It's an amazing cinematic, the voice acting is absolutely sublime and playing this through as an Alliance main inspired me to keep playing for the Horde... But I still find it kind of difficult to believe that Alleria, a general with thousands of years of experience, and Genn, who trusts Sylvanas as far as he can throw Jaina's ship, fall into this trap... Anduin is inexperienced and Jaina, maybe Jaina's behaviour was an attempt at brokering some sort of peace, but it does just kind of feel like the writers had 'Sylvanas sits on Terenas's throne and Anduin behaves like Arthas' and went with that.

I've always been a fan of Sylvanas, but in July I changed my faction to a new Draenei, because I thought that Alliance locations looked pretty nice. But then I watched this video... Sylvanas is my queen, my warchief, and my heart is for the Horde. And I cannot change that.

In Addition to not everyone being able to play yet, it really is a different thing if random youtubers upload these cutscenes or if the Official World of Warcraft Channel Does it. They are known to release cinematics etc that are not from the game, so if they dont mark an actual video from the expansion as a spoiler that would really upset a few people who just wanted to check out that "new offical WoW clip"
But which part of this would be considered a spoiler? That nobody died in this particular encounter? Knowing that playing through the Siege of Lordaeron scenario that your awesome experience won't be the thing ending the expansion before it has begun?
This in the outcome of the Battle for Lordaeron. Knowning what happened in the end is obviously a spoiler. Sylvanas could have killed someone else, she could have gone to prison, etc. It affects some people because they like to hype themselves up and play through things. People have different sensibilities. Most of all, if something like this is pulled OUT of the game, it's a spoiler. Anything that tells you the story before the person reads, watches or plays it, is a spoiler. You may not think it would affect things much, I personally don't care much about it, but it needs to be respected and makes complete sense. Knowing only just a few things ahead can emotionally ruin the whole build up to that moment.
Many have called both her gassing her own people (and yes, Blighting all of Lordaeron) a totally F***ed up thing to do, and it was - It's also why she's going to win; Garrosh would have done this merely out of spite - she did so, as both a tactical retreat, a denial of ANYTHING vital being used or left behind in Lordaeron, AND as a trap - Had Jaina not been there, She'd have utterly broken the back of the Alliance, right there & then! A dirty rotten trick..? yes - but then there ARE no saints on a battle field... All hail the Banshee Queen.
Justifying it..? No. Not at all. As stated, it was a totally F***ed up move - but it was also her only one. (what's more..? it worked. So, yes - NOTHING like Garrosh.) From a tactical stand point..? (and that's really the only one, as there are no other reasons for said play) it was smart. Cold, cruel, logical and it pretty much worked. But still, as stated - Totally F***ed up.I quite agree that they've thrashed her character at best (if not out & out marginalized her) for this story - I can only hope they correct it, in time for the next patch - or if nothing else, EXPLAIN why she's suddenly such a cardboard cut-out bad guy.
I think sylvannas is worse than garrosh is, several times he forbid her from using the plague cause its such a horrible weapon. now that shes in charge she just uses it whenever
Garrosh never would have done something like this. He told Sylvanas and her forsaken several times to NOT use the blight. Even as someone who hates Garrosh. He wouldn't have something like this. Sylvanas is far worse than him
Genn is hands down 1 of the most hot-headed and hot-tempered of the alliance leaders, he's like the alliance version Garrosh in relation to those aspects.
Isn't the Warchief meant to unite the Horde, not divide into two? I get the impression that the Horde is fighting more amongst itself than it's fighting against the Alliance. I don't like that. I'm all "Lok'tar Ogar, for the Horde!", but I feel that Sylvanas hasn't stayed true to traditional Horde values, values which the Horde was built on and for which I faught originally.
Traditional Horde values is basically what she did! Play the original games! One & Two! The Horde broke the Azeroth army, sacked Stormwind and KILLED EVERYONE in it! Lothar lead the survivors across the sea to the High Elve's, (who the alliance betrayed) and Dwarves and the Lordaeron Kingdom to unite them into THE Alliance. Traditional Horde is Kill the enemy. The Horde changed under Thrall. Sylvanas took the Horde back to a more...traditional Horde. A true successor to Blackrock.

