    The short cable on the new one is, because the newer dell monitors have an USB hub, where you can get the power for the speakers. No need for long cords then.

      To be honest all the new ones have a usb hub so your argument makes no sense.

      Hi do i get the sound from the speaker bar by plugging it in the usb port on the monitor? My hp e271i monitor has no audio plug

      yes remember to plug the b usb cable from the hub(back of monitor) to your pc or mac.

      @@Technologyadvisor1 That actually means that long cable makes no sense if bar is attached to dell monitor ;)

    Some years back, I purchased a Dell AY511 soundbar to use with a Dell 30" monitor, ( sorry, but I don't have the model number handy ). I rarely used the soundbar because I have desktop stereo speakers.
    The 30" monitor stopped working after about 4 to 6 years recently, and I had the soundbar that wouldn't mount to anything else I had. Fortunately. because the soundbar has both a stereo line out cable and a separate power adapter. I found that I can use the soundbar as a handy little portable sound system. I can plug it into my computers' line out stereo jacks, and my Samsung Chromebook Pro. I am still impressed with sound that the little sound bar can provide. Glad I bought it, and it only cost me between $20 and $30.00. Unfortunately, I can't attach it to my new Dell UP3216Q 32" monitor, which would probably need the Dell AC511 reviewed here.

    Would have really loved to hear a mic test on how good the audio pickup is.

    Thanks for making this update. Worth noting that if the soundbar remains silent and says Error then make sure you are using a USB 3.0 A to B cable! I was using a USB 2.0 which looks identical and it does not work.

    helpfull review, thanks. I have noticed that you use a VGA cable, the picture quality on fullHD resolutions is visibly better on a digital signal from hdmi or DP. i realise there are scenarios where you have to use VGA and if that is so i apologize.

    • @Technologyadvisor1
      @Technologyadvisor1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no problem mate and thanks for the comments us small youtubers find it hard to get views these days. I used the vga cable for one reason my ageing laptop has no dp or hdmi/dvi. I totally agree with you regarding quality as vga is a analogue technology due to be phased out. Please share this video if it helped you thanks.

    thanks for the review... the product seems OK but I am apprehensive of the power output, which according to the techical specifications is a mere 2.5 W; whereas the dell monitor S2415H comes with in-built dual speakers have 2x3W power output. What is your comment on this?

    • @Technologyadvisor1

      Its ok for watching anything you want but if you need more you need a 2.1 with sub setup personally some thing like the creative t40's are better but you would expect that as with any thing better means more money. £20 vs £80+. I have tested both creative and hardon speakers and unless you want boom boom sound these will do. Its loud enough for games and films their really not bad at all I have had worse cheap speakers.
      Never go cheap because you will kick yourself. one good thing to note this speaker will fit on some better monitors I went from 1080p to 1440p and the speaker fits both which means I dont have to buy a new speaker. If your after a 5.1 or 7.1 I would recommend the creative sub setup that setup is a bit better than the t40s speakers with the added subwoofer and 3 more speakers . the choice is yours. Personally I have always used creative speakers as their sound devices are great.
      Back to your question I have had a few speakers going to hardon kardon to creative 7.1 setup to a creative t40 2.1 setup I have a very unusual setup for my mac imac which has 2 gigbyte creative 2.1 speakers connected to a edifier predator subwoofer. I use a splitter cable and it works fine so you can use a single sub with a 2.1 sound system.
      Any way I really doubt you will be disappointed with the dell speaker for the money they are a good buy.

      Well it does fit nicely under the monitor and you can hide cables through the stand of the monitor. It loud enough it is usb sound keep that in mind if you want surround sound you need a 5.1 system. Please share this video if it helped you thanks

    Nice review. I want to get the same sound bar but as you said it's best to plug it in the monitor and from the monitor to your computer to get the best sound quality. Do I need to purchase an extra wire for that?

      nope you dont all you need is the speaker the cable is attached.
      Your monitor should include a usb cable from the back of your monitor to your pc or mac.
      If you lost it you can get this. link attached

      Remember if your monitor has a usb3 hub you will need this

    Can you tell if there is a difference in the product number, or some other unique identification of the short cable version or the other? i'm looking into buying one of these soundbars, but i'd really like the short cable one.

    I am trying to turn it into portable speakers. I know it wont work with a powerbank or a wall charger but is there a way that we can use a power bank and send some sort of a signal to D+ or D- to make the "Aux in" work ? It works with a router USB port because router also communicates through D+ D- pins of the USB.

    Thanks for the vid. Question: If the monitor is plugged into something other than a computer--such as an Amazon Fire--will the sounder be able to get the sound from the Amazon Fire via the monitor, or does the monitor have to be plugged into a computer? I have the Dell P2217H monitor, if that helps. Thanks, again.

    • @Technologyadvisor1
      @Technologyadvisor1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem you have is power as for the amazon fire i do not know but I did try a mobile phone to play music through it. I think you still need to be connected to a pc. As long as you have a 3.5mm jack for your device it might work.

      The soundbar needs to be plugged into a computer. Only then you can use the AUX-IN.
