Imagine you're 2000MMR , casually playing a game after school or work and uThermal coming micro his warp coloss on your nose. Enough reason to go to bed without eat.
I think that you should be able to just choose whatever race that hasn't been played enough. Nice and simple, no messing around with what units you should play with.
or just random until one race runs out, then pick the other 2. keep going atleast. The last units in each race will be fun games, even if he gets destroyed forcing a broodlord rush in GM.
Psure he tried this during the preview of the Battery Overcharge Change Testbuild. It worked wonders because it went off so early. Not sure why he didn't try it here; possibly to emphasize the role of the HT more.
Imagine killing 10+ workers and wiping your opponent's entire army at 5 minutes only to have them counter-attack with Collossus/Sentry and win. I would feel so confused and SO bad at the game.
1. lucky wins (for all the reasons you mentioned) should just not count for any unit 2. running out of units of one race and using the worst is an AWESOME idea
I love how uThermal doesn't know how much people in gold league sucks. Trust me, I am one of them. Static defence shines in those leagues, because we don't know what is happening on the map, we use F2 all the time, otherwise we lose our units in open space (they are not killed, they just stand there until end of the time). We cannot divide army properly, so we are not able to defend anything with units. Honestly, I have seen so many videos, where Harstem, Lowko, uThermal or any other good player is mentioning that Marine or reaper is built at this precize time. I don't remember it, and I don't care, in gold, this time window is twice the size. Your first Marine could be there at 2:20, and also 3:40. And every time it's just stressful. I sometmise stop all my workers by accident and notice it 10 or 20 seconds later. It killing event for GM player but in gold league, well, shit happens...
I love this kind of content. I think the games you lose should not tick the unit out, so eventually you'll have to try and win with every unit to move further Another great idea would be the exact opposite, like, you pick a unit to be the main for that game, you may even transit mid game, but if you lose you lose that unit for the series, see how far you can go and which unit is the most reliable in the end for each race. Even if you transit to avoid losing a precious unit you will eventually lose and run out of units Again, I love those challenges, if you make a thousand of those, even if the same challenge, I'd probably watch the whole thousand and never get bored, lol
Congrats. I considered doing this a few times early with the storm technique against probes/lings, but not as a rush. I did make several of the early Protoss cannon variations as CmdrDarcon several years ago(which I know they hated me for), but I got a little lazy because the early cheese worked so well and so often. I need to get back into gameplay in order to re-work my mid and long game efforts so thank you for showing me several macros and your microing to help that effort. You are fair and also entertaining, ty.
Like the new series! I think if you run out of units of one race, I think you should alternate between the two remaining races, and then only play the race that is left after that :)
An alternative to building a full wall is to build several pylons with gateway ends and filling in cannons on the inward side. (You can add outer later) The cannons should reach the edges of any entrance you are protecting. (Not that I know anything anymore).
When I used the stormers I would hit once square, move up and hit with the second, then just scream HAVOK with 3-6 stormers and then release an army of fast zealots on what was left. Watching your strats, learning, and relearning. I don't know how long they started every player with a bunch of probes/scv/etc but I started with zero last time I played lol. I can see that it helped early game play though. Wtg starcraft. I'm so sad now, I didn't even remember motherships.
I'd love to see you try something... When BeastyQT play his "sentries only to GM", he used sentry drops to get some harassment in... and something that I thought was interesting is that people would pull their workers... but a nice force field would catch them all; the workers all clumping up against the force field. Now, against sentry this just meant a few extra kills... but I couldn't help but to think "What if there was a disruptor or storm with that?"
I think if you get cheesed before executing your own cheese you should just redo that unit later on. I want to see a proper cheese executed for all the units. If you finish a race early, your idea to have a vote for one unit of that race until you finish the challenge sounds fun, either that or do a roulette wheel Looking forward to seeing the most brutal, merciless cheeses!
sorry, super random question, do you have a protruding sharp tooth on the top half right side of your teeth, kinda looks like mine, just thought it was neat
I can't wait to see the zealot build, when I play I go as fast as possible charge zealot with +1 attack and then just keep upgrading attack until I win. I have yet to lose as protoss with this nonsense XD. keep making great content, you made me jump back on this fun game, can't wait to see the next vid.
This sounds like a fun series, I'm a huge fan of random some series seem to drag on a bit like I struggled to follow some of them that I found more boring like a lot of the zerg ones and the ghost or spider mine ones.
Surely, if you're getting cheesed, you defend it normally and then transition to the chosen unit. As Zerg playing a proxy swarmhost rush against a cannon rush with proxy robo, you're allowed to use queen/ravagers against the rush and then transition to the swarmhosts you had planned.
I think if you get cheesed early, if you can hold the cheese and counter with some unit and get the W, that should count still. Otherwise I think it's fine to not count it as well
I think that if you run out of units, you should refresh that race so now each unit can be played max twice or maybe even you have to use them in the order you did the first time
It still feels weird to me that high templars have a basic attack. My brain is still stuck in Wings of Liberty where they didn't have an attack. So if you a-moved your army they'd move to the front and just walk into the enemy fire and die for free.
Yo, Mark! An idea for 3 vs 3! 3 protoss cannon rush pluss phoenix rush and stalker rush with blink. Maybe switch something or combine with backdoor DT...
in this case, wouldn't a win without ticking off a crap unit but raising in MMR, be classed as an unlucky win? also, shall we all come up with a list of non-unit cheeses for marc to do when he does finish off a race's list of units - maybe ones that has to be picked randomly, regardless of enemy race, so he never "runs out" of stuff to do before getting the last units in the other races
I think if you keep landing Protoss and run out of units, the play would be to just flip and coin and "randomly" queue either Zerg or Terran instead of queuing Random race.
I like this series idea, but I don't want there to be a huge penalty for finishing a race because that's just going to be based on RNG. If you run out of units for a race you should just let that race start over.
You should only be able to make a limited amount of other units aside from the unit you are planning on cheesing with ir at least just one of unit type.
Phil Collins could feel those phoenixes coming in the air tonight.
DU DU DU DU DU DU DUDUDUDU
It was a Land of Confusion
Oh lawd!
"...gonna have phoenix nightmares for the rest of his life. Absolute freaking torture!"
tonight live for you: Phil Collins and Lunatic Larry
That mass phoenix killing overlords are straight up evil.
Reminds me of the Sair-DT strategy in Brood War.
But it was GLORIOUS lolol🤣🤣🤣
@@wschmrdr I was going to mention this, glad someone else did first.
This is what my nightmares are as a Zerg player

