Sometimes my life is not dreamy & romantic, and things don't go the way i planned. This is a very realistic video of what my life is really like, during the times when i'm not running around the mountains screaming at the moon.

I didn't learn til I was 23 how much being WARM by dressing right and keeping the heat up indoors (by accident on top floor of heat included v.warm apartment) influenced my level of happiness.
I hope a thrift store near her or somewhere in her path winds up with the perfect silky knit thermals and loose big soft pretty hat and warm light boots and good soft thick socks so she may know warmth and feel empowered to go out whenever.
But I remember winters in northern new England and the ICE UNDER SNOW was the absolute worst treachery! Tears freezing on your face! no judgement, sweet isabel, you're a tough cookie😘❤💜💙💚

Loneliness is something we experience alone or with someone, once the wanderlust has got into your blood. the years will stack up Dear Isabel, and you will look back at those quiet times, and see the meaningfulness of everything, as it will all make sense. Keep your faith, and in times when your faith is dwindling, fake it, keeping your head high at all times. Crying is ok, we all do that. I think what helped me the best through my loneliness is learning when to cry, by that i mean choosing tears of joy, and inspiration, over tears of wishful thinking, as Gratitude will always give reward, I know you will be ok, as I have seen this is something you already do. Alan, such an amazing comment to read and filled with wisdom. I'm 32, so not as wise as yourself. Spent many years in the mountains (rock climbing/sleeping in caves and just plain old adventuring) sometimes with friends and sometimes alone. Have had my fair share of tears of joy, waking up in cave surrounded by the Drakensberg Mountains, being overwhelmed at the immense beauty of nature and being completely reliant on yourself and what nature has to offer.
By the way, I subbed; really enjoy your guitar playing, got my first nylon string (Cataluna) when I was 11. Take care and I hope to see more videos in the future.

@Eme Kennede Pretty sure it would be a lot harder if I don’t post my license plate number and state, along with cross streets. This is sound advice. Saying “stop” to this encourages her to do it more and then she’s alone and unsafe. Which is what worries me the most. Comments like that are unhelpful.

@@abcxyz-ew8ui Very true but her being so creative, I think she should record little bits or riffs or passages on her hand drum or guitar and use them here and there throughout the video. Just short sections, like intro music on a TV show and it can easily be reused in other videos. Lots of people have opening and closing bits of music for their channels. I wonder though, she talks about her farm and when you grow things, you become very tied to the land and can't really go places because of the responsibilities. Isabel dear...you need to dress for the weather....cover your head, your extremities and wear warm boots with crampons for ice. think of your body as a teapot. it can only stay warm if you cover the pot. :) good thing to always be prepared. Plan ahead for your water & wood supply so you are not left stranded if the weather hits.
That's what those things on the boots are called! My mother bought some boots with the crampons and she loves them. They have saved her tushkus many a times. lol
Right? I'm in Arkansas, and 2 weeks ago I was wearing 4 pairs of pants and 3 tops, it was so dang cold. One morning we were at -18° out here. Layers matter!!

You can tell by a lot of the comments that a lot of us has kids - I have a daughter just a little younger then you - so just remember the parents in us always want to help you - by saying get snow boots!!!! I'm sure there are too many comments for this to be seen, but peat moss is a non-renewable ressource - and the demand for it is quite high, which leads to companies draining really old bogs for it, that will take 1000s of years to get back to where they were, and that's really bad for biodiversity. It's really a great addition to gardening soil, but there are alternatives! You seem to be really into living with nature, so I assume you'd be interested in using sustainable materials, and I thought you'd like to know!
Yup, at least in Europe we have good alternatves - if possible PLEASE don't use peat. Not friendly for the ecosphere nor sustainable.

@@Courterfly I think the main one is just compost! A lot of soil mixes I've seen people make use it instead of peat moss, although you have to mix it with other stuff to keep it from being too dense. Plus you can make it yourself! As far as I'm aware, peat moss is really good for moisture retention but so is compost. I've also seen people talk about coconut coir, leaf mold etc. I guess it's a question of mixing the right proportions to get the qualities you need?
@@Courterfly We buy it normally in big bags, guess they use kind of green waste compost from grass, lawn, wood and hedge cuttings as well as autumn leaves, bark compost, wood fibers or coconut fibers, including coconut dust etc.

