Hi Isabel, we live in the rural countryside and I completely understand your problem with the hose freezing. I Want to give you a solution to your hose freezing situation. You can buy pool noodles and slide the hose into it. Or you can buy a similar looking insulation wrap that looks like the pool noodles at Canadian tire. We use it in the winter to prevent our well line from freezing. We learned this the hard way and had to pay a few hundred dollars to have our hoses steamed to unblock them in the middle of winter because our lines froze and we could not get water to our home. I hope this helps.
Some advice from one off grider to another. Collect your firewood during the day. I personally collect enough firewood to last 24 hours each day. That way your wood is right there when you need it. Also I found using a propane torch helps get the fire going super fast.
"A great journey lies ahead for you-a journey that will be challenging and remarkable, a journey that will affirm your deeper nature, a journey that will free you from the bondage of your own ideas and obligations to others, a journey that will take you beyond dependency into a truly independent state and beyond this into a state where you can become interdependent with others. It is in this stage of interdependence that real relationships are established and true devotion can arise." Cold water ? You've never been in ah mountain stream fresh from the source, it is so-o-o-o-o-o cold, you pretty much go numb, immediately, and it will suck the breath right out of ya. You're body goes into shock, and "do not" stand up, once you're under, stay there and enjoy.

A tip for the winter that my girlfriend's family does for the cabin in the winter is to make a bunch of kindling and keep it in an air tight container and also the chop up some smaller pieces and keep them in a bin inside or in something that's waterproof with the lid right outside the door to save space.

Clean all the contacts where the cables connect to the battery, the body, the starter etc. If there is any resistance there the voltage over the starter will be really ( too ) low and the starter won't run. If this won't work, your starter might be toast. You could also check the battery ( that's easy )...
Isabel, you can compost all winter long in a large bin. Drill holes throughout the bottom and the sides, layer the food scraps with dirt from that farther away garden along with leaves, wood scraps etc. Add water or open the top when you know it will rain. The holes will also allow drainage. Once in awhile take a sturdy stick and either somewhat turn it or poke holes all throughout it. Put the bin a little bit away from your home. You don’t want to invite critters to your porch. It will break down faster when it starts to warm. Then you just empty it all in your garden area at the time you are turning it over to plant! You can use that bin all year or just seasonally. You ll get a lot of good use of it before it breaks down to where it s useless. Take it from me - a 64 year old woman who doesn t live as remotely as you do (but wishes I did!) - but does try to live a simpler, healthier lifestyle while leaving a smaller footprint behind. But you do have to be kind to your body and make decisions especially before winter and rain seasons to have alternatives. Please think about a store of wood that you don t touch unless you are totally snowed in or sick. I really enjoy your videos and always look forward to them!

I cannot stop watching your videos. I discovered you yesterday and love your authenticity, the extreme natural way of living, what you've got around you and how happy you genuinely are for everything around you. May God bless your heart and keep you safe! 👍👌🙌
Isabel, my young sage, beautifully done. patiently i will wait for your cookbook and the lost art of fermenting.... thank you so much for the inspiration.

Isabel just wondering if you would talk about your life growing up. What values and experiences shaped you.
Yes I wana hear about it too!
Oh boy
I was wandering how she was raised too. You don't see someone her age too often anymore that is so independent and capable and free spirited and not stuck to her phone
Her parents deserve a lot of credit, her father being a carpenter/remodeler, I imagine they said 'ok but you do most of the work! When she laughs, it always makes me laugh! Anyone else?
My happiness levels go up everytime i watch one of Isabel videos.
Its snowing, Isabel has a cold. Also Isabel: takes off her jacket every now and then and screams 😅

It is in this stage of interdependence that real relationships are established and true devotion can arise."

OMG, that sourdough Flatbread looked so good. Where can I get about a 40-45 year old version of you, who will wake up, run to the top of a mountain, and scream out how good life is? You are so beautiful in all your ways. I hope that you continue this mountain life, and that you always have the same love for those wonderful simple things that make you say, "OMG, I LOVE THIS!'
the fact that you are cooking everything on a wood stove is sooo impressive

Cold water ? You've never been in ah mountain stream fresh from the source, it is so-o-o-o-o-o cold, you pretty much go numb, immediately, and it will suck the breath right out of ya. You're body goes into shock, and "do not" stand up, once you're under, stay there and enjoy.

Love and Light to you isabel. You are an incredible being. You are teaching people who watch your channel how to be free. That is a gift you have.
You make me so happy. I live vicariously through you, one day I will live in a mountain forest. Sometimes I feel so depressed not living where I truly want. I just think of you saying, “all you can do is make intentional decisions to meet your goals.” And slowly I am getting through.
Her eating really fascinates me. I never knew people eat that way. I'm totally unhealthy and need a change but it also looks complicated.

A tip for the winter that my girlfriend's family does for the cabin in the winter is to make a bunch of kindling and keep it in an air tight container and also the chop up some smaller pieces and keep them in a bin inside or in something that's waterproof with the lid right outside the door to save space.
Just began to follow you a week ago. Catching up on your story as I watch a few episodes at a time. You are a refreshing light, a true inspiration, and yes if I might say, a beautiful lady and being. Why don’t you put some solar flood lights out side your door that would really brighten it up motion activated so you can see to get wood instead of your lantern . Powered by the light/ winter sun
What a good idea!!!

Clean all the contacts where the cables connect to the battery, the body, the starter etc. If there is any resistance there the voltage over the starter will be really ( too ) low and the starter won't run. If this won't work, your starter might be toast. You could also check the battery ( that's easy )...
Thank you for sharing, we all need it =) Love from Québec
I really enjoy your videos and always look forward to them!
lol, if you keep living this way you'll probably live until the end of the universe! *SO HEALTHY.*
