Thats Stanely Epkis version of this character. I prefer Kellaway's version of this character, he has way more iconic scenes and presence throughout the comics. Unfortunately he dies too and Peggy Brandt becomes the mask, she has a amazing battle against the Mask's rival
It seems generic. There's no user in the comics with this outfit and color scheme. Even the yellow suit isn't from the comics. Maybe a cover but not in the stories until after the movie.
@@shadowofbosstown Yeah, I think you're right. I can't even find a point in the comic where he wears this suit. It's weird cuz those guns are inspired from General Blair, a character in the comic as The mask who summons those guns
It's either Nunzio or Kellaway. I don't think it's Ipkiss. Since he(Ipkiss) didn't really wear a blue suit in the comics. Nunzio definitely did tho. That blurred head motion wasn't done by Ipkiss either. It's most likely Kellaway but Mezco purposely didn't say who and didn't put a civilian head so you can say it's whoever you want lol.
19:43 There actually is a comic with Joker and the Mask meeting, but I haven't read it so I don't know if they actually get along. Based on the covers it definitely looks like they do though.
Ssssmokin! And this The Mask figure from the gruesome yet dark comic series looks so cool especially with those head sculpt and other accessories and I am pretty sure that is Stanley Ipkus as the Mask, Overall, Awesome review
Dang, this is a super good looking figure. I have no attachment to the character so I didn't get it, but if they redo this figure in a yellow suit, I would absolute have to get it next time. That insane face with the movement is unreal. It legitimately looks like it's in motion.
Like you said this character I always felt was perfect for the Mezco treatment, and I LOVE the original comics, I think they deserve a high budget R-rated TV series treatment, so I was glad to see this get made. That said I skipped it, in general I don't collect much in the way of Mezco anymore, and whilst the head sculpts looked great I really wish they went with a more interesting outfit, there's so many different designs he had in those comics which itself could be a figure line, and I feel the one they chose was just a bit too basic for my tastes. 28:14 100% agree. That look he had in the blue suit wasn't even really his, he just wore it when he was disguised as one of the henchmen of a crime boss he wanted to kill. That all being said this figure does look like it captures the feel and like you said I hope they revisit this character again, a head sculpt where he's got skin peeling off would be crazy.
This is the Comic Version of the Mask, midtown comics surprisingly still sell his comics, you should grab his comic if your into comic books like that 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ye this feels like Epkis to me. About the shaking head...probably the Thor's hammer from Disney store exclusive one was the my first ideal accessory with moving effect. I wished it came with an unmasked head and a mask as separate accessory. I would have still preferred a yellow color on the coat and trousers. One more thought that came to mind...is the moving head can be a good idea when someone tries to make a Bruce to Hulk transformation.
@@UnparalleledUniverse can't remember now, mostly it was mixed color and yellow. In The Mask kills everyone #0, Ipkiss dresses like a police officer and kills a bunch of cops. In those panels he wears blue, but not exactly the suit from Mezco. I guess its mix of comics and the animation version which had normal Ipkiss in blue suit.
I just ordered this figure and it got me in the mood to go through all the comics again and I can tell you where all the stuff from this figure is from, cause it's kinda a generic amalgamation of multiple versions of the mask throughout the comic run. the blue suit is from the segment you mentioned from the mask returns when the mob driver gets the mask. the skull print tie is from one of the comic covers (I think issue 2), but he has a green suit on that cover. the big gun with the triple miniguns is from, I think, issue 2 of the mask: world tour when the mask becomes DA ID. and the other 2 big gun parts are from a crossover comic where the mask fought DC's lobo.
If there isn't a comic with Deadpool & the mask, there really should be. Imo it should be a partnership, not a vs. That has so much potential. All great figures, btw.
Great looking figure, they're nailed the Doug Mahnke aesthetics real well. I really wanna get this so I can display it with my McFarlane Toys Lobo, as their crossover is a huge childhood favorite of mine, though this Mask would probably be a little out of scale with him.
Lol holy shit, I opened the Batman Forever Riddler during this review and didn't realize the slight connection till the end of this review, so that was fun. Which btw I think is a very nice figure, the body proportions are great, joint cuts are very good, Got a head sculpt with super clean eye and mouth paint, and I think the resemblance is there. The diaper piece is like fitted super well and doesn't standout in an ugly way. A few inaccuracies but just small things. It's a great body for characters with that same build but knowing toddy mac he won't reuse it over something else similar but worse lol. This Mask figure is pretty amazing though, that suit and fit is like perfect, love the headsculpts too, that in motion one could be contender for accessory of the year lol. Awesome review!
@@UnparalleledUniverse I think Mezco or Fresh Monkey Fiction. I know FMF made a 5” Madman but last year at one of the cons one of the companies had an unpainted fully articulated 6” scale Madman on the floor. Have been looking for it ever since…
Be honest, they could reuse everything just change the design of the jacket and pants to make it a cartoon accurate mask with the yellow and black and white
I really hope we get a variant of either the Kelloway version or the punk one that you see in the cover art. Also I think this design is based on the time a mafia getaway driver got ahold of the Mask then kills his way to the top for control
I don't mean to be an azz but honestly, I think Mezco makes ugly figures that look pretty sh!t for their price. They all look chunky too, they remind me of the old stretch armstrong figures. Plenty of other companies that give you waaaaay better quality figures than Mezco for the same price. These are basically... dolls.
Huge thank you @1StopToyShop for sending this out to me!

Remember as a kid finding the Mask comic book.
Was surprised how dark it was.
hahahah for real! They are super dark and mean spirted

Great Figure and great review!
You're right that whatever position you put it in, it looks like he's moving. Amazing articulation.
More facial expressions are a must! Totally agree with UU.
Those gun accessories are the best!!! I hope to pick this up one day.
oh yeah man, they are ridiculous! Buy 1 less Odious and pick up the Mask! haha
I wish it came with a Stanley head
It would have been cool if it came with a few different human heads since its unclear who its supposed to be.
His revolver is too cool looking.
Heck yeah!
Looks amazing! Can't wait for mine
Dang, quality is crissssppppp. I can see the threads in the jacket. Sweet review
The rubby ducky in the kitchen sink on the gun is just perfect

Very apt that mezco chose a character known as "big head" for their one:12 line lmao
One of my favorite Jim carrey movies
Love this.
How’d you snag that hellboy already? Need that!!
It was released a few years ago. The new one is a rerelease
Get the Halloween 2 from mezco please
god i love the mask comics
I like the character and the concept but I'm not crazy about the comics.
Bro why’d you do me dirty 😭 I was like oooou I want this but it’s so much money 😭
Dang, no head swap with the movie Mask figure.
What table do you have ?
Does a virgin of the mouses is the comic book version of the mass becomes a mob boss yes I’m an expert Optimus. I’m a big comic book nerd.
@Unparalleleduniverse he's definitely Green and Retired!
green AND retired?

They should have just called it a big head figure. There's no alt human head or the mask itself. Kinda weird.

a new Scud would be dope! It would be hard to top the Shocker version though!
