Simply perfection, part of me is sad that Brian and The Gaslight Anthem are not bigger than they are but its because of this that the real fans can see them every time they tour. In my view they are some of the very best songwriters and performed some of the best heart warming songs ever performed.
Just in case anyone else needs to suffer, I found out today (in 2019) that this song is about Brian's grandmother who had Alzheimer's disease. "I love you more than the stars in the sky, but your name just escapes me tonight"
Yeah I have heard that, but I don't get at the end where he says "before we broke up, before he took you from me". "He" could be God, but the breakup line is weird.
I lost it this morning and cried my eyes out this morning when I read this. I have a grandma that is slowly going, and I needed this, even as hard as it was. I'll probably cry everything I hear this now, but I'm still gonna learn it. I needed a new song to learn so... thanks.
To the first person who this...I don't have a lot of money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you......
One of the best songs of any time.
Oh my sweet, sweet love, Brian. Thank you for existing.
THE BEST RAW TALENT IN THE LAST TWENTY YEARS. SONGS WRITTEN AND DELIVERED WITH HEART
"Said you'd never be my pain" - 7 years after his death...he's still my pain. 💔 "& I'm doing the best I can, cuz that's what you wanted."

@@goldenageenthusiast It's actually "Before IT broke up, before IT took you from me"

Lyrically Amazing and such sentiment behind the song. A man with a final message to a lost relative. Such an underrated song it's painful
This heart keeps pouring it out
Mr Fallon, you are on par with the greats. You bring me from the depths so often. I'll always be in your debt for that. Never change
Getting there every year, hope it goes easy
Tnx Brian.
