At this point I have no idea what will happen first between Disney getting so bankrupt they get replaced by other studios or these people getting fired.

Yeah you’re right who know what will happen. By the time they attempt to fix things it’ll probably be too late and in the worst case they’ll probably have to sell assets like Star Wars to other studios. Their practices are so deeply rooted beyond Kennedy to the point where even getting their policies to change is a hard ask.

Hopefully when that happens it either goes back to George or a studio that will treat Star Wars on what it is

@@Endrgamr262yeah I do agree with you If Star Wars is no longer profitable for Disney they will certainly sell it to another studio (George is too old imo). My hope is Disney sets its priorities straight before then. My hope is also that people realise that moving one person in this case Kathleen does not change the approach to Disney films. That’s not how multinational companies work. They are all governed by policies.

Thank you for the video, but respectfully; this is total nonsense.
Latondra Newton left this role more than a year ago, after only holding the position for 6 years, starting in Feb 2017. Blaming her for Epidode VIII, which released 3 months after she took the position is a crazy stretch, especially when one of your examples includes a Black character’s story being overshadowed by an Asian character’s story. Her exit is obviously ahead of KK’s, so I’d argue that KK’s exit will certainly have an impact, just not as much on the diversity we see onscreen.
I’m not here to deconstruct this entire video, I’m just here to suggest an alternative explanation to why some Disney Star Wars projects have been crap lately - perhaps it’s due to rushed writing and production instead of diverse hiring practices. Here’s how you can tell which is to blame.
Replace any “DEI” character you point to with a white male - let’s use Reva for an example. Does the Obiwan show get even one ounce better with this replacement? Of course it doesn’t. Same with ANY other example you might think of. Would Holdo’s smackdown of Poe be any less stupid if Holdo had been a purple haired man? How about if a great movie like Rogue One had replaced its entire diverse leading cast with just white men - would that have made it even better?
That’s where this whole “Blame DEI” scam falls apart every time: it only looks at a handful of bad projects, and never any of the good ones. Star Wars is on shakey ground when it comes to quality of project consistency. From the greats like Andor, The Bad Batch, and Mando, to the lousy like The Acolyte, Boba Fett, and the Sequel Trilogy, to the mid like Obiwan, Ahsoka, and Tales of the Empire. I’d point to most of the great projects being given the time they need to be great without KK or Disney or “The Studio” messing with the creative process.
Just ask Favro what went wrong w/ Iron Man 2 - same story as always, the suits messing with the creative process. Kevin F. has learned how to step back and let creatives do their thing at Marvel - KK has not. The first Season of Mando, Andor, and Bad Batch got to be great AND diverse because KK was focused on ruining the movies with meddling. Obiwan was suppose to be a movie about him and Vader - but when it was turned into a TV series, under-baked filler was pumped in to extend the runtime because Disney+ (along with all streaming platforms) need watch hours. Why else would Leia get kidnapped 3 separate times in 6 episodes??? There is currently 10 hours worth of Rebel Moon streaming on Netflix - a 2 hour at best story spread out 5x as much. Same for the Acolyte - there is zero reason that show couldn’t have been a much better, much tighter movie - all the same actors in place, just not spreading an hour and a half of mystery over more than 4 hours. The studio - the platform - demand these things; they demand quantity of content, not quality, and they demand them NOW!
All that said, I think you made this video in some level of earnest critique, but I contend that you have been insufficiently rigorous in your evaluation. Why do I even care about this? Because I’ve been around the block a few times and I’ve seen actual racists use these broken logic tactics to scam the general public into supporting racist ideas. In my grandparents’ day in the 60s, it was fighting against racial integration (“we should be separate but equal!”), in my parents’ day in the 80s, it was fighting against practices to stop racial discrimination in hiring and housing (“but, if non-whites move in or work here, it will drive down value!… I mean, uh, it-it will take housing and jobs from white people who deserve it more!”), in my day in the 2000s, it was fighting against affirmative action and other initiatives meant to grant better access to marginalized communities (“bu-but s-so many minorities will go to college that there won’t be any room for non-minorities!”), and now in my kids’ day, it is fighting against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives (“It isn’t that Hollywood has run out of ideas or that studios - like the rest of Corporate America - are looking for the cheapest labor to increase the profit margins for their already obscenely wealthy shareholders, it’s that they’re casting further afield than they have for the past 100+ years of movie making! DEI is why planes are falling apart, not because safety checks are skipped in the interest of speed and profit and whistle-blowers end up fired, at best!”).
Just saying there is a long, not-so-proud history of blaming the minorities when we should be blaming the money.

