@@danielnovak6002 No. I fell in love with it, but luckily I test drove it first. Fell out of love and returned it within 10 minutes. It was absolutely atrocious. As soon as the door closed, I felt absolutely cocooned in the too-narrow seat (with the side cushions pressing in my back), my left shoulder rubbing up against the B-pillar, my left knee hurt from the door bins that pointily pinch into the interior, my right knee was pressed against the high center piece, the windows are way too high up (I couldn't hang my arm out of the window), it was surprisingly underpowered, I hit the ground at the first speed bump (way too low), the bonnet is way too long (it's almost like a boat), the steering was sluggish and the little touchpad steering wheel controls were unresponsive (sometimes not working, sometimes recording double tap when I only pressed it once etc.). Yeah, it looks cool, but it's fucking awful. I am strongly convinced that many people buying this have the post-purchase rationalization thing going on. ESPECIALLY "bigger guys" should not be getting this. This is the thing with all the car reviewers... Ever noticed how small they typically are? I started paying attention to body type in car reviewers since this misadventure.
I went with a Jeep Renegade instead, and couldn't be happier. Sure, it doesn't have the "road scalpel" quality that many of these sportier cars have, but MAN is it ever a more convenient, relaxing and comforting ride than this cocoon of a car. Why do people want this, I don't get it. Why would you not want room to move your arms and legs while driving?!

Oh, by the way, the default audio system is absolutely underwhelming as well. Why Mercedes put in this AM-radio-quality system is beyond me. It sounds like you're listening to a party at the neighbours'.

I really like the way you are showing / reviewing cars. You are always scratching, moving and opening everything like people normally do. In this video as for example changing the steering wheel position and inserting babysitter into back seats. Most of the reviewers are quite gentle and they probably tell you like "Yes, you can change the position of the steering wheel" but they don't actually show it to you. I'm not sure if I was able to explain this well. Anyways, I like the way you doing these reviews. EDIT: And King Of Everything: Stick of truth!

I previously bought a CLA 200 AMG line purpoted to be a demo. After some time it reported some faulty things as I was driving though I really loved it and enjoyed driving it. When I took it to its sister branch they told me it had an accident so they can't touch it. Before I phoned the East London branch where I bought it, I took it to the traffic department to get a printout about its history. To my surprise I was told it had 2 previous owners. I was so taken aback. I lodged a case with MBSA and consumer protection unit but they were all playing games until the case was referred back to MBSA for their final response. I was so disappointed to be told that Ronnie's motors in East London said there is no difference between a demo and a pre-owened car. Why these different names? It is good to learn that you can be robbed by a giant company instead of apologizing for robbing you. Who am I to hire lawyers for such a giant company? I had already returned the car to them but I lost the case as even the consumer protection unit could not solve this problem. It does not help to have such a unit that fails its own consumers. They have connections to cheat the consumers. What a bad ending
. I will never forget this. This is how they get rich and we remain poor.

Absolutely love this car in its 250e format. The hybrid concept works MUCH better than it does on the Mini PHEV I had as a company car previously, or the 3 series PHEV I had. The ONE big issue I have found with this car is that there is a really weird tremor between the front door and cockpit insulation. Mainly irritates when engine powered. Otherwise love this car!!! Premium finish actually doesn't come with a sunroof or adaptive lights anymore. Agreed with the frustrating lack of a decent grab handle on the boot, and the stupid lack of a skip track button on the wheel MAJOR OVERSIGHT. But to be honest it has everything you need... Except for lumbar support. A solid 9/10 from me.

Matt you say you cant skip music track using the steering wheel controls.. but you can by swiping left or right on the black touch button on the left hand-side of the wheel
You can actually do it from the wheel if you select the middle menu to be on media/radio which is the most useful one anyway
Matt, great review as always but slightly disapointed there was no comparison to A Class Saloon, surely there is a degree of crossover here?, would be interested to know how the back seats etc of the 2 compare CLA verses A Class Saloon. Thanks
I have sat in both and the saloon is way better. Foot space is still tight so that 3 people in the back would be a squeeze in both cars. But head space and the overall seating position is just better in the saloon.