Other than the line about Teldrassil I like how Jaina just kinda stands there like she's not paying attention. Does she have something better to do? I feel like she's been really disconnected from the plot for awhile. Even the whole returning home to get the fleet plot felt phoned in. Come on Blizz. You set her up to be the most powerful mage on Azeroth made her go crazy and then just said "lol nope actually she's willing to be reasonable". Come on guys. Let her have a little bit of genocide as a treat.
Genn is blinded by hatred and acts pretty dumb. The whole alliance lead falls right into Sylvanas' trap. .... and without Jaina, this would have been the end of the war, with Sylvanas win.
To be honest in Warcraft there is no one else who pissed Arthas more than Sylvanas did :D And about her contribution to war effort... Go play Warcraft 3 with Frozen Throne, you'll understand. She kicked Scourge out of Lordaeron, almost killed Arthas and destroyed his bases in Eastern Kingdoms. After that only parts of Plaguelands was in hands of Scourge. So she did virtually everything (combined with some alli forces and BElf forces) in pre-WOTLK.

People keep talking about honor. But in war of one side in war has honor, they handicap themselves vs the side that doesnt use honor to win. See ancient Romans vs ancient Germans.
One may think ethics is a handicap, but the prize is that people will live in peace if you win, whereas if people with no ethics win, people will live in suffering.
Das Boot When all your people don't care for honor yeah but here more than half of your faction care about it . Tactically speaking not caring about honor was great but this undermine her authority over half of her people and expose her to a risk of revolt .
This may sound crazy, but I feel Sylvanas knows Anduin has the potential to defeat the jailer so she is testing him. That is why she smiles, she knows he is powerful he just doesn't know it yet.

it looks like the old god is actually manuplating the events while sylvanas is actually is influencing the horde and the alliance to stay strong for furthur invasion as you see both horde and alliance went against ashara and then you see the old god already say " The Queen treatens the king " which may refer to sylvanas mostly and when alleria visited sylvanas in the comic the void told the same thing she is a treat to the void kill her now so is she playing a anti-Hero but in a Chaotic way but actually she is not a villain ?
I don't get all the Sylvanas hate. She's cool and despite being coldhearted and manipulative she does it to win the war and protect the Horde. It's natural that she won't like the Alliance, she's on the other side of the war and her own friends abandoned her and thought of her as an abomination simply because she was turned forsaken in their light obsessed eyes. Anyone in her situation would be bitter. It's clear that she cares enough about the Horde or else she wouldn't be going this far to win. Some people say that she's evil because of Teldrassil and others think that she's dishonourable but to talk about that first accusation. After years of the Alliance attacking her people and land and trying to wipe out the Blood Elves and Forsaken who is actually surprised that years of attacking results in a retaliation? That second claim can be refuted with a line of dialogue that happens directly before this cinematic "Honour means nothing to a corpse, Saurfang. Maybe you don't care if your people die so long as it's honourable but to me, this Horde is worth saving." She doesn't care about honour because it doesn't matter in the long run, if you still die you'd want to die having gotten your job done instead of dying pure but having let the world burn around you to keep yourself from losing the precious honour so many people love.

Not everyone has the chance to play in the first few days of the release.
In Addition to not everyone being able to play yet, it really is a different thing if random youtubers upload these cutscenes or if the Official World of Warcraft Channel Does it.
They are known to release cinematics etc that are not from the game, so if they dont mark an actual video from the expansion as a spoiler that would really upset a few people who just wanted to check out that "new offical WoW clip"

But which part of this would be considered a spoiler? That nobody died in this particular encounter? Knowing that playing through the Siege of Lordaeron scenario that your awesome experience won't be the thing ending the expansion before it has begun?
This in the outcome of the Battle for Lordaeron. Knowning what happened in the end is obviously a spoiler. Sylvanas could have killed someone else, she could have gone to prison, etc. It affects some people because they like to hype themselves up and play through things. People have different sensibilities. Most of all, if something like this is pulled OUT of the game, it's a spoiler. Anything that tells you the story before the person reads, watches or plays it, is a spoiler. You may not think it would affect things much, I personally don't care much about it, but it needs to be respected and makes complete sense. Knowing only just a few things ahead can emotionally ruin the whole build up to that moment.

Many have called both her gassing her own people (and yes, Blighting all of Lordaeron) a totally F***ed up thing to do, and it was - It's also why she's going to win; Garrosh would have done this merely out of spite - she did so, as both a tactical retreat, a denial of ANYTHING vital being used or left behind in Lordaeron, AND as a trap - Had Jaina not been there, She'd have utterly broken the back of the Alliance, right there & then! A dirty rotten trick..? yes - but then there ARE no saints on a battle field... All hail the Banshee Queen.

