I finally finished my 2014 LTZ. I went with the Stinger Heigh10, PAC Radio Pro RP5-GM51, TOS Link Optical to the back into a Helix Untra DSP, D'Amore Engineering E400.4, E700.4, and E1000.1. JL 13.5" sub and all Audio From Drivers.
I been using this one on my 2015 sierra 2500HD for one year+ now. Only issue I have is that sometimes the screen doesn't turn on but still play the sound, just press the reset button and it will turn on right away. They also sell a small TV box on their website so you can watch your local channels on it. Also ask them to send you the latest software Update to unlock new features, they will not send you the updates if you don't ask for them.
As attractive as a unit like this is to me, I'm a geek/long time Android user and especially with the customization and add-on capabilities; one of my biggest turn offs is how old of a version of Android they run these on. This unit is 3, almost 4, Major OS version behind. Being 1 or 2 major version behind is ok, you can usually find a really good stability level this way. Being almost 4 behind mean this unit will, sooner than later, likely stop getting major os updates. Then app compatibility and stability starts going down the drain as well. I guess, if you don't plan to keep the truck for more than a few years, it doesn't really matter. Or, you are ok with replace the unit in 2-4 years. It's a huge internal battle for me. I have a 2015.5 GMC 2500HD diesel and a unit like this could let me integrate most all of the add-on's I use regularly when towing; trailer backup/observation camera, hitch camera, tire pressure monitoring, ect. I just don't trust the long term reliability.
Same with OEM updates so to me it's apples to apples in update comparison... regardless don't imagine you would loose to many apps from lack of updates .
@@jasonhanus1115 great point, factory is vastly behind too I never understood why android auto tech is soo far behind deff should be something a manufacturer should be on top of if not have they're own division with say top manufacturers like pioneer should have a division w/apple Android etc

It seems pricey but if it works flawlessly it’s worth it 100%. I spent about $400 on my first android headunit and it crashed and was buggy 7 days out of the week. It looks amazing!!
An update on the unit would be great Matt. Looking to buy the Linkswell. However, if this unit is working well for you, it might just be the one to buy.

Awesome video. Very interested in possibly doing this to my ‘15 Denali. My only concern is the green accent lighting. The GMC trucks have red lighting instead of the green (used to have a 15 Chevy duramax too with the green). Is that accent lighting color adjustable? Thanks in advance and thanks for sharing. We swapped one in my buddys 4th gen Cummins ( looks like a 5th gen ) definitely took a bunch of time to get everything dialed in. Now it runs good, only “issue” is the initial start up time is prolly twice as long as yours was. Good 15seconds before you can use anything on the screen. Which kinda sucks but overall it’s still way worth it. If they added the option to update the software it’d be basically perfect. Imho
Hi Matt, have you looked at wireless apple carplay adapters so you can remove the need for cables? Just plug the adapter into the usb and good to go. I got one from Amazon for around $100 for my 2020 Volvo XC60 and it’s worked flawlessly for over a year now

Did I hear you say you did 0 wiring? You didn’t have to wire anything at all except I guess the gps antenna and such? And all factory controls work? Like steering wheel controls and back up camera? Omg I gotta have one like now! It’s been a few months still love it?

I really like the look of these but I was worried about losing my climate control. One thing I would suggest is the you make a gasket for the 3rd brake light because they leak in these truck and your head liner gets stained but o watch a video on TH-cam and it was super easy and I never had to worry again

First off Great Video: I think it's a super clean install and maybe I have to get rid of my CD's lol because I really like it. My only concern would be I have read the tablet thingy is an older system and wish there was an optional upgrade to get a newer tablet (not a comp guy but understand some). I do hope in say 6 months you do an update on it with pros & cons Though price has dropped, few yrs ago GM wanted to charge me something like $300 to do a map update which i told them to kick rocks. I mainly use my phone but as I said to GM I do have a Garmin I spent say $150 on it has free traffic & updates for life yet top of the line Chevy doesn't. One question how is the Bluetooth connection? For some reason every now and than my stock one won't connect. So add that to other crap you mentioned has me thinking about this setup. Though not an Apple user Though I'm personally not a fan of newer Chevys(can't wait to see 24 GMC 2500 in person). I do think this truck and whatever you do may and/or hopefully get more views because with current climate alot of people are either buying or keeping older trucks. Though mine is a baby(1500) it does have the 6.2L Gas(if i had the $$$ I have looked at super charger) . When I priced out a new or newer truck in 2020 I couldn't justify getting a newer truck, now forget prices lately that's if you can get one. Though I think the side pocket is actually clean option, not sure if you thought of it but was thinking, though could be a complete pita but if you replaced the 2 USB ports inside the center console b/c console is already notched out for cord management. Not sure if you need it but console vaults work well. Lastly besides getting my sub, if you need any ideas though I haven't finished upgrading mine(fun money has gone to other peojects) but will say best upgrades (besides radio) Morimoto XB Headlights originally did HID which worked but these are worth the money, when I got it in 17 with stock projectors HID worked well! Was on fence of getting them color matched even though I trust those that do them I have really really bad luck and was afraid there would be and issue, I do have XB Fogs & blacked out xb taillights as well. But will say the new Alpha-Rex Tails look sort of interesting in a good way. Not only lights are unique design(not normal gm tail shape) but the amber switch backs do make them stand out. I was about to pull the trigger on the Stinger CHEVY SILVERADO/GMC SIERRA (2014-2018) HEIGH10 10" TOUCHSCREEN RADIO PLUG-AND-PLAY REPLACEMENT KIT. Now I'm second-guessing my decision. The HEIGH10 is not compatible with the Bose System so I would have to replace the AMP and speakers. I have a 2014 Z71 LTZ.
I have the same truck, kind of, it's GMC 14, SLT, so it has the Bose sound and a CD player. And being an older guy, and haveing bunch of CDs, I like to upgrade the display, etc, but keep the CD player, not sure if it's possible. Do you know?
Hey Matt, I wonder about the impact resistance of the screen? Cause because is a larger surface looks easier to get hit by a object by accident and crack the screen. Did u experience anything like that??