Don't do it! These are poorly built shitboxes with french engines, that are gonna lose half their value in a year. You'll also be dealing with Mercedes dreadfull customer support.
Same! Ordered the 250 in June, was expecting delivery in August, then pushed to September, now told it will be late October! Just want the car already 😭
@@ShootingPermit Engines are only french in the smaller options, I went with 250 which is German. I also don't really care about value as I just trade it in after 3 years and get something newer. Also I have a 1 on 1 dealer who has been amazing since I've ordered.

You don’t have to go into the system to skip track you can just swipe up or down with your thumb on the touch button on the steering wheel...
About the skip button on wheel, I usually keep the center speedometer, and in the left side I have the media display. That because I usually run with android auto (the reason I switched to Merc after owning 5 BMWs). So if you keep up your media display, then you can skip track with the touch control in one move. I agree the infotainment is better than in BMW once it got the touch-screen, the feature I miss most in my 2019 E-Class !!!. Keep up the good work, and thank you for the reviews.
You can skip tracks easily by swiping across the skip button on the touch pad ;)

Got rid of my 2017 CLA 250 4matic because the dual clutch did not like stop and go traffic. I loved everything else about it, except my daily commute. It didn't know what gear to be in and clunked constantly (despite many trips to MB service)

I agree, it is a nice looking car. M-B newly designed entire lineup looks far better than the previous generations. My only criticism about the looks of this model are that the wheels seem a bit small for the size and shape of the car. 0:44 If you opted for the larger rims and tires that are just at least an inch larger, I think it would look better.

Samuel Bomorse sadly they use fake leather all over, even on those real leather seats they put vinyl on some parts so it’s not full leather. S Class gets a lot of artico also, of course full leather is an option for areas like the dashboard. Not on a bmw though...

The interior still feels cheaper than a regular C class. It was very noticeable when I had one as a courtesy car compared to my W205. Pay a bit extra and step up a car level.

I had a CLA 200 for a couple of days while my wife's car was being serviced. I agree with most of what you say. I wanted to like it but sadly, I found the performance from the 1.3 turbo engine to be pathetic.

Nice to see manufacturers finally adopting USB-C. In the future you should review them and note what type of fast charging (if any) they use and maximum power rate if they are USB Power Delivery i.e. can they fast charge a notebook?

My mom is considering to go for the Mercedes CLA as her next car in used form so it looks stylish and good to carry our luggage although service can be expensive and not good for carrying rear passengers despite we rarely carry six-footers so no big deal there!

They're not great and really do need to be adjustable, but you can get comfortable...eventually. It takes a whole load of fiddling to get the seat in the right position though.

I loved the look on the older model, but the interior looked like the one on a Skoda Rapid. It's a premium vehicle, it should look and feel like one. Glad they fixed it on the new one(well, sort of).

I’ve never heard anyone saying ‘BMW’ so much when reviewing another car
I had a 2019 CLA250 4Matic as a loaner for a month towards the beginning of the year. It was a really fun car to drive but it had some issues and I certainly wouldn't purchase one of the last gen models. For reference, the car it was "replacing" was my family's 2015 C300 AMG Line fully loaded. The CLA was small, annoyingly small honestly, it had a HORRIBLE standard Mercedes audio system, and overall felt super cheap. Which was horrible because the particular car had a sticker of $42K and only had 190 miles when we got it. But it did have good gas mileage (and a cool free wheeling mode in Eco), a peppy drtivetrain, and I think it looked pretty good as well. I even managed to get my 6'7 friend in the backseat for like 5 miles without killing him. It also had really good heated seats (oddly better than my old S class, the C300, and my family's E350. ) The 4Matic system was awesome in the snow too (which was super clutch as it happened to snow quite a lot and we don't have a AWD or 4WD car. Best thing is my mom's Ford Escape that's front wheel drive...)

You don't have to use the infotainment system to skip tracks, the skip track button is on the centre console where both occupants can reach it.
not sure about the main instrumentation in gloss LCD, without any glare protection. how is the experience with it?

Why doesnt car makers do away with built in sat navs as I'm sure they age the quickest and just make the car Apple and Android friendly with a nice big screen. It would probably work out about the same. The tech in modern cars age tge quickest.. just a thought from bonnie Scotland.