Justifying it..? No. Not at all. As stated, it was a totally F***ed up move - but it was also her only one. (what's more..? it worked. So, yes - NOTHING like Garrosh.) From a tactical stand point..? (and that's really the only one, as there are no other reasons for said play) it was smart. Cold, cruel, logical and it pretty much worked. But still, as stated - Totally F***ed up.I quite agree that they've thrashed her character at best (if not out & out marginalized her) for this story - I can only hope they correct it, in time for the next patch - or if nothing else, EXPLAIN why she's suddenly such a cardboard cut-out bad guy.

Traditional Horde values is basically what she did! Play the original games! One & Two! The Horde broke the Azeroth army, sacked Stormwind and KILLED EVERYONE in it! Lothar lead the survivors across the sea to the High Elve's, (who the alliance betrayed) and Dwarves and the Lordaeron Kingdom to unite them into THE Alliance.
Traditional Horde is Kill the enemy.
The Horde changed under Thrall.
Sylvanas took the Horde back to a more...traditional Horde. A true successor to Blackrock.

I've been horde the whole time I've played this game, and I can say, I definitely do NOT stan Sylvanas. Genocide? No. The elves didn't deserve that.

Other than the line about Teldrassil I like how Jaina just kinda stands there like she's not paying attention. Does she have something better to do? I feel like she's been really disconnected from the plot for awhile. Even the whole returning home to get the fleet plot felt phoned in. Come on Blizz. You set her up to be the most powerful mage on Azeroth made her go crazy and then just said "lol nope actually she's willing to be reasonable". Come on guys. And about her contribution to war effort... Go play Warcraft 3 with Frozen Throne, you'll understand. She kicked Scourge out of Lordaeron, almost killed Arthas and destroyed his bases in Eastern Kingdoms. After that only parts of Plaguelands was in hands of Scourge. So she did virtually everything (combined with some alli forces and BElf forces) in pre-WOTLK.

eeeehhhhh, less doing nothing and more not knowing what was happening. After all, Gilneas was walled off from the rest of the world throughout the 3rd war. Only reason they got back into the world was due to Garrosh wanting Gilneas as it served as the perfect port city which was near lorderon at the time and Deathwings advance which ruptured the wall and caused the first gate to fall.

One may think ethics is a handicap, but the prize is that people will live in peace if you win, whereas if people with no ethics win, people will live in suffering.

When all your people don't care for honor yeah but here more than half of your faction care about it . Tactically speaking not caring about honor was great but this undermine her authority over half of her people and expose her to a risk of revolt .
After all these years they STILL haven't cleaned that blood stain made by King Terenes' crown.

This may sound crazy, but I feel Sylvanas knows Anduin has the potential to defeat the jailer so she is testing him. That is why she smiles, she knows he is powerful he just doesn't know it yet.
I think Sylvanas knows the sword is powerful and that was why she smiles. Its an ever present reminder of what happened to her.

Next patch Saurfang is going to directly resist arrest and kill a dark ranger, the players seem to help him a bit with that. Looks like Garrosh 2.0 to me.
it looks like the old god is actually manuplating the events while sylvanas is actually is influencing the horde and the alliance to stay strong for furthur invasion as you see both horde and alliance went against ashara and then you see the old god already say " The Queen treatens the king " which may refer to sylvanas mostly and when alleria visited sylvanas in the comic the void told the same thing she is a treat to the void kill her now so is she playing a anti-Hero but in a Chaotic way but actually she is not a villain ?

I don't get all the Sylvanas hate. She's cool and despite being coldhearted and manipulative she does it to win the war and protect the Horde. It's natural that she won't like the Alliance, she's on the other side of the war and her own friends abandoned her and thought of her as an abomination simply because she was turned forsaken in their light obsessed eyes. Anyone in her situation would be bitter. It's clear that she cares enough about the Horde or else she wouldn't be going this far to win. Some people say that she's evil because of Teldrassil and others think that she's dishonourable but to talk about that first accusation. After years of the Alliance attacking her people and land and trying to wipe out the Blood Elves and Forsaken who is actually surprised that years of attacking results in a retaliation? That second claim can be refuted with a line of dialogue that happens directly before this cinematic "Honour means nothing to a corpse, Saurfang. Maybe you don't care if your people die so long as it's honourable but to me, this Horde is worth saving." She doesn't care about honour because it doesn't matter in the long run, if you still die you'd want to die having gotten your job done instead of dying pure but having let the world burn around you to keep yourself from losing the precious honour so many people love.
Go play WOW3 and you will see why.
