Creating a Labyrinth Maze for Walking Meditation | Monk Life

  • This is a story of how the monks at the Papae Meditation Retreat in Chiang Mai, Thailand came together to build a labyrinth maze (a maze for walking meditation). While this video is 11 minutes long, it actually took 2 full months of hard physical labor. The goal was to build a space where future retreat participants can use to improve their meditation. With love, we wanted to show you this project. Hopefully it will inspire you to either come to Thailand and visit us or create your own space for meditation wherever you are :) haha. Beautify your inner world, and it will begin to beatify your outer world. Hope you enjoy! Let us know how we did below. #buddhistmonks #asmr

    **Amazing creation**
As I stepped onto this meditation retreat I was lost but centered. I cleaned and swept the holy grounds. Silence became even more quiter as I got farther into the jungle. Before my very eyes was this "Maze". Then I remembered this video and felt as if the Maze found me.
I figured try it and see what there was in this peaceful art work.
Firstly I immediately found my mind trying to find the fastest way to the end or alternative routes. I then realize to just focus on my breath and foot movements. Lifting moving and placing my foot. I was filled with a sense of security and enjoyment for the moment at being. "Serenity"
No more expectactions just in the moment. At the finish realize the maze was one way and walked the whole thing. In aMazement it was a nice movement meditation.

Went here in Nov. 2021 for a retreat for the Loy Krathong festival. I love walking meditation and was delighted to find this maze. Because of covid and the lack of international visitors the maze hadn’t been used in quite a while. But I could see it had taken a lot of effort and intention to create it. So happy to find this video. I gave the maze a good sweeping and it cleaned up nicely. Takes about 30 - 45 minutes to gently walk the maze.

Hi Nick. To respond: I found one for the first time in a festival in the UK with no explanation about it. After observing it I started to walk through it like I see you do in this video and it did feel like a meditation; I think there must be some kind of intuitive connection to this kind of walking ritual in all humanity, because it came quite natural to me and I'm familiar with meditation but I'm not Buddhist, so didn't now about how you use it. Thanks for the video! :)

  • @nibiruresearch

The labyrinth that we see at 1 min is not the classic labyrinth so it can not be explained. We find the classic labyrinth all over the world. Very ancient ones. The labyrinth represents the increase and decrease of the world population during a cycle of seven world eras. It represents the path of life from mankind. This cycle is the curse of our Planet Earth. The eras are separated by a natural disaster. Those disasters are caused by the ninth planet in our solar system. They are predictable but inevitable. The disasters cause a huge tidal wave thus flooding all over the planet, earthquakes, volcano eruptions and a bombardment of fiery meteors. Many living beings do not survive. Another result is a cycle of five civilizations. Four of them live a 'short' period of time. One civilization lives much longer, becomes more numerous and educated. The labyrinth shows this increase and decrease in a remarkable way. To learn much more about the cycle of civilizations and its timeline, recurring floods and ancient high tech, read the e-book:"Planet 9 = Nibiru" You can read it nicely on any computer, tablet or smartphone. Just search for: invisible nibiru 9
