I have that GiantMouse Nazca, bought it from you guys back in October, so pretty sure you showed it before or I probably wouldn't have known about it, but I could be wrong. It's an impressive knife and I love it. It has a very solid feel and heft to it (that some might not appreciate) but even if it's maybe two ounces heavier than my other EDCs, it's not like I notice it at all. Also, I like the wire clip, I wish more designers would do that.

I've always disliked the balance of Cpm-D2, Cpm154, zdp-189, and really any other pm steel that primarily relies on CrC for its edge retention. Chromium carbides proved less edge retention to begin with compared with Vanadium, niobium, or tungesten carbides. This means you need more overall carbide for a given level of edge retention. Combine that with the fact that the other major carbide formers make much smaller carbides in pm steels, and it almost seems like a waste to even produce something like cpm-d2 over steels better at the task.

The way you talk about 3v, people would think it rusts with the slightest hint of moisture, I have yet to notice any rust on my many 3v knives. In fact it’s better than some true stainless knives with more chromium in the mix. I’ve actually had some Magnacut patina where 3v hasn’t. Give 3v a break it’s at least semi stainless, even if it’s a little lower in chromium.

I bought the Ka-bar EK folder. For the price point, the knife is not worth the money. Blade wasn't centered. The HRC is on the super low side for S35vn. Plastic handle. No jimping on the blade. Uneven edge grind.
Stick with the fixed blade EK series.

Wtf are they thinking with that Redoubt?! $180 for injection molded handles and CPM D2?! 🤔🙄

They should have made that Redoubt in Magnacut. They'd sell a million. In D2? Don't care.

Benchmade is very arrogant to want 180.00 for an injection molded knife! If they want to compete with the Chinese they have to improve their materials.

Gary Ek has been consistently bitter about ka-bar making knives outside of his dad's specs, and I'm gonna make a wild guess he's gonna resent them using their name on something so comparatively dainty.

@@Naptosis Are you talking about Cutco's Ka-bar's Mark 2's? If so I'm no fan boy but I own one of theirs and an antique Camillus in my reference collection, and I would suggest that Cutco's are of fine quality relative to the design intentions of killing and light to medium chores which don't include bushcraft.
The Ek's were such a cool response to the likes of the F/S and Mark 1 and 2 and so many elaborate customs. Next to no chore utility, so easy to make John hired disabled people, light enough with a 1/8" thick machete ground blade, and good luck trying to break it.
That folder looks nice but a bit like a minivan being called a semi truck.
