    Hiromi's like Jimi Hendrix. People get so caught up in her technical skills they completely miss out on her compositional genius.

      @namelesswalaby ปีที่แล้ว +2

      except jimmy hendrix gets credit for doing things that people already did before him, he was just an amalgamation of a bunch of different influences. for example, people think he invented the fuzz sound but that was already done by Johnny Guitar Watson and Marty Robbins.

    • @aquamarine99911
      @aquamarine99911 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@namelesswalaby You may want to re-read my comment. The gist of it was that, like Hiromi, Hendrix wrote great songs. All the chops in the world don't help unless you write great songs.
      And NOBODY thinks that Hendrix invented fuzz, or controlled feedback if that's what you meant to say. Les Paul invented everything to do with the electric guitar before anyone else, and the Beatles and Stones (pretty famous groups you may have heard of) were using fuzz in 1965, at least a year or two before Hendrix made his first record.
      And finally, it's "Jimi" for gawd sake. Not "Jimmy". So disrespectful.

    11 : 49, such an odd time to write a song about, then I realize that it's 11 minutes long, and just at "midnight", we hear the seconds counted on the violin (10:11) and finally, the chimes of the clock (10:34) on the piano! Just beautiful! What an emotional ride. I am lucky to have discovered your band in 2007 or so, in a Musikfest tent in Bethlehem, PA. Fan ever since. Glad to see you're still smiling :)

      I have had the immense pleasure of seeing her live alongside the European version of the quartet, and besides having the feeling I was witnessing a classic such as Chopin, I couldn’t help but hear constant effort driven, and rhythmic guttural noises, coming from Hiromi. Although the voice you are referring to is not necessarily a literal one, just wanted to point out that, if you stay close enough to the stage, she does indeed “sing”, just not as you’d expect, and the breathing techniques add so much to the listening experience, and make you realize just how much a precise performance such as this consumes the artist. It was one of the most notable experiences of my life.

    I always wondered how she would sound in an orchestral type of context, it’s still 100% Hiromi madness but I think it’s her most moving work to date. She probably needed to move on from the Jazz trio format (much as I much hearing that) and she has done it in a fascinating and innovative way.
