Butchers HUGE AXE Restoration - TRIPAS 2
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 4 มิ.ย. 2024
- Restoration of a butchers HUGE AXE. It is a TRIPAS 2 from Spain early 1900s. So this is Antique.
THE RESTORATION PROCESS
I dissembled the axe handle from the axe head and cleaned it before I did the sandblasting. I rugged the metal up with a cleaning disc after sandblasting to achieve the rough cold steel look. I did leave all the old marks on this Tripas to retain that rough old butchers look.
I decided to give the brand name TRIPAS more attention, so I drew a new logo to the axe head which I processed in Adobe Photoshop and later AI to make a cool vector that I can transfer to CAD in my fiber laser system. It is a complicated process and it takes many hours of drawing, scaling, programming, and tiny adjustments to achieve a perfect laser engraving result.
I fitted an old axe handle that I had in my garage to the project and engraved the name in the handle. Hope that you enjoyed the project.

Hi Alex, thank you so much for your kind words I really appreciate it ❤
Alex, I had the feeling awesome restorations may have worked in production at one time. His knowledge of production is remarkable.
Also the technological experience in computer cad work for designing the bull emblem is impressive.
Don't forget the Spanish guitar at the end. Also the type of guitar piece selected. Soft subtle calming music. Sort of tranquil.
A piece set in the era the axe was made perhaps. Lots of thought and love goes into producing this movie.
I really agree
That laser part was wicked. I didn’t even know that kinda technology existed
Same, future around the corner
You should check out ferric chloride etching. That's pretty neat too
Check out a channel called styropyro for more laser vids~
They aren't quite like this laser but he does explain the science behind these lasers and even builds lasers stronger than this one lol
And then he put that tripas on the chain wax! Key and Peele would be proud.
That must be a CNC machine and the bull must be a dxf file used for the software.
Even with all the technology you were able to keep its beauty. I absolutely enjoyed the time I spent watching you restore the past. I con only hope others can enjoy our past as well. Thank you for recording yourself work👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks a lot
I like how you slightly modernized it but left its old worn beauty intact...you sir a true craftsman.

As an andalusian and Spanish this brings me lots of memories from my grandpa's axe collection that he used for all sorts of stuff like gardening, hunting and butchering. I still use one of his axes that I restored myself. Never forget that objects have history too, a history worth preserving and enjoying, and most important, a history worth passing on.
Hi, thanks for your comments it's nice to read that others also enjoy objects with a history :)
Without a doubt, old tools, equipment, furniture, firearms, coins and anything, well preserved, have a fascinating charm for some of us who just happen to have a sense of apreciation that unfortunately most people lack, seeing any thing which is not new as trash.

The way the pencil just broke again after just being sharpened tho
IK! It triggered me SO bad
I make a new one.... wait wrong channel!
It was very relatable
This was enthralling. When I was with Dallas as a rookie, one of the jobs was refinishing the handles and axe heads. Scraping the wood with broken glass then whipping the handle and refinishing with the unit info. The heads were sanded and painted to 1" shy of the live edge.
I came across a throw away head (busted handle) and being inherently lazy I decided to build a charcoal fire in a can and burn out the wood. It worked and when I carded the rust off of the head I found I had a deep, deep blued finish. It's in my personal collection now.
thanks a lot for your comment I really appreciate it :)

Tripas actually means guts, so the logo is a bit overwhelming
wtf, that's kinda dark

As russians said: It should be shorter, one handed, all laserwork adding unnecesarry spots where blood and mess can buildup. But very nice video, very nice work!
The laserwork is pretty easy to clean with a stiff bristled scrubbing brush and a basin of hot water.
that and using chemicals like chain oil on a food processing tool....

Skill is only defined by the practice, effort, and knowledge put into the thing you wish to do. The guy in the video was at some point a novice as well.
