Ford ran 3.31's in the 2013/2014 GT500's for a few reasons. They ran 3.31's primarily to achieve the 200mph benchmark they used to help market the car; taller gears = higher top speed. Also, with this gear ratio, it allows the car to hit 62mph in 1st gear, which equates to a quicker 0-60 time by eliminating the need to shift into 2nd. Lastly, in a rear wheel drive car with 662hp and 630tq, having a taller gear ratio makes putting the power down easier (vs just spinning the back tires) AND it also helps a little with fuel consumption as well - even though it's still pretty thristy.
I got a GT500 2013, convertible exactly the same color, same specs, would be nice to see them both side by side! Great review, totally agree with you! I bought the car brand new and it is still 100% stock. The dealer where I bought it from, offered me to buy it back for more then I paid for...
Wow thats my dream car too. Congrats! The open grills always scare me - rocks and bugs on the engine cooler parts. But I could live with that if I owned a 14 one. I got a head unit with a back up cam for my 07 GT500 - also u can get a front cam to protect the front splitter. License plate cams are the easiest.
Perfect spec on your GT500. Looks like you have original Goodyear’s on the rear. Def replace those. I switched mine to PS4S all around and it became a completely different car.
I Have a 2014 and I would say the best mod I put on was a MGW Shifter. You should do that as your 1st mod. You will love it! The stock shifter is garbage!
The blue with white stripes looks great. Surprised Ford didn't put some sort of grill on the front end, radiators are totally exposed. Have fun with it, be safe.
Change out the intake resonator plus a good tune it will pull great from 4--7k. probly 30--50 hp gain in that area. factory tune shuts down throttle bodies in that rev range. big flat spot on dyno.

I wanted one so bad. Actually, I still do. I test drove a loaded 16 GT and then the 500. I was shocked at how much nicer the S550 felt. It was just a nicer place to be. Logically I had to get the 16 car. All my car needs is boost, but I feel like that makes me think the 500 will be the better choice. Oh m sure I made the right purchase, I’m just reluctant to add boost. The 500 was built for boost…
2015 and newer really modernized the platform and updated the interior. The 500 is the last raw “muscle car”. You do feel a little bit special when sitting in a 500 because you know what it is

I got a 2014 gt500 black with white stripes from Carvana about a year ago. It’s got kooks headers and kooks exhaust . It’s loud as crap when you get down on it . You can’t hear the supercharger like in the 2008 gt500 I used to have with a ford racing exhaust .
It’s a later model year the early 14 Shelby’s have the mustangs my brother and I both own 14’s mines red white stripes his triple black out I got mine early #136 of 4816 coupes made he ordered his after driving mine his shows the cobra mine the horse kinda peeves me off hahahahaha
Just saw your video. Nice summary and review. Same spec as my car except I got the glass roof. Had it since new and it has 35,000 miles. Do you have 81,000 miles or 8.100? Either way it looks super clean, congrats on finding it. One suggestion on the clutch, there is a factory helper spring that was put on these cars to reduce pedal effort. I removed mine after a few hundred miles. The clutch effort did not noticeably change but the engagement was a lot smoother and consistent. Best mod I ever made next to the catch can. Search the SVT Forum for the details.
Does your Shelby differential vent cap ever leak on yours? Its at the very top of the cover. They say if it is over filled it will do that. Thanks! Just asking. Mine is leaking very little down the side of the cover. I guess when it reaches a cerin level it will stop venting oil out?
@@liftingandshifting9086 Nice! Maybe someone filled mine up at the vent tube? And over filled it? That is the only place it is leaking from. Small leak from the tube. After it is sitting for a while, it's not leaking.

That’s the first time I’ve ever heard someone not enjoy a 13/14 GT500, if you actually had one. A GT350 is very cool but had major engine issues and only made power up high in the RPM.

There’s an aftermarket mess that can be installed that I may look into getting

If you want better throttle response and you sometimes stall when starting out, buy a Pedal Max and you will notice a big difference.

I just have the trans and rear diff fluid changed and serviced. It didn’t have any leaks but 85k miles on mine it was good to do fresh fluids

Yes but it’s hit or miss. Newer stick vehicles have better hill assist

Check the pressure on your main seal.

Your video shows just why I sold similar car. It’s not fun to drive!! Full throttle in second gear is over 100 mph. Gt350 so much more fun to drive.