Isabel has chosen to live in a very dangerous environment at the most deadly time of the year. She can't even manage her water supply and She barely has a grip on her heat source. Living in the mountains myself I am prepared for everything. Blankets, coats/extra cloths, water, medical kit, back pack, food. It's all in my car.
Yep my daughter keeps food, water, blankets, extra clothing in the trunk of her car. She is 19 and learning to BE PREPARED!!

Isabel, you also might want to look into getting some soapstone tiles or a slab to put behind your wood stove. It will absorb heat and radiate it back into the house long after your fire has died down or gone out.
she has an electric heater,, she has a hot plate, huge fridge ..
there are shoes with spikes, or just spikes to attach to the shoes ... you can also use a shovel to remove snow and then sprinkle sand or ash to prevent it from getting so slippery. Make a path to the places you go often! And - girl, It is not allowed to complain that you freeze when you are not wearing warm clothes!

I often get confused as to how cold she gets when indoors or even in her car but can jump half naked into frigid water and sit there.

I use kahtoola microspikes which I can put on my boots. Also recommend Bogs or similar boot which are rated to about -50 degrees Fahrenheit

Yeah, she is a fraud. Nothing she does is what she is actually perceived to be doing . They are stories. No farm. Maybe a garden at best. Living off money from her parents. How many times can you film yourself making coffee? She does know how to film and edit video. But of course that is never talked about. No internet or cell service but she has an editing computer and quality camera equipment to upload her “stories”. Ok.

I understand that you have an aesthetic for your channel that you like, but please invest in proper winter clothing. A proper jacket, WINTER BOOTS, and even maybe some snow pants. It will make your experience a lot more enjoyable.
Also, they make CLEATS that you can pull over any shoes that help you get traction on ice, which would make going outside easier. The weather doesn't have to be an obstacle, you just have to prepare for it properly.

Dear isabel, I hope you would consider making an Amazon wish list for items you need to survive at your beautiful mountain cabin. Things like: a wheelbarrow to cart your belongings back and forth from your car to your home. Some yaktraks or similar-shoe sole covers for walking on ice! I am sure there are many other items that would help you live more safely & easily up there!

Burying pipes, buying thermal winter clothing and proper snow boots, building a car shelter for winter, chopping wood every day to create a better stockpile for winter.

I have some slip-on over-boot traction spikes that I just fit on over my blundstones and then take off when I get to ice-free ground or surfaces. They are so effective and were very reasonably priced.

Dear isabell, love your vids 💚. it really hurts me to see you suffer though. Some of it is surely easy to solve with a little winter preparation. You could use gravel or street salt to prapare your paths and driveway, maybe shovel snow making some paths while it is still soft. Or maybe pay a neighbour or exchange services, like some good food for some driveway clearance. Then you coul park your car at home. Isolation for water pipes, a winter compost that is closer to home, preparing enough firewood in time and stocking it next to your house, proper snowshoes with small spikes at the bottom etc... And use snow chains on your wheels. There is also this plastic mat you can shove under your wheels if you get stuck in the snow or in sand. Maybe also watch Fy Nyth, a young woman living alone in the mountains who seems to have many winter tricks up her sleeve. And please get yourself a satalite phone. What happens if you break your foot and cant call for help or walk to the car. Also, do you have a bearspray at hand when hiking? Also usefull for other predators. I love risk and fun but i worry about you not ever taking any precautions. This is the mum in me begging you to have fun without disregarding your safety. Love from snowy Austria.

You should definitely start a cut fire wood pile so you don't have to keep cutting wood and have you thought about getting a 4 wheeler or an off road vehicle to make getting around easier
Maybe a donor can get get you a used one! Small simple ones are not expensive. Also, used riding mowers with the mowing stuff removed make very good dependable way to get around rough ground.

That stove should not be that close the wall. There should be a heat shield behind it. Once that wood gets hot enough for long enough it will burst into flames. Your power steering pump is low on fluid.

Is that something you are just born with? I am an adult with tactile sensory processing disorder. So I constantly feel out of sync with my own body and very uncomfortable physically. I worry Bc of that, that I will never be able to raise my vibrational attitude.

