Antique Meat Cleaver Restoration - 105 Years old

- Restoration of a huge antique meat cleaver from Italy. See this 100 years old and very raw butcher tool getting restored into a real beauty.
THE RESTORATION PROCESS
I disassembled the shaft from the cleaver blade and welded the pin holes together. I sandblasted the back side and heated the metal to get the blade straight. Then a full annealing process at 879 degrees Celsius to reduce the hardness and internal stress in the metal of this meat cleaver. I grinded a new cutting edge in a 30-degree one side angle. After that I heat treated the metal and gained a 60-62 HCR (Rockwell hardness scale)
I did etch the cleaver on both sides and created a beautiful new handle of an old piece of hickory wood. I finish the project with a nice little laser engraving and some very cool decorations.

He's putting hours and hours into making those beautiful pieces and recording the process. Months later he's still hearting comments. You can tell he's really passionate and genuinely appreciates having people recognizing the literal art he's making.

I like how he lows the volume on the noisy gadgets, for us...... thank you so much
Yes if he didn't do that my parents would have grounded me for staying up late Lmao
My weak ears say thank you on that behalf

Covering up the flash lights during welding would also be appreciated.
@@43painter those are clearly not flashlights 💀💀
Many people fail to realize, this is art. It is as beautiful as painting, and its very underrated.
Love your work brother.
Thank you so much 😀
It like working of art I wood say I no so good video I wood say
I’m never even gonna lie, I literally don’t like watching other restorations but yours, and I literally just typed up your channel just to watch your vids, keep up the good work my guy

4:44 Anyone else notice the face or it's just me😮?!
Looked like a skull.
Same here - like a skull or T1000 or somethin like that
I noticed it too!
I think he added some horror ambience to this one, on account of it being an ancient meat cleaver, cleavers being associated with murder and slasher villains.

Breaks handle apart
AR: Sadly the handle is too broken to re-use
Me: Well it is now 😄
ha ha ... ;-) ... it really was
@@AwesomeRestorations I know, you should have put it up before you took it off. 😉
Lesley Young Exactly what I was thinking. 🤣
Shame about the handle 😥
Imagine that, a knife restorer who didn't find his project at the bottom of a boggy creek. He simply made it better then new. Well done Sir.
thank you so much 😊
You have all the necessary tools that make your tasks doable.
SWEET!!!
The dark red was a nice one ... I would choose that for a handle
Thanks for watching and yes the dark wood is really beautiful too 😉👍
Agreed,
Me too
Yeah if I was restoring it id go for the red wood
Same here
You need to create some merch with the slogan “This needs sandblasting.”
I really should yes 😂 maybe I will
You should make t-shirt about it and wear it on your next vid :)
@@AwesomeRestorations Do You Even Blast? Lol, cheers!
I would purchase a T-Shirt with that slogan as a banner.
That would be awesome😂😂
This man means serious business, if he wants a Heineken all he needs to do is turn around, lol, seeing the skull in the heated metal was also a nice touch
thanks, glad you like it :)
Can't be the only person who find these videos both insanely relaxing and satisfying in ewual measure. Great work. Appreciated.
thank you so much I appreciate it 😊
These videos are a metaphor for life. They remind me that what you see on the surface doesn't determine potential. The work you put in determines what your final product will be. Put in the work, and you'll get something beautiful out of it.
Thanks for watching Kevin and for your kind words I really appreciate it 😉👍
Kevin Jones - Your comment is one of the top five, if not the BEST, comment I have ever read in the TH-cam's comments section of any video. Good for you, you are very insightful.
ASMR blacksmithing, this...is...I'm in love.
Wow, that 💀 that appears at 4:23 was so cool!
I never skip a second and most of the time I go back 15 seconds to watch it again. Now I will have to binge watch other videos 👍
thank you so much :)
I’m so use to you not talking. I thought someone broke in my house when you started speaking lol.
ha ha ... sorry Ricardo ;-)
It seems like the majority of these restoration channels are dead silent as far as speech. I assumed that they probably didn't even speak English and just kept quiet to keep their content more universal.
I'm so damn glad you are getting sponsors! Your content is so good, you've deserved this recognition for a long time
thanks you are too kind
I love how you restored it to a point where it’s in way better shape than what it was but it’s still got that used look like it’s been through a lot.. as if it was used for years and years and is still holding up. You didn’t use any bonding to fill the imperfections or cracks and you didn’t polish the whole thing like you see everyone else doing. It looks good! Something unique in a way
thank you so much :)
That face on the blade as you're heating it! Brilliant
glad you like it :)
Man, the amount of patience,
I wish i have those

Anything this guy touches turns to gold. Extremely impressed!
many thanks :)
@@AwesomeRestorations you're welcome!
I loved the look on this. Most of the metal look rusted and pitted, but a mirror finish on the edge. The custom etched end cap was great. I'm jealous. Wish I could find a piece like this to work on.
thanks a lot :)
Как всегда на высшем уровне!
Согласен!

Huh?
OMG, I dropped acid about 40 minutes before watching this. You wouldn’t believe the voices I heard and images I saw on what has to be a haunted cleaver!
Oh there's definitely f***** up noises in this video! A few times I heard what sounded like something heavy swinging from a rope
@@beeski2922 don't encourage him!
Yes encourage him
Acid is so fun, lol. I've had some great experiences on it.
Check the minute 4:43 I'm sure you're going to see a skull on the blade
Ah, the face in the metal from 3:17 to 3:21, and with the creepy music. Man I love this man's work and his videos. I would love to know if he ever sells any of these items he restores, I would shell out good money for some of these items for sure.
thanks so much Justin for your kind words I really appreciate it :)
Saw that too! On purpose?

This will not keeelll...
You didnt make the cut...
Yeah, that blade was made by an apprentice or someone not even trying.
brilliant brilliant brilliant , so i need a sand blaster a welder and a work bench that flips over just like yours , and also the skill of an artist , you are fantastic , marvellous restoration , i could watch you work all day . the steel must be really good on the old cleaver .
thanks I appreciate your kind words :)
That is marvelous how you restored that old meat cleaver. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work as usual. So good to see old articles restored to their former glory.
Thank you very much!
Love the background sounds!!! They make the videos so calming! Love it!
Thank you so much 🤗
Классный как всегда ролик. Спасибо за субтитры!!))) P.S. *нормальный запас пива!!!)))*
Love the subtle skull overlay at 3.19 when heating up the cleaver to straighten it up.
thanks :)
I absolutely love the cosmetic appearance of old, worn, rough and used knives and blades. It adds such a perfect amount of savagery and fearsomness.
Old, worn, and rough knives and blades are worthless. There is absolutely ZERO savagery and fearsomeness behind a rusted/dilapidated blade.