I do appreciate the way you have driven your points. You are correct she has left her position however her policies that she had a big part in creating stayed and have been implemented in Disney even after her leaving.
She took the role in as disneys chief officer in February 2017 and The Last Jedi came out in December 2017. Now is that too soon for policies to be implemented? Yes because filming wrapped in 2016 so what you are saying is correct that latondras policies came after decisions for episode 8 and that’s a mistake and misstep on my part that I didn’t consider so thank you for correcting that.
The main point I wanted to drive home in this video is that if KK leaves, the DEI policies stays which has overshadowed storytelling. Cut the head of the snake another will take its place. What needs to be implemented is new policies which prioritise storytelling over DEI. (Not the removal of those policies)
What you are saying is absolutely correct in terms of them rushing and the terrible unrealistic timelines especially the over working of the CGI teams ect. However I still believe a huge priority for Disney is diverse hiring practices above all else. If Disney placed priority’s over the quality of its content over DEI no doubt some difference will be made. Your points in regards to Disneys lack of quality are absolutely true and the point I wanted to drive home in my video is the reason for the inconsistent quality are Disneys priorities and just like any other multinational company its practices are predominantly within its policies. People like KK leaving can make some difference but whoever comes in place of KK has to abide by the policies Disney sets.
You raise a great point regarding the replacement of diverse characters with white males however the purpose of these characters is what needs to be looked at critically. The white male is now the stumbling bumbling idiot in current media. These diverse characters from minority groups are meant to supersede the white male. The supposed replacing of them is a good scenario to consider but it will never happen because of policy.
Your points are delivered so well and I wish I see points like yours delivered so eloquently on a massive scale on instagram ect. So more people including Disney can see insightfully what we want changed. As you point out there is an inconsistency in quality content in Disney Star Wars from Andor to the acolyte. Is a time factor a consideration? yes because when there isn’t marvel content they want Star Wars content within the same year on Disney plus to have subscription retention. But the overarching priority is DEI. The time constraints are not policy as some projects as you said are given the time and they flourish. But storytelling is not made as a priority and are overshadowed by DEI policies and placed as the biggest priority which is the biggest force for change that needs to occur because it has had an impact in the stories told.
That’s true that there is a mismanagement by the studio in how they’re turning potential movies into Disney plus series that get dragged out and obiwan and the acolyte are very good examples raised. I do agree with the issues you raise that need to be addressed by firing KK. my only issue that exists is that the policies affected the storytelling quality and if KK is replaced that will still be an issue. If she’s gone better decisions can be made however shows like obiwan will be chopped and changed like it was evidently so instead of the prime focus being obiwan, they will add diverse characters to fill the spotlight like Reva who detracted from the story.
Now in regards to your last point I don’t think I approached in any way that was offensive to anyone (except for maybe Disney). There is nothing wrong with DEI unless it affects and is prioritised over storytelling which it is. There have been many examples over the decades in Star Wars with diverse characters which we all love. I’ll give you an example. Juhani is an amazing character in the kotor series and I have repeatedly ran her story arcs because I love the idea of her continuous effort on following the Jedi code despite her traumatic upbringing. She is a lesbian character and that’s part of her being, the only difference is that her story isn’t overshadowed by her being a lesbian rather she has an amazing amount of depth which is prioritised and she just happens to be a lesbian. That’s how Disney should approach it. I don’t want the removal of DEI. overall I want Disney to use their supposedly limitless resources so we can get the best and consistent story telling possible. Never have I blamed the minority groups. I’m blaming Disney for using minorities cheaply to tick boxes which is disgusting instead of valuing those groups and creating quality stories with those groups in mind.
I appreciate your comment overall Rwhalt as this is the sort of dialogue needed in the community. 💯🙏

First one and second was good but after that they were just chasing the first one just like Avatar first one was great second one was horrible of course everything Disney puts their hands on just Falls to crap I mean look at the Transformers first couple were great and then Disney took over and destroyed just the last couple were horrible they just simply can't follow the storyline they got to make their own up and it just ruins everything for people that are my age that grew up with the comic books
