  • Boris Johnson has announced his resignation as leader of the Conservative Party, but says he will continue to serve until the party chooses his successor. During a statement in front of Downing Street, Boris Johnson said he was "immensely proud of the achievements of this Government" - but conceded that it is "clearly the will of the parliamentary Conservative Party that there should be a new leader."
So who will replace him - and what will happen to the country while we wait?

Here’s what happens next: we get another PM, same BS different haircut. We have a general election and 2/3 of the country exercise their democratic right to choose between the red ties and the blue ties, then all act surprised when they turn out to be just as bad as the last lot regardless of which team they’re on.

A new political party needs to form, me and millions of others across the country feel not represented by ANY of major parties. All of them are so London centric they’re disconnected from the rest of the country. As someone from Northern Ireland it wouldn’t surprise me if we rejoin the Republic and Scotland secedes, then Brexiteers can cheers that in their patriotic stupidity they caused the break up the nation they so wished to be patriotic to. It’s a joke, you go to London and all you see everywhere is Skyscrapers and Range Rovers and people literally drowning in money, meanwhile in Wales or Northern Ireland people are choosing between eating well or heating their homes. It’s honestly disgusting and makes me so resentful to be ruled from that oppressive, egotistical and greedy group in London who have absolutely nothing in common with me and are detached from the reality of what it’s like in the rest of the country. The only time they leave London is to go to their country holiday homes in Devon!

That isn't how parliamentary democracies work. It's Conservative Party that had the 80 seat majority. Why is delivering Brexit seen as something positive accomplishment by this prime minister? the Brexit deal negotiated by this Government was the worst possible deal for the UK.
Why does the UK have highest inflation rate in Europe when we have our own currency and thus we can set our own monetary policy, contrast that with European countries with the Euro who CAN'T set national monetary policies yet have lower inflation than us.
This Government has played large part in ruining the economy and is now trying come up with policies to help with the rising cost of living which they had big hand in creating. I understand there are other factors such rising cost of energy due to the the war in Ukraine, but that affects all European countries, not just the UK.

Despite him having all the information at his fingertips and did not falter, the USA would not yield whatsoever. We only finished paying for WW2 to the USA in 2006!
