    That ratio of 1hr of filming to 1min of finished clip is what I typically end up with when editing.
    Your outdoor shots on this one are pretty spectacular though - well worth it!

    Thanks!! Really great video: treat for me as I cannot yet afford them. It should be on Soar webpage. Questions - How waterproof is weather jacket? If you ran in rain, how long before you completely wet? Does machine-wash regularly ruin their durability? Quinn wore a hat, do you use that when it rains too? The pocket of wind jacket seemed not functional. Your comment on gilet for travel was terrific! Does your usage of jackets depend on specific temps? The most interesting Soar review video. Thanks much!!

      Hello Rajkumar. The waterproof jacket is pretty waterproof. The main thing is that it is breathable, so it lets the sweat out. When I run in full waterproof jackets I come back soaked in my own sweat. I would wear it running for an hour in light rain without worry. I have been trying to make a video about waterproofing for some time, but might need to hurry it up! I think Tim Soar recommends washing every three runs or so. I think he is right but I typically wash it after every run, old habits etc. I always wear a cap or beanie. In the summer the cap for shade and in the winter when it is dark to cut glare in my eyes from streetlights. If it is really cold I use a beanie, and I have been known to wear both...if someone makes a beanie cap, I will get it...or I might make my own...I always pick the jackets depending on the temperature and likelihood or rain...with the duration of the run factored in. It's frosty but dry today and expected to be windy, so I will run in the Windbreaker 2.0 this evening...

    Another great funny thorough review!! Getting better all the time!! Keep them coming…soar are redic I know for pricing..but is quality stuff..I have the elite shorts and two pairs of sandals he run tights..jackets look interesting tho..but ooh and get price!! I have the on running gilet and all weather jacket..again not cheap but man are they good!! had them for a few years now..still going strong…when it’s time to change it could be a hard decision between the soar and on running..still not managed to convince my wife about the satisfy running shorts..I’m trying to tell her I can’t suffer any more chafing! 😉 on running have a short race pair so that’s in the mix too..price wise they are more acceptable! 😄

      Cheers Raymond! I think next week won't be as much fun...Running with an injury! But hoping to have some fun making it...then with a bit of luck I will finally get the video made about Waterproof Jackets...I spent so much time overthinking it that I never got around to it...I have the On Running Gilet which is the most magical piece of running kit I own...and I can't quite decide why. I also have the OnRunning Waterproof Anorak which I rarely, if ever wear...and some other stuff including the Soar All Weather Jacket 3.0 , Some Soar Ultra Jackets and one by CIM Alp...Then I might make another shorts video. I have stayed away from the Soar shorts as I don't think they will take the silly sized phone...same with the On shorts...

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bilaltahir9978 I love them both but use them differently. I run in the On Running Gilet on a mild day like today, c.10C/50F where I think it might rain. If I am sure it will rain then I run in the Soar Ultra Gilet 2.0 which can take more rain. When the weather gets colder, which it will soon, I start wearing the Soar Jackets of different types and start adding the running trousers or tights...

    Great review. Good to see somebody on this side of the water doing reviews on running gear.
    Looking into goar gear and a running jacket at the minute. Regarding the 3.0 jacket just wondering warm is it...I'm in the west with alot of rain compared to dublin 😎. I usually like to layer up in winter...I'm not one that would run in two t shirts In winter like some.... can u get a few months wear out of it or would it be too warm come march spring time.....like yourself dont like the waterproof jacket where u sweat buckets regardless. I run 5,/6 days and marathon training ....looking forward to other reviews

      @OldManRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gerry. Hello from Arizona...here to try and run the Buckeye Marathon in the morning...I get a lot of wear out of the 3.0 jacket...most of my runs in it are when it is not raining. I never wear anything under it, mainly because I like the feel of it on my skin and don't need the additional layer...I wear it most between October to April without any bother...I have the previous version which I also wear...once it is too cold for a T-shirt or T-shirt + sleeves, I pop it on. Soar Running design for narrow people...so if you are planning on layering and in any doubt go up on the size...the customer service is really helpful so if in doubt check your measurements with them or size up...

    How waterproof is the all weather jacket 3.0 and how is it holding up after a year? Is it just a winter jacket or can it also be worn in autumn and spring?

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Bilal. I have the 2.0 and the 3.0. Both can be worn in autumn and spring in Ireland where the weather is fairly mild but can be wet. Both of the jackets wear well and I often wear them when it is cold and dry. I don’t wear anything under them. I bought the Grainger DWR wash but rarely use it, mainly through forgetfulness and inertia. In any event the jackets are not fully waterproof. They breathe a little which I like as it lets sweat vapour out… but the flip side is it allows some moisture in. For me it’s perfect unless it’s chucking it down and on those occasions I use the Soar Ultra Running Jacket 3.0… and if it’s really chucking it down I wear the On-Running Rain Jacket.

      @@OldManRunner Many thanks. That's very helpful. Is the jacket durable enough to wear a running backpack over it as I plan to use for run commuting to work?

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bilaltahir9978 I have used it commuting. But not much. I think you would get moderate wear and tear out of it. It is not heavy duty by any means. The jackets are expensive and there is little difference between the 2.0 and 3.0. So if you can find a 2.0 on sale it might be a better bet…

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Winter Gilet 2.0 and the All Weather Jacket 3.0 fit the same on me. The back panel on the Winetr Gilet is more stretchy. And of course it does not have the arms, which fit snugly. I wore the Gilet to work several times this week...I really enjoy it and the grey colour takes abuse...

    Hi, where is Soar gear manufactured, did they give you any of those details (I have looked on the site and on the web and I can't find the answer. Rockay which I believe is Danish and makes great quality gear (though known for socks) manufactures their stuff in Lithuania. Whereas the On-running clothing I have bought (again great quality) is produced by our cousins over in mainland China. I like to know where something is manufactured made and I get put off (paying premium prices) if it feels like the marketing is withholding that information (regardless of how good the stuff is). Don't get me wrong my next car could very well be a Model Y, and it might very well be made in the Giga factory in Shanghai, but it does not have 'brought to you by the design studios in CA.' infused in the marketing.

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John. The Windbreaker 2.0 is made in Portugal, the All Weather Jacket 3.O and Winter Gilet are made in China. The Dual Fabric Tights 2.0 are made in Portugal...hard to read the label as I am wearing them as I type! Tim Soar often talks in the videos he makes about the origin of the fabric, but I agree it would be great to know where the items are made in advance. I have lots of Rockay socks, love them, not so keen on their other stuff. On Running give great information on the factories where their shoes are made, many in Vietnam from memory. Would love to visit and make a video, but that might be a bit away...As someone who designs stuff, I really like to know where things are designed. My Drop Scale has Designed in Ireland, Assembled in China on the back. Super little device...Prior to the pandemic I travelled regularly to China to teach design. I have no idea when I might get back, if ever, but I also like to see Designed in China on stuff...and a Model Y would be nice!

      Joutarou. I think the difference is that I got my prices in the Global Store, which I select when logging on, presumably because I am outside the UK which my browser detects. There you can see prices in various currencies. I think the prices there are shown without taxes you and then they add taxes at checkout depending on where you live in the World. In the UK I think you just go straight to the UK store and taxes are included in the listed prices, but I may be wrong in my assumption! Either way I am looking forward to running in one of the jackets later depending on the temperature today.