Flip a coin when there are two races left.
Just rotate one race each game
I do wish you brought Sentries with the High Templar in the Storm-Drop Game. Trap the workers with the sentry, watch them be stormed in a cage.
Actual evil genius strategy
Marc needs to see/try this!
reaction time is all the wall he needed
Psure he tried this during the preview of the Battery Overcharge Change Testbuild. It worked wonders because it went off so early. Not sure why he didn't try it here; possibly to emphasize the role of the HT more.
@@EvlNinjadude sorry... what?
You can torture zerg harder with phoenix if you start lifting larvae.

love how in the storm one he kept rallying dozens of probes to die lol
i kept thinking he would notice lol
😂😂😂 wtf was that
he also didn't notice that he lost his core at that exchange - was kinda hilarious to watch
Argh, that hurt so much watching him suiciding those drones at a base that didn't even exist any more and I don't even play the game! ^^'
1. lucky wins (for all the reasons you mentioned) should just not count for any unit
2. running out of units of one race and using the worst is an AWESOME idea
@25:30 "it doesn't have anything to do with the game, i legit just suck" bahaha too relatable
Its not an 'only X unit to GM' challenge, so if you have to build a few early units to survive the first few minutes i think you're allowed
I think if you lose with a unit and you hit a second cycle, you have to use those you lost with or you just keep the order from the first cycle
I have many spore crawlers in my base. My overlords are save here.
2 seconds later:
17 phoenixes fly in and kill them anyway
Sounds like a good starcrafts carbot video

Mutas deserve their own series ! Mutas and spines to GM ? :D
Id watch the hell out of this
Mutas are very weak in straight fight, this is not brood wars anymore.