If you cant, I can tell you a thing or 2 about my situation that will make you very appreciative of what you have now. Anyways, choose CHOOSE to be happy. Smile at strangers, say hello. Start small. It is addicting. Sure, we all have bad days, hard days. But higher vibrations sure make them more bearable 💜
I am 52, on disability for lupus and fibromyalgia, anxiety and PTSD. I live in the woods. 25 miles from town. My water pipes froze and busted almost a month ago. Like they do every year, but in a new spot that I cannot get to and fix on my own. I just hauled 20 gallons of water from the spring a mile away. I'm broke. But I'm warm, I'm fed, and it is all gona be ok. Later I will heat more water on the stove and take a nice hot bath in a plastic storage box bin thingy. And those are some nice baths! @@courtneyfink5880 Don't worry about it Courtney. This world is definitely a a disaster right now, and it is OK and TOTALLY healthy to feel uncomfortable with it. Anyone who tells you that "you just need to have a better attitude" or "raise your vibration" (when you are obviously already trying all that) is toxic, and out of touch with reality.

GET A DOWN COMFORTER. Real Down. They are soooo warm. You have to pull them off to cool down even in a cold room. They have faux down comforters and you don't want that. Down comforters make great body pillows also. Just ball them up and you have a great pillow for behind your back etc.
I can't believe how unprepared you are for the cold... you literally don't have to be so freezing just get a winter coat and some gloves!

@@CanadianTexaninLiguria Correction. It gets very cold where she lives. By the looks of the license plates, she lives in the mountains in my state, and I've lived up in those mountains in a cabin during the winter in the past as well. Warm clothes, boots and gloves are really important.
@@AnnAndNala We just had 111 people in Texas die from hypothermia in the big snow storm we had last month. Why? Because we have never experienced below freezing temperatures with no heat. I wish she would be more responsible and take the proper precautions for cold weather. You can survive with no heat, but you have to play it safe. Always keep your head, hands and feet protected. She could no a great thing by setting an example and teaching survival skills.
Winter dressing in the cold 101: wear a scarf around your neck and down in front of your chest. Wear a wool sweater, preferably cashmere, preferably a turtleneck

I was thinking that but she is vegan... would she wear wool? I really want to send her some possum socks. My feet would have fallen off in the weather she is in.
The animals that give us wool are not killed to get the wool. They are shorn, the equivalent of getting a haircut. Many vegans still carry leather bags and wear leather shoes which the animal has to be killed for so in that case they may be vegan for health reasons rather than moral principles.
I only say this because I care.. you have got to prep more in the fall for winter I live a similar lifestyle in the mountains as well and watching this gave me so much anxiety lol. Stay safe 🖤

When I lived in Fargo, North Dakota, at a certain point the snow packed down on the pavement and turned into a bed of pavement in itself. When new snow fell most of it was plowed to the side. Coldest place I ever lived. Always carry a sleeping bag and heavy outer clothes in the vehicle in the winter, water and other refreshments, and food.

Start stocking up on as many items as possible when the weather is warmer, that way you needn't venture out unless absolutely necessary come winter. It worries me to see you struggling like this. Also consider spiked hiking boots.

Keep an emergency candle lantern in your glove box, in an enclosed space like that they can raise the heat a good twenty degrees or more. You should also keep a low temp sleeping bag available, it could save your life in weather like that. And don't forget the matches!

This is not impressive, what work? You can buy ice cleats to add on to your shoes - it will definitely greatly diminish, or eliminate, the issues you're having walking on ice. I keep a pair at home and work.

I used to grow 50 heirloom varieties....the green ones makes a wonderful green tomato cake with cardamom and ginger and vanilla. Literally the BEST cake.

A proper sub zero sleeping bag is a lot warmer than quilts! Quilts don't work unless it is reasonably warm.

And, with regard to that mechanic, you evidently had a chain instead of a belt and he was apparently able to take out a link in order to tighten the chain enough allowing him to reset the timing. So, when your chain got too much slack it jumped a cog and threw of the timing, which in turn stopped your motor or, at the very least would not allow it to function properly. You were lucky to find that mechanic. You were also lucky to live through that adventure to tell your story. It is always good to have your car routinely checked out by a good mechanic who you can trust. It's essential. Your significant others and family are quite impressive. You? You're a one of a kind! A sled for carrying your stuff back to the house. A good sharp stick for hiking down and back, just something for stability. Get some spiked shoe covers. You do not need an injury there alone.
Removable insulation panels on the inside of your windows and sliding glass door will keep your tiny house much warmer!

