This has to be the funniest thing I've seen all year. I almost choked when the recipe asked for decorating with one single piece of gum. I love how the recipe kept asking for more whipped cream. I hope this turns into a series.
I'd love to see Ann do a legit version of the cake, like take all the same (or similar) ingredients but actually make something edible with it

How can you say it is without a cream filling when it gives you the choice of 3 different creams to top the cake with, it may not be a filling but cream is definitely there.
I think it the other two bowls of frosting had been used in the middle and the crumbs had been sprinkled over the top after it was frosted with the plain frosting, there'd have been less left over and it would have held together better. It still needs about twice the cake mix and half the chocolate nibbles, though. *CLUNK!*
Also I like how Dave is trying to convince his son to buy his mother's own books for her for Mother's Day. That was quite a plug.

That gum at the end reminds me of a Christmas cupcake recipe in a magazine I'd seen. It wanted you to use spearmint gum, and the shape sticks into petals for a blue poinsettia. Sure looks cute enough, until someone bites into it.

Based on your comment, I'm wondering what you think of Marlin's mollusk/sea cucumber joke from Finding Nemo.
I laughed so much I cried. Its like one of my fave "jokes" which is "Why did the plane crash?" "Because the pilot was made of cheese". Like it makes no sense and people always look at you so weird when you tell it which makes me laugh at least. Magic of the joke is that its not until you tell it that it really becomes funny. Hearing it its just kinda stupid nonsense.
I laughed so hard at both AI jokes. I was thinking that AI tells jokes like a 3-year old, and since I laugh at my niece and nephews’ jokes, I also laughed at AI’s jokes.

AI sort of has a tendency to do that. Text generation models generally have a limited to nonexistent sense of nuance, context, or truth; instead trying to replicate what a human would be likely to write next. People usually like to write and talk about novel or significant things, and so when describing other cultures, it's not uncommon for people to fixate on what's different, or odd, or shocking, cool, etc.; especially on a surface level. Over time, the details about these differences slowly get exaggerated and warped, as people misremember elements, or insert elements to try to make their descriptions more interesting. This is how stereotypes form.
Since text gen AI is trained off of human generated text, it's subject to a selection bias caused by what people think is relevant enough to actually write down. Also, since stereotypes paint large swaths of people with the same brush, stereotypical elements occur in description of people, cultures, etc. over and over again without much variation, which to an AI means that stereotyping is a more of a typical human way of describing something than actually accurate descriptions. So not only can text gen AI create it's own stereotypes, it has a tendency to repeat existing stereotypes. And unlike a human, it has absolutely no way of checking if what it's writing is true, probable, or even makes sense at all.
To be honest, that's what I think when I hear "Dave Reardon"
or pulling out a really big knife...

This is hilarious, and I loved the AI's jokes at the end. The one about the cake going to the bar struck me as rather profound though. This cake is just trying to go to a bar and hang out, live its life, but everywhere it goes people assume there must be a celebration, and it's causing the cake to feel depressed, possibly because it feels like its always letting people down when it's not actually there for an event.

You don’t see a lot of cake recipes with a “packet of cake mix” as a primary ingredient. For my money, I’d be skipping the whole “box cake” palaver and going straight for one of those supermarket mud cakes, instead 😂

There's actually some potential in this recipe if it were to be made into a "brownie" of sorts. Or if the ratios were adjusted. It'd need some work and fine tuning but you could make a sort of thin "Brownie Crisp" It's something I do from time to time. They are the best part of a brownie to some people. It's half brownie half cookie. Hard to explain but they get a really nice chocolatey snap to them when you bite them. Similar to the edge piece of a brownie, except it's all the crunch part.

Honestly, its a genuinely funny joke, ngl.
Just a heads up, careful with the toothpick test when you have melted chocolate in your cake (or brownies in my case lol). I checked my brownies and it came out “goopy” so I kept baking it and did it again and STILL goopy but I could tell the edges were really cooked. Turns out, it was the melted chocolate that I was poking, it wasn’t raw batter lol.

I just realized that the AI telling the joke is confirmation of Veggietales' prediction of randomly generated humor.
I love when AI is introduced to a specification issue that it usually bungles horridly. GPT-3 is the best for those issues, too. I'm still amazed it could make a semi-believable recipe.
Watching Ann stir the Chopper Oreo's, Oreo Wafers, and After Dinner Mints out of sheer confusion was my personal highlight.
This reminds me of when I was in elementary school and we did a lesson on direction following and my teacher had us write instructions on how to make a PB & J and she wouldn't do something unless you said it. So if you said "Take the peanut butter and put it on the bread" without saying to take either out of their packaging, she would just set the jar of peanut butter on the loaf of bread. Pretty hilarious!
We did a lesson in direction following when I was in elementary school too. It appeared to be a three page quiz, but the instructions said to read all the questions before answering any of them. The final question said to write your name at the top of the quiz and to hand it in unanswered. Luckily my sister had the same teacher the year before, so I had already learned this lesson through her.
@@AnotherWittyUsername. we did something akin to that, our teacher gave us a sheet of paper with instructions, most of the class folowed them step by step. I read until the end and the final Instructon said "Ignore the other 19 instructions just write your name on top of the Paper" result our class had a good laugh in the end

No, it's actually saying that you are to cut all the slices then put them back on the cake stand. Which is worse, because not even the individual slice stays together.
I think you're supposed to stick the cake together using the gum
I picture it as saying to stick two slices of cake together with chewed gum. That way your piece of cake could be double the size, but you would still be able to say "But I only had one slice!"

I think the AI combined chocolate mints and using frosting to get cake layers to stick together, and eventually it got sticky + mint + food = gum.

i would have used the oreo frosting to glue the middle bits but thats about it as far as fixing goes. and put the oreo crumbs on top witht he single stick of gum