He is a real certified Dutch-masochistic-cheese guy🤣
i think base wise you should build however many would facilitate a certain strategy. like when you did the 198 supply battle cruiser video.
BEST IDEA EVER! Love this series. Dont let this one die, keep posting ! lol
When you have so many High Templar they be killin' the enemy with their water balloons
2v2s were the best! More of those please.
Idea for if you run out of units:
You are out of units. Embrace it! Canon s, spines and pfs are your friends 😂
I've never seen such an absolute dismantling of someones soul. Those poor overlords.
I love this series so much, cannot wait for more videos!
the 4 minutes of probes being rallied off 2 bases into the enemy army in the last game was so painful to watch
The 2 Templar 1 zealot fight was GOLD i lolled so hard!
sorry, super random question, do you have a protruding sharp tooth on the top half right side of your teeth, kinda looks like mine, just thought it was neat

great video! love the storm drops :D gg

The Colossus Hit and run is hilarious wish to see that more often.
Thermy beat him like Phil beats those drums
Similar to what someone else said below, I have wanted to see a sentry and disruptor build where the sentries make it so you can't dodge the balls.
What about instead of random, rotating through races (keeping the same order) to make sure you get an even distribution?
Fun video! :)
Haha this is a fun idea. Looking forward to watching this series.
I think that if you run out of units, you should refresh that race so now each unit can be played max twice or maybe even you have to use them in the order you did the first time
Inspiring! Makes me want to try some of these units I haven't used before...
love your vedio UTM, is there any plans on new RTS game tempstrising when its release?
your videos are all entertaining as gained back my interest in sc 2
I think that if you run out of units on 1 race. you should spin a wheel for the last 2 races.
do workers count as units that you need to use in the crazy strat list?
5:57 why no canons though?
The static d kept that guy alive from the counter push. Maybe not 9 but like 4 could a stoped you from harassing.
It still feels weird to me that high templars have a basic attack.
My brain is still stuck in Wings of Liberty where they didn't have an attack. So if you a-moved your army they'd move to the front and just walk into the enemy fire and die for free.
That phoenix game was brutal! The great Overlord massacre of 2024
UThermal is hilarious!!! Always good times watching your videos
to be fair templars and archons are pretty OP together, archons in general are very strong against zerg
I use this strat in 2v2, it works pretty well to neutralize zerg opponents while your TM masses up for the final blow
so what's the deal with the physics behind a colossus in a warp prism?
If you run out of units for a race, you should be forced to building cheese. PF rush, cannon rush, proxy hatchery, etc.
I saw the cybercore get destroyed, but I didn't realize you never rebuilt it until you said something.
Damn warp prisms need to only be able to load/unload when directly above the units. Currently they are nuts.
This will be a fun series!
I love the meta aspect of this challenge!
Howabout for this challenge you manually randomize the races that way you will "progress" them evenly?
Viper rush is gonna hit like a bunch of moths hitting a lightbulb
Amazing series!
Zerg without more overlords than 2-3 would be crazy 🤣
Templars have been my favorite unit since the beginning
Yo, Mark! An idea for 3 vs 3!
3 protoss
cannon rush pluss phoenix rush and stalker rush with blink.
Maybe switch something or combine with backdoor DT...
I'm so incredibly exited for the Disruptor episode
in this case, wouldn't a win without ticking off a crap unit but raising in MMR, be classed as an unlucky win?

When you do a cheese for every unit do the workers count?
When you finish a race and you are picked it in random, you have to then go in order that you first did that race
I would say a finished race would require you to one base all in. No expansions allowed.
The second cheesiest man alive (chronologically)
that phoenix game was so disrespectful xD
Yes - new series!
I think if you keep landing Protoss and run out of units, the play would be to just flip and coin and "randomly" queue either Zerg or Terran instead of queuing Random race.
i have no clue how you can so effortlessly commentate the build while you play.
Phoenix to grandmaster. That was so satisfying.
Play a series where you give advice mid game to the opponent "you're missing roach speed".
"I'm going to prioritize harder units while my MMR is low"
1st game, collosus,,,ok,,,,,2nd game Pheonix....uh
Why do you always default send your probes into the enemies and never fix it?
I want the opposite, when you get all units for Protoss you can now always cheese with it.
Could you simply choose another race to match the number of units used?
Loved the phoenix play.
One option, if you only need a few extra games on a race, would be to redo a cheese that you lost with earlier. Just don't reuse a successful cheese.
I like this series idea, but I don't want there to be a huge penalty for finishing a race because that's just going to be based on RNG. If you run out of units for a race you should just let that race start over.
Since ur random , instead of saying glhf im terran/toss/zerg , for the first few games u can say like glhf im (name of the unit u gonna make)
You should only be able to make a limited amount of other units aside from the unit you are planning on cheesing with ir at least just one of unit type.
ok, cool fine.
but you OUGHT to have a cool cheese name!!!
How about if you run out of units for a race, then you have to cycle through the units for that race again in the original order that you played them.
your insane! I like that.
