Amazing review. You guys are literally some of, if not the best at what you do. Always look forward for these & was waiting for this vehicle. Such a beautiful & luxurious car. I’m a hug Benz fan & this has to be one of the best bargains on the market. Tech, materials, interior, brand, 200+hp, looks, etc. This new CLA has it. Also a huge fan of any vehicle that’s white. Such a classic, nice color. Some black wheels along w/ AMG Night Package & it would’ve been perfect to me.

I'm getting a CLA 220 next month, so the timing of this video is perfect. Only problem is that mine is right hand drive, so I had to watch in a mirror.

Absolutely great review Thomas. Autogefühl is always my number 1 car review channel. Thank you for your work! I actually like the fake exhaust pipes - think it gives a more sporty look no matter which engine pack you choose. Overall I think the CLA with the AMG-line package and with the white paint is the most stunning cars in this segment. Will be hard to decide between this and the A-class sedan.

24:04 A good reason to pick CLA or A class with 4Matic is that you can tow 200KG more! so it goes from 1600 KG to 1800 KG.

A diesel? I would take the 220d. You get the nice torque and good economy. I hope the diesel noise is well isolated from the cabin. Also surprised you say it's so quiet especially for pillarless windows.
Do they have a vacuum to get to that little space behind the digital display?
I wonder if the Hybrid package will filter down from the A class Sedan. I have a feeling that if that happens the 220 (x4) will use the 1.3 ltr engine + electric motor at the rear.

good day, the cla 220d 2018 model does it have a mercedes or renault engine?
Can you find out from Mercedes why the CarPlay doesn’t take up the full screen? Looks weird - especially when the older infotainment systems on the C and E class cars have wider CarPlay screens.
Definitely Mercedes has won the race to best cockpit . That's the only one I truly like without any doubt or flaw

Shame the UK gets very few spec options. No microfibre upholstry. No other dash trims. Those two tone white seats... the list goes on!
definitely prefer the cla over the A-Class Saloon👍. but on the break intervention lane assist I've had a few scary moments when I've gone out around some cyclists and the car braked to the left, and again when leaving motorway late at night and caught as line at speed quite scary tbh. have thought about disabling it tbh. ( Mercedes A-Class a200 amg-line)
Great review - my only complaint is that reviews like these make it more desirable ... I’m now having to wait 8 months for mine ... agghhhhhh !
Only disappointing thing is i can see the petrol needle move when i'm in sport mode.

I'm fortunate enough to have one parked outside my apartment. In white, AMG package as well, gorgeous thing. Too bad it's not mine :/
Although I have one problem with Mercedes, mainly how they try to squeeze every bit of money out of you. You want that sweet ambient lighting? You must buy it in a package! Right now looking at the cla 220 base model, the cheapest way to get it is a bump up to progressive line (13 644 pln/3126 euro) which also "updates" the price of "LED high performance" headlights (which are free on base model!) by 4073 pln/934 euros and the bigger fuel tank by 245 pln/56 euros. Total price premium you have to pay if you want ambient lighting: 17 962 pln/4527 euro. What a joke.
But at least they have a configurator that sort-of works, BMW on the other hand...

How does the leatherette react to the cooling/heating features? Does it crease like genuine leather?
When its high grade like this it is longer lasting

I think I would choose the A-Class Sedan. Good looks, better price and more comfort in the rear.

Nice review as always. I must say that the 200-engine (163hp) is really a superb engine, both when it comes to mpg and performance. That engine will be enough for most drivers. So my tip is get your CLA with this engine and get more of the options instead of the 220-engine. (Some say its a Renault engine but its built in germany).
But what bothers me is that CLA is built in Hungary, not Germany.

I sat in one at my local MB dealer. They had the front seat backs tilted way back, lol. When I adjusted them to my normal upright seating position, there was no headroom! I don’t have that problem in my 2013 E350.

Depends on if you want a shorter car for better parking or need a longer trunk :)

Hi, not seeing that it would make sense. Diesel are more expensive and they do not consume that much less fuel nowadays with the new emission laws etc.
Aha. Actually in my region diesel is very popular (I tent to use stronger wording like diesel makes the market) thus MB aligned price policy it really makes sense in the money (easy to reach total costs parity with French 200). But what about performance, refinement (om654) and overall effect of heavier Powertrain (200d starts at 1.6ton). Would you adjust your assessment based on input? Plus take into account there is no 220 fwd anymore. Only with 4m
Would you advice this car for long trips as it has sport seats? I've rented one which comes with it and I am also 1.86cm.

In fact, the German autobahn these days is one of the worst roads I've encountered in Europe. Almost everywhere there are roadworks which sometimes stay there for multiple years without much progress and there's a lót of traffic jams.

I notice Thomas is so excited at all the animal-free interior options, but you may want to know that here in the UK, leather upholstery is standard on AMG Lines with no delete option for cloth, artico or alcantara!

Horse power versus displacement...An American issue almost. That's why Americans will never but a "euro" Mustang but will always choose the 5.0L GT. Of course: 1/ their fuel is way cheaper 2/ in Europa we get more and more financially punished on bases of CO2 and obscure formulas which include displacement and Hp. So, "you can't beat cubic inches" maybe true, but only for those who can afford it. But basically you are right: squeezing too much out of too small is, well, debatable in the long run.
Thomas: Das Wort "already" wird zwar wörtlich mit "schon" auf Deutsch übersetzt, aber es wird zeitlich eingesetzt. Wenn Du sagen möchtest, dass der Jaguar F-Type "schon einen guten Klang" habe, ist "already" definitiv das falsche Wort. Bitte verwende da einfach "quite" stattdessen. Es irritiert leider in all' Deinen Videos, wie oft Du "already" am falschen Ort einsetzt. (Ist wirklich nur als hilfreicher Kommentar gedacht. Ich mag' Deine Videos.)
Many American YT car channels say German cars are the worst because they are very very expensive to maintain and repair and they brake often. Japanese cars don't break as much and are cheaper to repair. Maybe Thomas would make some video about this subject because I like German (and all European cars) and it's sad what many Americans say about European cars like great handling and interior quality but horribly expensive to repair.

at least must be 240hp for a 2liter Mercedes CLS 220... there was 2liter engines 10 years ego 240hp engines for example volvo 2liter T5 engines,.. and they were pretty solid cars than cls... anyway... :P