I know you went over the brightness, but does the dimmer dial on the panel left of the steering wheel still dim or brighten it? Also how does the zone control work with out the dials?
The dimmer doesn't dim it, but it does auto dim. I'm not sure if it's based on the headlights coming on or some sensor. The climate works with the right dial, or you can use the touch screen to change all the settings.
Did you put SERGEY'S Custom firmware on this? Supposed to make it run much much better. Cost is $100 and I guess the guy will help with any problems you might have
I was just wondering what factory options you lost with this? I have read things with other units where you lose the factory microphone, steering wheel controls, satellite radio, etc.

Mine comes with the GMC logo already installed, but with the image of a Silverado. There is a video with the procedure to change all of that.

No options as it came with everything needed.

Mine is the fast boot version, maybe that’s why.
Does yours do 3 chimes a few second after it starts up? I’m not sure if there’s a way I can turn it off or what

It didn't auto update, but I did check for updates when I connected to wifi, none needed.

Oh yes it does. How the heck are they able to just mirror the oem radio when stinger makes you rip it out.
I have a 2015 Duramax as well. This would be a sweet upgrade for the truck. Can you use Google maps and still have music in the background?
I believe so, but I use Carplay, which uses maps and music at the same time.
This video made me excite about a nice upgrade until every other video is people saying not to get one and going back to their original radio unit.

No downsides with mine, works great! Wireless Carplay and Android Auto.

I like the 2020+ HD trucks, but the interior on those is no better than mine, so might as well get an older one!
14-18 better than 2019-22? Lol sure.
The 19-21s are super unimpressive. The 22s (1500) gained the better interiors, which was a nice upgrade. HDs still don't have it until 24.

I also have a 2014 Sierra 2500 SLT, but it has a CD player, and I love it. With this I have to give up the CD player, correct? Which I definitely don't want.

That’s awesome. I just purchased a 2015 Silverado 2500HD LT 6.0 gas and the one thing that I miss from my ‘21 RAM is the screen/phone connectivity. Does this screen have a warranty? What part of PA are you in? If I get one, I may have to look you up for help lol.

Do you think this screen would allow the trailering camera system to work? Front bumper cam, tailgate cam, rear center bed break light cam, side view mirror cams, and the wireless camera that gets placed behind the trailer you’re towing…. I’d LOVE a larger screen but not if I couldn’t keep my cameras functioning.

Bose System. I hear some devices don’t work if you have the Bose speakers.
They make ones for Bose and for without.
I know you went over the brightness, but does the dimmer dial on the panel left of the steering wheel still dim or brighten it? Also how does the zone control work with out the dials?
The dimmer doesn't dim it, but it does auto dim. I'm not sure if it's based on the headlights coming on or some sensor. The climate works with the right dial, or you can use the touch screen to change all the settings.
Any idea if it works with factory satellite radio? I've got Sirius XM, and listen to it all the time.

Did you put SERGEY'S Custom firmware on this? Supposed to make it run much much better. Cost is $100 and I guess the guy will help with any problems you might have

Yes, but they will have you send them a picture of your dash as well as more information to make sure they get you the correct one.

I have a 2016 Silverado 3500 and i swapped out my radio unit as well. But its not as high tech as yours. Lol. On your map you it showed Godfrey IL, are you in Illinois? I'm in St Charles Mo

I’ve had it tuned (efilive) deleted. Spent 6k in upgrades. And now, ya had to show me the stereo……..and the rear view cam. You fucker.
It's an addiction for sure lol. Diesel is the way!

When you remote start the truck does the air conditioner features still work without the key in the ignition? And does the factory microphone still work as well?
A/C works just like stock and everything else with remote start. New radio has it's own mic.
