daughters of the King. We have lost a lot when we transitioned feom women at the helm of the home to women in the work place.... And while I know not all women can be or want to be in the home, it IS important that at least SOME of us are carrying on the tradition and shaping the future for further endurance of the beauty of homemaking.
    I used to say " im just a homemaker "but my husband would say " just nothing! You ARE what keeps us alive and thriving! If it werent for you, we wouldn't be! " and he is right, if therea no one doing those mundane, thankless necessities, it would slowly crumble to nothing. So why NOT us? And why shouldnt it start with us embracing our delicious feminism in decadent nightwear, and then clothing ourselves in beauty and grace while we keep the home fires burning and create a space of rest and retreat for our precious family?.
