Mick's best solo song, hands down. "Wandering Spirit" is an absolutely excellent album and blows away every Stones release since Bill Wyman, except maybe "A Bigger Bang." His voice was at its peak during this time - so rich, so soulful and tight, still retaining that raw sleaze but with more control and technical finesse. His falsetto never sounded stronger.
Actually I think Goddess in the Doorway is his best album. Lots of great creative contemporary songs. This one had a few

Mick Jagger evolved , he embraced changes and adapted he was able to balance being mick Jagger and being a frontman. As a solo artist he was his own person and you could tell by the music that was a Jagger record and not the stones. The guy is limitless.

The outro from 3:16 on is one of Mick's most animal-sounding sequences ever - he sounds like the chief of a monkey flock egging on one of the females of his clan. Incredibly raw voice, and *that* honking saxophone against the laid-back congas beat...it's a bit of supreme lewdness. I used to think he was singing "Yank it up! Yank...it..UP! / Rah, rah rah my sweet thing..." 😄

@stnsfan54 yes wondering spirit is an amazing Jagger solo album it does sound better then anything the stones did in recent years and I love The Stones very much there my favorite band well I bet if Mick tried who knows he probably whould have been a great solo artist he never gave it a chance he had a band called the Red Devils and he made an amazing album that should have been released and to this day it has never been released before I whould buy it
They played this in the first hour of most nightclubs in 1992 before the latest house remixes would take off!! It was such a great time back then, when we had residential nights, no mobile phones, no internet, no satellite TV.
I'm so sad for you... 'Workout' by Frankie Knuckles; 'A Deeper Love' by C&C Music Factory; 'Make It Mine' by The Shamen; 'Carry On' by Martha Wash; 'Pennies From Heaven's by Inner City... I think you lucked out if you were going to clubs where they played Mick Jagger in 92. 92 was part of the golden age for dance music... Sasha, Digweed, Oakenfold, Todd Terry, Warp Records,... SO MANY great things going on back then...

I said they played Mick Jagger along with other chart music in their original versions, until the house DJs the same night took on the decks by about midnight or 1am. I loved this gentle warm up and build up. And yes of course I loved, collected, and DJed myself to Knuckles, Morales, Hurley, Terry, and co. Late 80ies/early 90ies was the best for dance music.
