  • Every stroke recovery exercise program should include this exercise to have the BEST arm movement.

I did the exercises in this video so many times that the passive range of movement become an active movement. God bless you Dr. Tobias for helping us stroke survivors.

please give me some advice. My father had a stroke the past week and now he cannot move his left arm and leg 😞 cannot even smile or talk right even the voice is weak . How long did it take for you to recover and did you recover fully?
how long did it take for you to be able to do walks again( that's what he loves the most 😞).

@@MAN9027 See if given proper treatment....medicine and physiotherapy.....walking can start in about 1 month to 40 days after stroke....speech can improve within few weeks with proper speech therapy...... full recovery takes time.....say 7 to 8 months depending on the health since each individual is unique with different health conditions...but remember never stop the medicines as prescribed by doc and plus physiotherapy is a must.. I hope u got what u wanted to know....
Btw how is ur father now? How much is the improvement? It's been more than a year I saw ur comment todya

Hello. I just wanted to make a quick comment. First Thank you, so very much. I cannot express, how much your channel is helping my wife. She suffered a severe stroke. And, then did therapy for six months. And we did not realize how much she was falling behind, with the therapy she had. To put it nicely. The video's you put out are a God send. Your are absolutely amazing, with how relevant and helpful you are. I guess, I already, overshot a quick comment. So I will stop there. Again, Thank you , thank you.

After 3 and half years I started reaching out with my paralyzed arm. I did a lot of weight bearing exercises. I believe that helped me a great deal. The saying that ywhat you get back within a year that’s the function that you will keep” is definitely not true. That one year mark is way off because our brain is still working after a year as well. The brain will not go out of business so to say after a year. 😀

Insurance makes me so mad that they cut off payments if you haven’t made enough progress per them. Obviously there are no stroke victims in their office that has input on how critical therapy is. I got dismissed from the hospital a week after my stroke as I hadn’t made enough progress per their scale which they applied to everyone. They didn’t take into consideration how severe the stroke was. And then I picked a rehab place to send me to that was on their list of acceptable places to continue therapy. I picked one that was closest to my home. It was a disaster. It was basically a last stop nursing home. They didn’t know what to do with me. They had no program for stroke victims. Most of the people there where in those lay down flat wheelchairs. . I was not in that bad of shape. I was in a regular wheelchair that I pushed myself in. That place was a waste of money and time. I never had the same therapist two days in a row. It set me back so much. I was at two different rehab places after that horrible nursing home. I can walk now but still have a gait belt and a real OT which I’m about to lose because of insurance. I love these videos. ThNk you so much. Dr Tara. Are you a medical dr OT PhD?

My husband Don and I want to thank you for your TH-cam therapies. You explain everything thoroughly and then show him how to do it. That has been so important to see it actually done so he can do them at home.
When he does the shoulder flexion laying down I help with the affected arm and when he reaches back to the 90° his fingers open up. We were so happy to see that happened but when he is sitting to do that range of motion of course he can't go up that high so his fingers does not open up.
    Is this normal?

I had a stroke last year in January, I had really bad nightmare and anxiety really bad I couldn't really sleep stay still concentrate, let along workout to do any of these exercises, I couldn't do no therapy Theraphy or anything, and when I did get a chance to go, it went good, until they did 3 treatments of electric shocks on my upper thing and leg beneath the knee, after that..I noticed a big difference in my affected leg, it was stuffer, hard to do my workouts that I knew, and had learned, the bottom of Mt foot feels like a tight fist, it just seems like I lost what I learned and able to do good, before they did those 3 shock treatments on my stroke leg, so I didn't let them do no more, I didn't like how it made my leg feel, and I found myself feeling like I will never get my arm and leg use and strength back, because of the mental delay I had for the first year slmost, and it Makes it hard, when you feel like their not really listening to you, they say it's suppose to wake up/strengthen your muscles, but it feels like it did more harm, than good to me, I don't know where to turn for more help, I'm still not able to use my arm and leg, like I need to, do you have any suggestions, that could help lead me, in the right direction

Hi, what can one do if there is an issue with the thumb? The muscle between the thumb and first finger seemed to have lost muscle mass after stroke. It's rather odd seeing that on my mum's right hand. How can we build that up? Thanks

I have mild weakness on my left side after brain cancer surgery and a seizure, I have a tendency to run into things, and my spatial awareness is off, so I struggle typing Like my pinky hits the caps lock when I mean to hit A or tab.. My symptoms aren't as severe as most, but this video definitely helps me understand that rehabilitation is possible
If you have any recommendations on how to regain precision on fingers, that would be nice. for now I'm just rubbing it and practice typing as much as I can.
