  • Welcome to our video guide on Stroke Recovery Exercises: Overcoming Arm Stiffness. If you’re in stage 2 of stroke recovery, you might be experiencing muscle stiffness, or spasticity, and tight tendons. This can make movements, especially against gravity, challenging. You might start to regain some movement, but not fully. At this stage, passive range of motion is still crucial.
In this video, we’ll guide you through a series of occupational therapy exercises designed to help regain strength and range of motion in your arm. The exercises included are:
    Trunk Rotation
    Shoulder Rotation
    Gentle Rocking
    Diagonal Reaching
    Arm Turning
Consistency is key in stroke recovery. Please be consistent with your home therapy. Let’s exercise our minds and bodies to get stronger together. Remember, every step counts when it comes to stroke recovery

Thank you Nathan for your wonderful videos!
2 months ago I had a stroke that turned my life upside down. Now that I'm out of rehab and on my own, your videos are a huge help.
I follow your stroke channel and I am more than enthusiastic.
Your positive charisma and the simplicity of your explanations are not only therapeutic, but also entertaining.
Keep your positivity and keep it up.
    Thanks a lot for this

Nathan, My wife had a stroke 15 months ago. We have been to OT and PT at half-a-dozen specialized hospitals. We're thankful for all of their help. We recently found your videos and we go over two videos of yours everyday. You are very knowledgeable and you communicate so well and are easy to follow. We are very thankful for your expertise and help. We are providing links to your videos to our current OT/PT people.

Hey Nathan!! I’m sending you this message from my uncle who had a major stroke almost 1 week ago and his insurance doesn’t cover any type of rehab/therapy so I found you and your at home stroke therapy series and we have already started doing your exercises and my uncle says if I hadn’t found you on TH-cam he doesn’t know what he would do…he can follow your instructions and he’s working SO HARD to get better and it’s honestly because of you so from Clifford in Alabama he sends you a HUGE THANK YOU for helping save his life!!! We love you for doing these Nathan you are truly an inspiration!!!! 🫶🫶💙💚🫠🫤😐🤗💙💚🫶🤗🤗

If only I had accessed these videos after my five months in the rehab hospital. The work I needed had yet to be covered before I went stir crazy. In the six years since my discharge from rehab, I have used housekeeping and cooking and patio gardening to keep me flexible, strengthen me, and provide the repetitive movement I need. Since my stroke wasn’t treated for 15 hours, stiffness of the knuckles has been equally as frustrating as weakness. I write to say your video has drawn me back to practice repetitive movements. I will look for more, save them, then create routine practice time. I have the time and the place. Thank you.

Hello Nathan. Thank you for the exercises that you share. Very helpful.
My mom, 86 years old, had a hip surgery and stroke 3 days after. Those were 3 years ago. She didn’t have any therapy because we can’t afford the charges, not covered by any heath insurance.
Fast forward, just a month and a half ago, she had a very bad infection and it affected the prosthetic metal put 3 years ago. This surgery removed the prothetic metal.
Is there any exercise you can recommend for her legs and hips? Would greatly appreciate your recommendation. Thanks and may God bless you and the work of your hands.

    Can you please explain
How to break the upper extremity synergy pattern??

    • @SKILLSANDWELLNESS
      @SKILLSANDWELLNESS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

First you have to inhibit it. Stretching, gentle massage, weight bearing and the like. It it where if you have flexor synergy, you need to be able to extend the arm
