  • Boris Johnson says he won't be giving his support to any of the 11 candidates in the race to replace him as Tory leader, because he doesn't want to damage anyone's chances.
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
But one of the contenders, former Health Secretary Sajid Javid, has already described the contest itself as damaging. He warned "this isn't House of Cards".

Anyone saying we should reduce taxes doesn't understand demographics. The population of the Boomer has come and is now aged with many requiring care. The Boomer generation was a particularly large cohort and the burden for their social care will be on the smaller young generation. In addition to this, the Boomer generation took more money than they produced per individual which puts a further strain. This means the income for the government will have to increase so it's no longer if we should raise or lower taxes but rather how slowly or quickly we should raise them. The candidates that suggest such tax cuts are a symbol of the Tory party turning more and more right-wing.

How many kids for example were born abroad because their parents were stationed overseas with the armed forces? They are still British kids.
