Just a small addition to my comment sorry for misspelling your name previously Karl And great job to Eammon at 68 years old to bring the compass for his friend that's out of this world devotion.
That felt a bit easier than last time Karl, I think because we didn't do the side mountain and monkey cave first, and we had more rests on the way up (although I did have a little nap at the top haha). It's wonderful up there but we really should have got Bob the Bulgarian to tap dance for us!
Happy belated 60th birthday Karl! Good for you man, most 60 year olds here are resigned to supping beer on a concrete maa paa table every night. But your out there climbing mountains, and always with a big smile and a positive mindset 🙂
Superb video and a great send off wiith the compass for Gary Wilson , you couldn't of picked a hotter day , was.the same when we visited about 3 months back , have family just across the road , lovely part of Thailand to celebrate 60 years young , see you for a jar when your next free for a catch up
Happy belated birthday Karl, my wifes farm is only 20 minutes from Khao No, I first went to Khao No in 1993 before it became a tourist spot. Rice farm country. great views, well worth the climb, cheers
Very good video Karl. Excellent way to spend you birthday. Funny thing is that your videos inspired me so I did the Tiger Temple in Krabi on Monday. I loved it, but my hired help didn't. She was fired the next day!
Another great one, Karl. Happy birthday. Sorry, I couldn't make the trip. I can't believe that girl did it with no shoes. I can imagine how hot the steps were.
What a fantastic vid, i thoroughly enjoyed. The views were truly outstanding and the climb must have been very very tiring, i salute you Karl and your buddies. The drone footage was the icing on the cake for me. Well done and what a way to celebrate your birthday.
@@karlsthailand hope the weekend was a success. Watched an old video with my wife last week, she loved what you were doing. Places we should seek out next time we’re back.
Happy birthday Karl , thank you for sharing this amazing video, hard work to get to the top but gee whiz those views were spectacular, really enjoyed this , cheers 🍺
Amazing Karl, never seen the bats before like that leaving the mountain. Many thanks mate. On my list to get there some day. Trust you had a few beers later.
Hi mate that looked tough going and that metal staircase must have been red hot. The drone footage was spectacular and the view was worth the effort in the end . Bet that first beer didn’t touch the sides 555.
You’re right Chris, it didn’t lol. I had one as soon as we got back down and we’re waiting for the bats to emerge. I live Khao No but it does take a bit of effort. Cheers
Wow happy belated birthday fella what an incredible place.......kudos' to the guys who built that stair cases must of took some doing and that final clip of the bat's amazing
great vlog, great view, great group of guys, happy belated birthday, all the best for this coming year and all years that follow wishing you an abundance of happiness and good health always.
Awesome stuff Karl, just back from a couple weeks in Thailand and the humidity was intense so that must have been hard work! Great video as usual and Happy 60th !
Amazing views great vlog the drone footage made it look amazing hope you had a great birthday day I booked the kalae resort in Nakhon sawan looking forward to it what time do you start the climb because would like to see the bats thank you for all your help
It’s a great, adventurous day out Brett. I tend to go up about 2.30-3.00 pm for two reasons; 1. The sun starts to dip over the other side of the mountain then making the journey up a lot cooler and 2. You get down bang on time to see the bats. Look for the statue of the big monkey on the way in, that is the bat viewing point. Have fun
Brilliant, lots in there from Bob making the trip to thailand, the story of the compass, the bats and what state the girls feet must have been in at the bottom. Oh and the drone footage...mint. Another one on my bucket list. Cheers Karl, and shared to my face book.. few cllimbers and fell walkers on there.
Hi Karl, I met you a few days ago when you were doing a video for AJ of Pattaya News. I told you I enjoyed your various treks and you said to stay tuned. Now I see why.
Congratulations Karl! With the anniversary and the climb. I know this is (again) an extremely difficult one. Strange to see these very steep hills rising from an otherwise flat area.
Many thanks! Yes, those mountains really stick out from the surrounding plains, you can even see them from parts of Nakhon Sawan City centre. I drove past them many times without realising that you could go up Khao No.
First and foremost Happy Birthday Carl and as usual your drone footage and video is unparalleled can't wait to get there and Enjoy some of the hikes you have provided. you guys take it easy be careful be safe.
Karl, that was Great!!! It really took some Effort to make the top, but was a beautiful view. Those Bats we're Crazy. No doubt they find plenty to eat at night. I would definitely BUY that barefoot Girl a pitcher of beer and a glass of whiskey! She's Tough.... Take Care and enjoy as many more Birthdays a you want... Jim
I used to do that but figured that these days so long as I have the name in text somewhere on the video it’s as easy for people to just enter the name of the place in Google Maps. Cheers, glad you enjoyed the video
That’s so true Barry, I’ve seen children going up there before and the gap is huge for them. On the other I’m glad glad that there are easily accessible places like this in Thailand to visit. Cheers
I find it best to go up about 3pm because the sun dips to the opposite side of the mountain to the stairs and IMO the stairs are the toughest part. The ladders can get intensely hot but a thin pair of gloves would be enough to make it not an issue. Cheers
Just checked on Google Earth Dave. The summit is 238m asl although it does feel higher and the bottom isn't always exactly sea level so I think my gps was just about right, cheers
1) Please don't kill yourself climbing with one hand because the other is clinging to the camera. 😆 2) I would like to use this comment as my formal request that, if I am alive and healthy enough, you take me on this exact climb in 3 1/2 years, on my 60th birthday. 🙏
i think you should have just went to soi 6 and got a couple of girls to get you sweating ,what about the poor thais that put the ladders there in the first place ,and built the temple ,you wimps 555555

No problem with the spelling. And yes I was quite moved that Eamonn chose it as the place he wanted to honour Gary. Cheers

Cheers. I’m going to watch it right now

Thailand must have some of the best welders in the world….thats a fact!
I expect their services were voluntary in this instance too because it was work for the Temple.
@@karlsthailand you’re probably right…..where else in the world would that happen?, answer, nowhere……wonderful people
My god, we're those ladders built for giants.

Ridiculous gap between the steps/ rungs. They make the Bamboo ladders the same. It's not like Thais have exceptionally long legs.
