Proof positive that no matter how much experience and talent someone has, there is still a need for knocking on doors. The area I'm from in Alabama, the solo gigging market seems to be saturated with the cookie cutter version of wannabe country artists. Don't get me wrong, some are actually pretty good, but much of it lacks depth and originality. Keep on keeping on, bro, and I thought the days of arrogant "lounge singers" went the way of the early 70s!

Hey Jeffery, Great advice my friend, you're not alone in the dry spell land, we're going through that too down here in SW Florida, in part of this crappy economy, but also from this financial desaster that Hurricane Ian left us, the insurance companies have been screwing over the restaurant owners, nice!!! So now quite a few restaurants are reopening under a different name with new owners & some of them don't want music because they don't want to pay into performance royalties, so they now become sports bars, nice. Even though I'm still gigging, I had to slow it down a little due to having AFib, I'm on blood thinners and had to wear a heart monitor for 2 weeks, but today was able to take it off, now I just need to see if I'm all right enough to be taken off of the blood thinners, the joys of getting old, LOL!!! I'm not gonna let that stop me from gigging!!! Thanks for all your Inspiration, you ROCK Brother!!! Keep On Rocking, Rock On & God Bless.

Here’s what you do. Go set up a busking rig right out front of these places that have canceled entertainment. Everyone I know who’s good can busk out on the sidewalk anywhere and make more damn money than a person inside gigging and that’s the truth. They could’ve had you inside, but instead you’re taking money by being great and having people listen to you outside. That’s what I would do just to spite them. And eventually it may come to that for most of us. The thing is people love music, and they want live entertainment, and it doesn’t matter what these idiot, clueless club owners and managers think. Sports and greasy food are not going to keep people satisfied forever. I’m telling you there’s a huge contingent of people who want a quality night out with a great ambience and some entertainment. That will never go out of style.
