Chick can certainly be forgiven for his mistake, but this song was written by Paul McCartney (in their later work, it was usually the Beatle who sang lead who wrote the song). Beatle-nerdiness aside, this is a beautiful tribute, and a lasting testament to Chick's musical genius!

It's played with so much love, like an ever flowing river, not fiery passion, but the constant never ending outpouring of wonder, cherishing, savouring, grateful celebration of an overflowing heart. She made me cry as if washing away all my pain and disappointment in life and giving me hope/ showing me there is still beauty in Life. The delicateness and sweetness that sometimes come out. Thank you Hiromi. Thank you deeply.

it's very interesting, the difference in body language and style. chick corea is conservative in his expressions and playing, but definitely masterful. he was setting up hiromi for success at every step of the way. hiromi uehara seems ultra playful, keying off chick's playing. she seems daring or even risk taking in her playing style. she's amazingly good, but so different from chick. and she seems to express exactly what she's playing on the keys on her face. her body language adds an additional level to her musical performance IMO. i really like this combo!

When I die, I do not want a funeral. In my directive, I have asked for a simple memorial service in which my family and friends may gather briefly, sit, and listen to this song as performed on her album "Alive." As a Buddhist, I have always thought that this piece captures perfectly the transience and ephemeral nature of life, its beauty and quietude. From the first time I heard it on her album, it reminded me of a paragraph from the Diamond Sutra, which reads in part, "So you should view this fleeting world- a star at dawn, a bubble in a stream, a flash of lightning in a summer cloud, a flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream." I have had a good life and I am grateful for all of it, good times and bad. I hope that upon hearing this song, those who survive me will also see life that way. Thank you, Hiromi, for your composition.
