@@ianmorton4136 oh no wait I meant the current century beginning in 2001. Since hiromi has been mostly active in that period. In the previous century we had all the jazz giants and many symphonic composers and many other great musicians from other genres. I am sorry, I was born in 2001 so I tend to consider our century the current one, but I am sure it is not the case for many people ofc, especially jazz fans haha.
She's a 'finisher'. Everything she plays, every passage, every lick, goes somewhere - never left hanging. Tremendous lyrical and rhythmic genius. It's like all the improvisations have been planned, which is of course contradictory. Total mastery, and by all 3 members.
You’ve got to be kidding! I was trying to find some new music from my favorite drummer Simon Phillips and holy cow what did I stumble upon! A bass player who Is off the charts and a pianist who is completely out of this world! Talk about taking music to a whole nother level.
Assuming you are drummer. then i suggest you to check Hiromi catalogue extensively. She work with lot's of drum master such as Steve Smith, Dave Dicenso, Martin Valihora, etc
I discovered Hiromi about 4 months ago when I watched the "I've Got Rhythm" at BBC Proms. I was struck and have since been so inspired by her. Hiromi feels every single note she plays. I've never witnessed a moment where she's strayed from being utterly present inside her improvisations. Pure genius! I loved her improvisations with Chick Corea (RIP.) The two were an awesome match. I've listened to so many jazz pianists and even worked with one of the best here in L.A. but Hiromi is my favorite pianist by far. I absolutely adore her. I honestly believe there is no match for her on the planet presently.
I love the way Hiromi smiles so huge at the end, and gives her own special applause to her bandmates when they finish this epic musical conversation..... as if she were saying "wow, that went well", ..... MEANWHILE, us mere humans are overcome with emotion from the performance..... When 3 compatible musicians this gifted get together on a live stage, ANYTHING can happen!!! "
For me, Chick Corea is the most original, and creative pianist of the last half century...it is also my opinion that his successor to that monumental throne, has to be Hiromi. She is that brilliant!!
Immaculate, exciting, emotional, playful, dramatic, swinging, grooving... Never mind... Not enough words to adequately describe how great this woman is, and how well these players work together.
Hiromi! Will not forget. Goes sharp in her progressions, what I need to hear. Divides 12 into every polyrhythm - 4x3s, then 2x6s and even 3x4s. Extracts extreme dynamics from her percussion instrument, the equal of her drummer and takes it beyond. She charms her band mates then captivates the audience in a collective love affair. It's a warm rain with some thunder.
After hearing her live in a solo concert, I can now understand why she breathes and makes noises over the piano tones. She might just be a vocalist too :) She has found a good way to channel enough stamina through those hard parts ;)
WOW!!! Hiromi Uehara, Anthony Jackson e Simon Phillips fazem um trio Perfeito. Música da melhor qualidade. Hiromi é uma diva dos teclados. Fantástica!!!
Very refreshing! I have not heard a Japanese person, male or female, understand jazz so well since Toshiko Akiyoshi. And Hiromi is much more entertaining to watch! Kudos!
Absolutely stunning! And, at the same time, beyond the world we walk in on a daily basis. Every piece Hiromi, Simon and Anthony perform live - every performance - has a distinct improvisational magic. Their work is so exhilarating every time I hear it.
@@bob55robert Those are a.o. the skills of Simon Phillips, he's a very good listener to the other musicians in the band. That's why he's been asked many times to play with other musicians next to his own band Protocol 1 till 4. He's a real "drummers drummer"and my alltime favo artist.
Just maybe--now that you have as many duffer fans as Angelina--you could pick a vocalist, either male or female (Angelina?) to launch to the next level with your accompaniment. Want to? The fusion could be a singularity AI will never reach. Mesmerizing, visually--we listeners would stare, catching every nuance of your restrained emoting, whilst taking in the new views of the vocalist...the music? Your call, mademoiselle!
I am 79 years old, but I am happy spending the rest of my life listening to Hiromi !!
Hey, what a comment. We all need such people. Live longer
Been listening to jazz & classical pianists all my life & then this angel comes along and takes us into a new world,
I believe that 200 years from now she will be mentioned in the same paragraph as Johann Sebastian Bach.
I really believe that.
@@jasonlatour3403 Agreed 100%. I am firmly convinced Hiromi Uehara is the greatest musician of our century.
Absolute prodigies! ❤️

Just spellbinding. The way these three work together musically is beyond words.
this is not music, this is closer to a holy text revelation... one of the greatest artists ever hands down

Mike James totally agree my friend they are glued together ,!! Beautiful!
And there is some world class 'bass face' also going on there :-)
@@jamesoconnor2226 Kinda like the definition of jazz.....and they are re-writing it. Isn't that what is so GREAT about jazz!
Extra terrestrial? Super human? I have to see her perform live. It will be the greatest privilege.
I am grateful i'm alive, and have the chance to hear this beautiful music. Thank you hiromi and the trio. You are the gifts to the world.
It's as if the Universe took pure musicality and gave it an adorable human form so we wouldn't be scared of it.
That is possibly the most remarkable performance I ever saw.
Absolute masters of dynamics!!
There's a code of connection with these three that no one has, no one can break,
and no one can duplicate.
Rainmaker is a beautiful thunderstorm of sound. When 3 brilliant musicians come together sometimes magic happens. This is one of those times. Bravo!!
This is definitely one of the best performances I've heard in quite some time. Like years, probably.
Wow.

Best piece of music I have heard in a loooong time - maybe ever.

Crazy, crazy talented. Loved the Trio Project, Sonicbloom, her playing with Chick Corea. What it would take to keep up with her.
Talent beyond comprehension for mere mortals. What an incredible pair representing two generations!

Peerless Hiromi, great ensemble - I am forever entranced! 💖

Love this Trio... she is a classical today's wonder...please, keep going on...
You can imagine Hiromi just stands up and plays the bass and the drums too. She seems to be music in human form.
Yep, she actually knows how to write for drums and bass too 😉 it's so cool🫶
Beautiful music, beautiful Hiromi!
Astonishing, Outstanding, Gripping, Deeply Intense, Wonderfully Uplifting!
Pure magic rain from these three rainmaker....
An amazing pianist in a well balanced trio. Smooth but powerfull.
hiromi has the gift to make jazz understandable even vor people, who wouldn't have access to jazz regularily. simply gorgeous.
3:33 nice example what jazz means, improvising and listening to each other. here it is also visually beautifully displayed 🙂
Just amazing subtle playing. With the technique of a positive crazyhead. Hiromi is a prodigy as well as for her persona as for her music.

Great collaboration & of course, Magic of inimitable Hiromi. Great vibe
The "connection" she has with the band-mates is electric! Brilliant Hiromi!!!

what i love from Simon Philips ... is ... his hi-hat play ..
the audio engineering was awesome too. beautiful mix....
You are so right. Some of the live recordings haven been bad: Simon Phillips particularly ill-served, with his snare sounding like a tin can.
@@johnricercato740 Kudos for mentioning the unsung heroes - but Hiromi simply works with the best poeple

Hiromi, you are the Queen of the piano! 😉❤️
Brilliant.
