  • This is Why You're Unhappy | Buddhist Monk explains Concept of "Alignment"
Many people are unhappy, but they may not know why. As we know, there are many reasons why people can feel unsatisfied; however, today, I wanted to introduce you to a new concept. This is simply ONE of the many concepts. This is the concept of "alignment." The premise is that when what one think, speak and act does not align. When this happens, it will cause you some some suffering and/or discomfort. I hope you take this as another nugget of information in your toolbox of arsenal. Use this as a tool to look at your life and improve it as you see fit. I hope this helps :) #monks #mentalhealth #buddhism

I was stuck in that idea of productivity sacrificing my health cause I wanted to achieve more and do more. Past year I realized taking care of my body it is important but back that time I wasn't feeling completely "fine" I needed to pay attention to my mental health.
I started my therapeutic process at february this year and my therapist and I are working on what's important for me, what are my own values... I noticed I internalized all those ideas related to productivity but that's not the life I want to live.. now I am practicing on recognize what I really want and being coungruent with it even if its not what the world say you should do.

I think this book is really eye opening. from birth we are leaving our nature to get approvl from the people around us . When you are in integrity(or alignment with yr soul) and make the voice in yr head shut up(culture) and listen to yr heart and soul and body(feelings manifest in the body and are telling you are in or out of alignment.

    Nick,
I have know this since 1988 at my age of 22. I have been constantly told to “do as the Romans do”, to “play the game” to reap the “rewards” by doing those things, but in attempting to do that, I’ve not been in alignment with my authenticity in all that time. It took an ex-girlfriend to say, “I know who I am” - which was what I had been saying in all my time to my family - after she left our relationship, for me to dig deeper and to investigate what “who I am” meant in the heart and soul in that deeper level. I found that we as a culture are too busy with the ‘doing’ instead of connecting with what is truly in our hearts and naturally emanating from there.
Now, I am reconnecting with my authenticity in order to bring about my true alignment: that is, I start matching my authentic behaviours with my true self, my true essence.
It has been a emotional journey and it is continuing.
Thank you for your enlightened video. 🙏

In my 51 year path as a Taoist Monk...the basic pillars of Love...Kindness...Compassion and Joy are great starts. It always starts from within...ALWAYS. Everything of true spiritual value ...starts on the inside. You can't give what YOU don't have. And have a GREAT mentor.

@J Prez I had the most fortunate circumstances to study Taoism from a very early age. It immediately spoke to my heart...spirit...and soul. I had 3 of the most PHONOMENAL teaches. As life goes...all three have passed. The last Sifu taught me for 20 years. In that time...I was fortunate enough to become a teacher myself. I have been incredibly blessed with great teaches and mentors. The Virus has not been helpful in the past months. But I'm always open to new experiences and information to continue pursing the Path. Most recently...I've stumbled onto a wonderful opportunity on line. Master Gu of Wudang Mountain in China has on-line study courses which I appreciate. Not able to travel there yet. But what a find. Taoism has provided infinite blessings to m
e over the years...as have the instructors.

I went through severe poverty in my childhood. So it is understood that such a life was without my will and guilt. It was a very difficult period that I barely survived. An easy life can make us sluggish, unmotivated, it can make us numb, but if we keep reality in our head, then it's okay to live comfortably, in the luxus of civilization. For some, poverty brings enlightenment and frees them from the excess burden created by possessions, and for some it is just an additional burden that they should not carry. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I wish you success in finding all the grace you seek and spreading it to others.

I have happened onto something really exciting to me! I came across the term "prepper" as a title to some ppl on u tube. What is it all about? One person talks about living below what is called minimum existence ($715 per month for EVERYTHING!). It is living life the way my folks did in the 40s on up. They lived prepared! I'm so excited about this. She lives w/o debt, for one thing & owns a small home.
What this "movement" speaks to is living prepared, just like you & fellow monks show us & most everybody did 70 years ago.
