Ah, the good ol' cup holder delete. Thanks for the video and the console bracket part #, about to do this swap myself. I ended up buying a used high country console (brown) for next to nothing which I had to paint black, as well as Phil Gamboa's wiring harness. If you haven't already, check out his DIY wiring kits their fantastic if you do end up wanting to restore those left two outlets.
I too hated the jump seat in my 2014 Silverado. Once I saw your video I got to work on ordering All the parts. Not cheap BUT totally worth it. I love my truck that much more!! Thank you!! Totally worth it!!!!
In my 15, I have that giant console. I love it. I keep my cup holders forward. Better reach for my hands. Love it. Bought the truck used, LT, and it had the console upgrade from the factory. Love it.
Great upgrade. I have crews in my trucks everyday for landscaping. Huge thing with trucks is LACK of cup holders & storage. Trucks are super expensive investments, so its very annoying when you get a truck with 2-3 cup holders for 3-5 guys....No one ever fits in front middle seat.... So switching to console installs. And, love the movable cup holder on older model. Same goes for doors almost never have much usability -- if there are cup holders -- they are small as heck -- And, the pockets never really are wide enough or have caps to protect from getting dirt & other crap falling in. Just becomes a thing to clean.....The under storage in back seat is another great upgrade. Versatility & utility should be key with these trucks. Nice job. Enjoy brother.
I have a 2015 Silverado and my center console USB and lighter no longer works. I checked the fuse to it and it’s still good. What else do I need to check? The wiring harness connection ? What? I can’t even unplug connections from harness to USB etc. please help. Thank you
I wonder what the vibration thing is all about? my 2015 is smooth as can be, I have some gripes about the truck but one of the things I am very impressed with is how smooth and comfortable of a ride it has I dont think I have ever had a vehicle so quiet and smooth as this! I added an exhaust to give it some sound, not anything crazy just enough that you know the dang thing is actually running and so it sounds a little more like what you expect a truck with a large engine should sound like rather than a sewing machine lol .I highly recommend the MBRP CAT back exhaust for this truck as well as the range brand "tuner" to delete the switching back and forth between 4 cylinder and 8 cylinder , I don't think that is a good thing to begin with and with an exhaust added you can hear it when it goes into 4 banger mode. not nessisaily a bad sound, sounds a little like the engine is doing some kind of engine braking or something , very minimal but you hear it, I could have lived with it and really bounced back and forth about ether it was worth deleting the feature but I think for the health of the engine its better to delete that ...there are a couple to choose from I bought the cheaper on that only deletes THAT feature ($200 or $250 cant recall) but wish I had bought the more expensive one that allows many more controls namely throttle response adjustments! I feel like this truck has a delayed throttle response and it is annoying. compared to my tundra it feels sluggish and laggy and it is because of how they have the throttle response set up! sorry for the long unasked for comments here, I just figure other people might be interested in these things since they were of interest to me.

Lol thanks. It all depends on use for sure. As someone who works out of my truck a lot, the extra space to set a laptop or lunch is a needed thing. Certainly not every option is for everyone. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment.
Should have hit up phil Gamboa on TH-cam he sells the matching middle console for the interior of your truck and a harness so everything works stock for like 200 bucks more. Looks cool though.
Thanks for the heads up. I did see that previously but to me the $200 wasn’t necessary. I didn’t want to push the project up closer to $1,000 just to gain an extra 12v outlet and usb hub. The truck has 3 USB ports, 12 12v outlets that I could put 4 more USB ports into push the 120v outlet. I just didn’t see spending $200 to add more power sources.
New subscriber here. I have a 2021 GMC Sierra crew cab with the center console. My dream is to mount my radio deep in the console with a false top or cover to hide it from view when it is parked. Thanks again for your video.
Thanks. I saw Phil’s stuff and I considered it but I just didnt want to spend that much to get a couple extra plugs. I was able to get what I had originally working with the OEM harness and I was happy with that.

Would it be a problem if you just use the new wiring harness that comes with the new console or do you specifically need the harness out of the old console to connect the new console to the truck itself?
The plug side from the dash dictates what harness u keep on the console side. If console plug matches both console plugs, functionality is dictated by features built in to truck at time of build as to what features will / won't work on new console

Did you just plug in the old harness into the center console or did you have to exchange the usb connection of it for the car play to work. I have a newer console with the wireless charging. But I don’t need that. I rather have the phones plugged in.
I just pulled the old wire harness out of the old console and routed it through the new console. Some of the features on the new console dont work but that’s fine by me. I DID have to swap out the USB port on the inside of the console to get Apple CarPlay to work but that took 3 seconds.
@@GearsGadgets thanks! The console I got says 2016 so I think it should have CarPlay already but if not I’ll switch it. What about the lighter in the back of the console? Were you able to reach it with the old harness?

So I’ve been really wanting to do this because my 2016 Silverado has the same shaking problem. It drives me crazy. But I have the WT with the 4wd shifter in the floor. Do you think there would be room for me to diy a hole in the drivers side big enough to go around the shifter?
That is an interesting question. I am SURE you could modify it but I am not sure how much work would go into cutting plastics and fitting it. Might be a LOT of work. Sorry to hear you have the same shaking problem. It SUCKS!!
I can tell you for certain that you should never keep heavy/solid items in the cab, my cousin was killed by a receiver hitch that was stored under a seat when the truck he was riding in lost control due to trailer sway. These things do happen, there us no reason to keep towing equipment in the cab.

I dont see why not.
where did you buy the little tray that sets into the console ...... to cover up the space below ...?
I got it off eBay here: www.ebay.com/itm/2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-GMC-Sierra-Crew-cab-Center-Console-organizer-Pocket-Lid/282930772803?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
It SUCKS!!
My 2016 never shook and neither does my 2018 that's weird
I can tell you for certain that you should never keep heavy/solid items in the cab, my cousin was killed by a receiver hitch that was stored under a seat when the truck he was riding in lost control due to trailer sway. These things do happen, there us no reason to keep towing equipment in the cab.
Very sorry to hear that. I have always been super careful about what I store in my truck for that reason.
