Hi Juanita, I have no earthly idea how you did this! We were freezing in Scotland! We had lived in Buffalo, New York growing up, but I don't think even that prepared us for winter in Scotland! We did warm up while taking our brisk walks, but even indoors I wore winter clothes plus a scarf and sometimes my jacket! Thanks for watching! -Judy

Dundee very rarely gets a decent dump of snow. The sea air is saturated in salt so it melts almost immediately.

I also live in Broughty Ferry and we love to do USA road trips. It was great to hear about our home town from other travellers. We don't always visit things in our own back yard! The weather in April and May was really cold and yuk this year - it's usually much nicer. Iced Gems is where my friend and I usually have coffee but she had to close due to family circumstances. She will be missed. Enjoyed your video.

We loved Broughty Ferry! Thank you so much for watching! We were so sad to hear that Nicki had to close her shop. It truly breaks my heart. I heard that someone was supposed to take it over, so I'd love to get an update, because darn it, we would visit Broughty Ferry just to eat her scones (if she's sharing her recipes with the new owners). I am SO bummed I didn't ask for them while we were there-although they could be super secret recipes! It's encouraging to know that the cold weather was not typical; we really thought it would be a nicer time of year to visit. Regardless, we loved the promenade and had such good walks there. We so appreciate that you took the time to comment! -Judy

Thank you so much for watching! I can't express how much we enjoyed our time in Broughty Ferry. We are so disappointed to hear about Iced Gems. 💔 Nicki had mentioned a few of the family issues she was dealing with, but what a loss for your entire community. We ate there every day (except Sundays when it was closed). It was the perfect place to start our day and definitely colored our experience in the best ways. In fact, I recently mentioned in La Famiglia, our new community forum, that one of the things I have been craving recently is a scone from Iced Gems. Your beautiful city deserves some beautiful weather! We definitely have plans to continue to explore more of Scotland. We have an episode from Edinburgh on our channel, and have visited Islay and the Highlands (before we started this channel), but we still need to visit Skye, and many more places in your beautiful country! Maybe not better, but we can get pretty decent croissants/pain au chocolate in other parts of the world, including Italy. Seems like a relaxing and enjoyable place to wind down and explore at your own pace, including interesting side trips to towns / cities nearby. I can imagine myself enjoying such a vacation ! 😊 Btw, a map would have been useful at the start of the video to show the location of Broughty Ferry relative to Edinburgh, Dundee, etc. My interest was piqued at the end of your video, and I had to scramble to look for a map to put together the different geographical pieces of your video puzzle, hahaha 😊. Broughty ferry is part of Dundee, it’s not its own entity. Signs coming into it say welcome to Dundee (from the Angus end), it has Dundee area code (01382) it has a Dundee derived postcode (DD5), it’s covered by Dundee city council for all public sector stuff and the xplore dundee buses cover the route down there. The only people who want to class Broughty ferry as its own entity are the ones that live or lived there and want to think of themselves as being better than other Dundonians. If you visit Broughty ferry, you just visited a part of Dundee, no different than if you visited Dundee city centre, the west end, or any other scheme (ardler, kirkton, fintry, Douglas, etc) 👍🏻

    • @FindingGinaMarie

We were being specific in our video. We stayed in Broughty Ferry, which is a suburb of Dundee. It's got its own unique feel, even if it's part of Dundee. I'm sure that each of those areas that you are mentioning has its own unique feel as well. From our own experience, Broughty Ferry had its own vibe that was different from downtown Dundee and the marsh areas that we visited. The part of the coastline and the restaurants created a unique experience. Thanks for watching. -Judy