Pro tip Isabel: when you're in slick icy road conditions, before you go down the hill, reduce your speed to the speed you need to be going at the bottom of the hill. Like at the top of the hill, slow way down to the speed you need to be going when you get to the bottom. One of the first driving rules I taught my little 19 yr old daughter ;)
Gear down start slow at the top because you will pickup speed
I suggest that you chop wood in the day time and keep a couple days supply on hand.

Isabel I would recommend getting yourself ice cleats. They're fairly cheap to buy and would give you so many solutions. You can just attach the cleats to any pair of boots you wear. They're adjustable. And you can walk freely on the ice without falling. They give good traction and grip on all surfaces actually. I'm from Canada and we can literally get cleats now from the dollar store called Dollarama hahahahaaa.
You would also benefit a lot from having a pair of rubber boots for when you have to talk on mud and puddles once the snow starts to melt. Rubber boots are going to come in handy too for when you start your farm. And also another motherly suggestion is to get yourself some waterproof winter gloves and a thick fleece sweater to keep you warmer in winter time. As well as thick socks. Hahahaaa. I feel like such a preachy mother even though I don't have kids. But sister you NEED these things to get through all the obstacles of winter !!! Trust me I'm from Canada. Love to you 💜💜🎵🎶💜
I actually don't understand how she doesn't have all that stuff its not like its complicated, I'm in Ontario I mean going out in cold snowy weather you dress properly, gloves are a no brainer and long cotton dresses even if they are over leggings make no sense in deep snow, idk maybe its cause shes young
@@Sunnbuzz yes I was thinking the same thing. I think it's because she's young and for a long time she was travelling in hot climate places. I'm also in Ontario. I used to be a dog walker which meant I had to walk dogs also during winter months for 8 hours a day. I mean, I'm all about winter gear hahahaaa. I don't know how she makes it in those conditions without proper gear. But she is a very strong and resilient girl. She's also very young. When I was 20 I couldn't be bothered to bundle up for winter. But everything changed for me when I had to walk dogs on snow and ice and stay outside for 8 hrs in minus 10 or 20. That's when I got real with myself hahahaaa. Feeling cold and underdressed for winter can literally break your mind. Isabel is super tough though. But I feel pain watching her struggle so much with little things that could be solved so easily with the proper gear. It's not expensive at all. But then again too, we must consider the fact that Seattle's weather is a lot like Vancouver's and so it actually isn't as cold and snowy there as it is in Ontario. So that might also be a reason why she is not getting those things she really needs.
We hit -40 in Alberta, Canada and I’m always so cold watching these videos. Toque, gloves, scarf, multiple layers, snow cleats, emergency blankets, shovel, and car kit, are essential. Give up on the hose and pull water up in a container on your sled. Please be careful sweet Isabel!
@@seguraarts2330 I figured it was Seatle area by the terrain and when she went to her mums and was talking about the weather & said it hardly snows.
I also thought back to when I was 20 and I was not aware either about the weather and dressing correctly. Its just weird because she's clearly very capable of a lot of things that people 10 or 20 years older than her couldn't do so its easy to forget she is young. But I thought exactly what you did that so many of these little PIA problems could be really easily solved and inexpensively.
The worst day I ever had was minus 47 out walking my dog (singular lol) just once and since then Ontario has been mild, its rare we are below -10 for long. I made the "mistake" of buying him a really warm coat with a hood after we adopted him and after that he never wanted to come in lol, but their feet really hurt once we get past -10.
I'm sure next year she will upgrade to better warmer stuff

But dogs always have a hard time adapting to boots and end up walking really funny. 🤣. And yes it's so true. Isabel definitely knows how to do things that people 20 years older than her wouldn't be able to do. Hopefully she will get some winter gear for next year that for sure will make her life easier. I was actually also thinking she should also get a a metal bucket with wheels and handle to pull to put in her compost and take it out to the field where she has the compost hole. That would also make it super easy. She can just put it in her tiny house and wheel it out without having to carry that heavy ceramic jar she uses. Hahahaaa. I feel so preachy and motherly it's so funny. I'm like totally redesigning Isabel's system. I mean well though 🤗😊💜
