@grubby here are some tips: The most important thing is that you need to insert an advantageous unit into the table on each round. Anything other than that puts you in a disadvantageous position. Town upgrades, gold mines, and hero items always put you at a disadvantage. You need to carefully time everything. (mid controll is the second most important) Each gold mine means 0.5 g per secomd, which means they pay back after their cost x 2 seconds. 1st mine 200x2 400 seconds, 2nd mine 250x3 500 seconds On the current 5.1 version, best practice for gold mines is: 1st mine: take it immediately when the game starts unless you are the first player. The first player should go for max units on the first round, then take GM immediately, then take hero immedeately. if you are the second player get gm when game starts put max units for the first raund and get the hero. 3th player GM, then Hero and a unit. its timer is enough for all those actions. 2nd mine: when "any" tower destroyed either yours or enemies. When you lose yours, you will be at a bad disadvantage if you fight around your town where your opponents will control the middle. So you want your second mine as soon as possible. 2 goldmines will payback after 15 minutes. If towers are not being destroyed, 8-10 minutes in game time will be a good point to take 2nd mine. When your opponent starts to build dragons of any kind, if you have druids of talons, like on the first match, with their 1st upgrade they are suprizingly good against them. Mortars are also very good against clumped light units with their upgrade. You would have destroyed those rifles on the first match if you had gone for them. Taking heroes is very, very important. 2nd hero is better than any item in the market. Lvl 3 and Ulti abilities are very powerful. You should take another hero whenever one of them reaches LVL 6 immediately.they will slowly level up and payvack theri cost dearly. Especially for second and third, if the hero has an aura it becomes very advantageous.
yeah and just by speculation, if u have mid, your team has +30 gold which translates into 3 goldmine upgrade. thats by far the most important thing to keep up imo.
@saimyintmyat9373 Probably about 20-10, went on a really nice winning streak then lost a lot of games trying out questionable strategies, much to the anger of my teammates :P
I'm not usually a fan when grubby goes off and does custom, but this map preserves much of the original mechanics while being super novel. More of this!
I only ever played legion td for custom games but watching your videos made me try this and I never even noticed it in the listing of games. I love it now. My strategy is to get a gold mine straight away, then sacrifice my first send wave to get a hero. After my hero, I make units and then focus on buying hp items for a tanky melee hero. When you make a heavy tanky hero, it's really fun watching them absorb so much damage.
I feel bad for you, there are so many custom games. Sunken City is the single best RPG and you even got large scale RTS like World in Flames and much more, be it online or custom campaigns.
@@PuellaMagiHomuraAkemi Limiting myself in what way? You're saying I could better myself by expanding my usage of WC3 custom games? LMAO. Wc3 is my secondary game buddy.
Honestly just having direct strike in WC3 with heroes and stuff is already so freaking awesome. In SC2 it's one of the reasons I loved the COOP commander version of direct strike with Mengsk and such cause you could watch your royal guards snowball with every advantage you eked out in the matchup.
This custom mod is a nice way to learn unit counters in warcraft 3 for beginners. Would like to see a few direct strike episodes thrown in the mix as well :-)
Kinda hurt to see Grubby ignoring auras and buying stat items (not in the case with CL, that was good strategy case it is single army's tank). While items give something to the hero only it is just one unit but auras contribute to each unit in army making theirs effect multiplied by size of your army. If you have no particular aura from hero or unit it should exist as item IMO.
Ever considered trying SC2 Direct Strike? Seems quite the same but in a more modern and polished manner. I played it for more than 10 years and it was actually the inspiration for me to keep an eye and finally transition to mechabellum. Without knowing more about WC3 Direct Strike I guess (feel free to correct me if I am misinformed) what bored me out of SC2 Direct Strike over time is the lack of match making. You always match up super random from noob to troll to pro times 6 involved players so finding a nicely balanced match is always hard to find. Plus, games can really take a very long time though you know it will be very hard to win them and you know so 10-15 minutes in advance. PS: If you ever want to dive into SC2 Direct Strike, really consider if you take commander mode or classic. Commanders mode is much more exciting from my perspective (I played classic for years since commanders mode was introduced later on) but also requires much more work since you have so many races. PSS: What really is awesome about Direct Strike in comparison to Mechabellum is that playing as a team is default left overs of armies stack with each other. This creates incredibly interesting options at different stages of the game where you can deliberately decide to go to the defensive to stack like crazy and steamroll your opponent from a defensive position.
Coming back to WC3 after many years and love watching your videos. Is this played no W3champions? I've seen you talk about W3champ quite a bit, but I don't know how it effects the original client or really how it functions. Cheers!
Sad that out of Reforged the best we got was re-hashed maps from SC2. This map in particular is quite boring once you realize the metagame is a snowball effect with rare counterplay.
Pretty much copy of SC2 map, was popular like 10 years ago, mode with coop heroes also was awesome ^^ Tho maybe it was on wc3 yearlyear and i just didnt saw it :D
@@ericshun3331 It was bad phrasing by me. By "fast" I did not mean rushing. Just that getting a 2nd and 3rd hero should be the first thing you buy when you reach tier 2 and 3, respectively, and you tier up when it is good, don't rush.

More of this please if you dont mind
Yeah i like this too
Same I don’t mind at all

Yeah I really really like this

Grubby maxxing personal income and playing Pimp my Peon on his Crypt Lord while the tower burns. The team must be quietly fuming!
Grubby custom game arc would be sick!

You really need more respect for simple arithmetic power in these types of games. "Power Fantasies" really work here
so much tact. so much strategy. without micro....but bits of micro. ❤❤❤❤
Super fun, Grubby. Please more of this game type.

Should have had that endurance aura on Tauren a while back when you started stacking them

i love how Grubby has the audacity to explain Direct strike, the fucking game mode thats been around since 2005 in almost every form.
Not many ppls knew it.
I feel like you need a tanky hero to stack auras on, or a hero with auras to make tanky if you want to only have one hero
Another tip: If the tower/base get the kills the heroes around will not be granted the experience
tbh heroes should TP if they're still alive a few seconds before ur wave spawns
theres definitely competitive custom game players people sweat on anything now a days :D

it should teleport your hero with your new wave if it survives.

Can both teams gain the bonus gold from the center if for example one has ground and one has air units and both go over it?
