  • We’re headed to Arizona for a work-camping adventure with our Bigfoot travel trailer (and our two cats). But first, we’ll visit family and friends along the route. #rvlife
Featured attractions this week include Jungle Jim's International Market in Fairfield, Ohio and the USS LST-325 World War Two Landing Ship in Evansville, Indiana.

We always stop for lunch to give my husband a break… I quickly pull out things like cottage cheese, pre-sliced veggies, humus, etc. Throw everything back in the fridge and dishes in the sink for our nightly wash…. You’ll figure out a plan that works for you!

I find eating fruit and nuts keeps me from falling asleep while driving. Any carbs completely knock me out

Pack a lunch in the morning just like you used to take to school.Takes a little planning but saves time feels good to have it ready at lunch time.

Yeah, we can at least pack some PB&J sandwiches. Gotta get that into the morning routine.

It's funny that I'm sitting in our 25RT Bigfoot watching this while you're traveling in your Bigfoot. In TX, btw. ❤

I'm all goofed up 😁. For some reason I thought you were traveling down the east coast to your work camping job. Didn't realize you were going west.
Could you prepare an easy to handle lunch in the morning when you fix breakfast and put it in a small cooler in the truck, so you could eat as you drive?
So far the snow has stayed north of us here in central Illinois. I hope it keeps missing us for awhile.
Do the kitties get used to traveling after awhile? I've traveled with dogs but never cats.
    Take care!!

Yes, we should definitely figure out a portable lunch. I thought the cats would eventually get used to driving, but so far they still cry for at least part of every leg of the trip.

Congratulations! You two have worked SO hard to get to this point. I'm so happy for you, that you now get to travel and see all the things.

you know you are fulltime rvers as you live in your rv since the day you pulled out of your home in dallas, lol. we also find the road to be an alternative way of life that we adjust to even after 13 years of fulltime life. our time on the road has taught us a lot about our relationship and our ability to deal with the unexpected as they appear. sometime humans forget how resourceful we can be. it sounds as if you two are making time to smell the roses, see the sites and catch up with family. the time will fly by and we thank you for bringing us along. safe travels! btw, rick suggest you grab a drill for those stabilizing jacks just to make use of those power tools in an alternate manner while on the road.

Ha ha, I guess that's true but I kind of felt like a full-time RV imposter, once we had all those cushy off-grid systems up and running on the property. Thanks for the tool tip :)

Enjoy your videos and have safe travels. Do you have any tips for the care of your cats? We have a Bigfoot like yours, and one cat which we just adopted. Trying to get ahead of some travel plans in the near future and getting set up for our cat to travel with us.

Thanks very much. We've lived in our Bigfoot for almost two years now, and the biggest challenge with the cats is where to keep the litter box. We had it under the dining room table for a while (not ideal) and we would stick it in a back corner of the bedroom when friends or family came to visit. On one such occasion, we never did bring the litter box back to the front of the trailer (also not ideal, since the walk around bed can't be walked around anymore). We thought about modifying the front storage area with a cat door to serve as a litter closet, but decided there was probably not quite enough room. If you kept the litter box in the shower, you would need some way to keep the bathroom door slightly ajar or make a cat door in it, so that didn't seem worth pursuing either.

As for travel, the cats HATE that part and have not gotten used to it (although maybe if they were younger they may have become better accustomed to it). We have kept them in crates in the truck with us for that part. We have not exceeded about six hours of travel in a day. That's a goal we set for our own well being, but the cats keep us from cheating on our plans because at some point they would definitely need a break for food/litter/water, and that would get complicated and make everyone's day too long. Once we let them out into the not-moving trailer, they cheer right up and go back to business as usual.

Thanks for your quick response. Yes the litter box is the biggest challenge we are facing. So, we will need to be adaptive.
