- wild camping in a pain Forest in Inverness Scotland using my oex lynx ll lightweight backpacking tent and full oex equipment.
This night was a tent camping overnighter in heavy rainfall and the heavy rain did not stop all night,

Yes it’s a long way but it’s always worth it and look at the views, I went up to Glencoe for a mountain camp on Buachaille Etive Mor in august just for one night 250 each way and it was my best camp ever.
You could live in Scotland for a long time and never get fed up of it.

Just ran across your video and it is wonderful. Can't do much of this here in Louisanna. Live near swamps and bayous. Alligators are everywhere and many people have gotten eaten or injured by them. Their food supply is dwindling and they are seeking out more prey. Great video.

Glad you enjoyed the rain. Fires in woods up here generally not a good idea or encouraged. Just hope you knew to dig out any hot spots. A fire pit near by was found still smouldering months later as the peat had caught fire and spread underground. A big job to extinguish. Hope you left no trace and took everything including your wet wipes out with you! Please promote no trace camping.

Dan, if you eat chillies, it's the seeds where most of the heat is, discard the seeds if you want them cooler and green are cooler than red.

Awesome video. I love that grand old queen 👑 of a tree 🌲 outside your tent ⛺️. Here in East Coast Canada, we call them Heritage trees. As you look over the landscape, you can see these monarchs of the forest 🌳 standing head and shoulders above the second and third growth stands. Hi Wendie. Matt & I took Dan to that spot. It’s more accessible than you think.
There is a wheelchair accessible little spot in myical woods but some horrible teens found out about it and they've trashed it with rubbish and starting fires, 😑 I've alway had a passion for wild camping and nature I've tried to make a few videos on my channel but they aren't that great I will try to do a winter day camp soon when the weather breaks I've got all the stoves and tents nearly all of inspired by Dan and his reviews 😀

Nice one. I recently cycled Lands End to John o Groats and wild camped the Scottish leg. Absolutely stunning part of the world you’re in there and you are right the camera doesn’t do it any justice. I have photos but the memories are etched in my memory. Looking forward to getting back up there again. Great stuff 🏕👍

Glad u enjoyed ur trip. Scotland is a big wee country and plenty more to see. It takes me 3 to 4 hours to get to your campsite. Look @ the Scottish Borders if u want somewhere nearer the landscape is still stunning.

Another good video Dan. Have you thought about always taking a Tarp or Poncho with you, especially when adverse weather is forecast? As you know they are such a versatile piece of kit. It would definitely stopped you getting your inner tent wet in this instance. Then you could of repositioned it and used it as your camp admin area or communal area or just to get the fire going etc. If necessary, reposition it over the tent when you are breaking camp. Stay safe mate and keep the videos coming.

Hi Dan , This is the part of the British Isles that taught me to always have a Tarp or a put up in One Tent , when camping !🙂
A lightweight tarp, small packed size shove it up first then you can put the tent up dry
you did well for time then dan cus i was working in ayrshire and it was exactly 300 miles from my house (nottingham) to the bone yard and it was a 5 hour drive.trip up there was a tad boring cus its all motorway but once you get up near gretna green or carlisle and the road turns into the M74...oh my days its a different world mate.mountains and countryside is awesome :-)

Where u using the oex traverse mat on its own and sleeping bag on top? If so, was it enough? Temperature?

Enjoy your videos but I have an observation. For me you dilute the true spirit of ‘wild camping’ for the viewer because you have travelled with others who are all also camping and filming close by. I think it’s more compelling viewing when you watch someone who is camping truly alone in a isolated location experiencing the natural fears , dangers and stresses associated with camping.

I did tell ye to take a tarp, then you can put above the tents and use as an administrator area for the camp, we always do that for BBQ's in the rain in Scotland too lol

Just a tip EWM......spray your steak with oil and season with a decent salt and pepper on one side before cooking.....you will notice a big difference....loving you vids man....Thank You!

Scotland is a wonderful place, I was lucky and only had one wet night when I toured the country. Nowadays (pre covid) I head about 10 hrs south for a adventure and drive to the south of France. The weather is a bit better. 😁 JB.
