Why you all disliking? I really miss this kind of TH-cam videos, it's like in the old days when it was only about plain content and average people tried to contribute to a community without the primary intention of making money. These days it's all plastic and money.
Ha spends half of the wideo talking about the cable lenght... A review would been comparing the sound quailiy of the soundbar to the similar priced PC speakers.
I liked it. I usually like every video I watch. I rarely dislike a video. If I don't like a video, I wont click like. For me to dislike a video is has to be really bad or a scam video ect. Even then I feel like a dick for disliking the video. So I guess that answers your question. A lot of dicks disliked this video.
I'm late to the party (this was written 1 yrs ago) but totally agree with you! The quality might not be great, but hey, he did show most of the stuff we all wanted to see. I kinda miss the old days of TH-cam when earning money wasn't the no1 reason to make videos. Good ol' days.
@@Techusiast I made a video testing out a video camera I got back in 2013 or 2014. It got a ton of views. All I did was capture video on and try about a bunch of features that came with it. Wasn't a purely scientific review but rather was a candid "first use" of the camera.
The shorter cable is for those monitors with a built in USB hub. Plug the speaker into the hub and then plug a USB cable from the hub into the computer.
Both of you are exactly right. Many modern monitors have a USB hub built in and many use HDMI with audio out or DisplayPort. They also have the AC511M, which includes a bracket to mount to the stand on the newer thin-bezel monitors that cannot clip it to the bottom, and the new monitors also rotate.
But what if I have the new LG gaming monitors without that type of plug. The slots in my new monitor are the new hdmi how can I use these? I hate cords and will pay anything!
No mystery about cable length. Since the soundbar is designed to hang onto the bottom of SOME (but not all) Dell monitors, and it can plug into USB on the back of the monitor, the shorter cable is ideal if you're handing it on the monitor ... saves a lot of behind-the-screen clutter.
Thanks for the video - was wanting to get this so useful to see a video going over the bar. In terms of dislikes - what I might suggest is checking you're not repeating yourself - this video has a whole section duplicated about the differing cable lengths and when this happened and also repeating introducing the name of the bar, how to attach. 2n05 and ~ 3m40 This might sound harsh but I'm trying to be constructive - making a script (so you don't miss giving your review/feelings on the bar, hit key points succinctly without duplication) might help :)
I know this is an old video, but I am still using one of those Dell monitors, that it is really good and I wanted to fit a discrete speaker to free some space of my small home desk. This video was really helpful, so thank you very much.
The soundbar with the short cable is intended for use with Dell Pro series of monitors which have built in USB ports. There is no point in running an additional USB cable to the PC if the monitor happens to have USB ports built into it.It could be the case that s Dell introduced the E sires monitors without the ability to attach the AC511 sound bar Dell may have discontinued the AC511 with the longer USB cable as the pro series monitors available today seem to be the only ones that accept this sound bar and the pro series monitors have the built in USB hub.
+ToeCutter their was a few mistakes as such I remade this video and called it take 2 but thank you always nice to get some positive feedback. th-cam.com/video/nTfQJ2uRcv8/w-d-xo.html
Because he spent the first 4 minutes of an 8 minute video measuring the USB cable. This topic should take up about 10 seconds. Tell us the length and move on.
I have an older Dell monitor with the Dell AX510 soundbar and decided to order the AC511 that fits my new monitor. Sadly, the AC511 simply doesn't sound as good at the AX510. It may be that the AC511 is underpowered at 2.5W vs. 10W for the AX510. The AX510 is not HiFi, but it's listenable. The AC511 in comparison, sounds rolled-off in the highs.
Thanks for this video mate, allow me to ask, when you install it, does it add a "new sound device" on windows for you to choose which device you want to select?
The only video i found on the internet about the matter with reasonable audio quality, i think this is a buy, i was considering the logitech z207 i wonder how much better if it's better at all than it.
This review helped me out. I can't believe how useless dell online representatives are. they insist this sound bar does have any cable or ports but maintain the statement from dell website "Just plug into an available USB port and enjoy the rich stereo sound.". When I questioned them how is it possible to connect to usb port if there isn't any port or usb cable from the sound bar, they replied me says that it only compatible to certain monitor..............
Dell likely did not change to a shorter USB cable to trim costs ... instead, provided a cord more than long enough to connect the speaker to the USB port of the back of the monitors for which it's designed to attach. Less wire dangling everywhere is better.
How did you hook up both speakers at the same time? When I hook them both up they both don't play at the same time. Currently, I have them both plugged into the docking station (Received two with long cables).
Like other here have mentioned, the shorter USB cable is for use with the many monitors Dell sells that come with a built in USB hub. Most if not all Dell monitors that have provision for mounting this soundbar have a built in USB hub. An earlier setup I had used a AS501 soundbar that fit into two slots on the back of the monitor, and snapped into place. It had a small phone plug that plugged into a 12VDC socket on the monitor, and a long cord that plugged into the speaker output on the computer. The biggest difference in these two soundbars is that the earlier one was powered from the monitor (or a wall wart), and used the computer sound output. It's volume control only worked with what was set on the PC. The soundbar would not make the volume louder than it was set on the PC. This newer soundbar receives power from the USB connection, which also connects to the PC as another sound device on the PC. When raising or lowering the volume with the knob or with your mouse from the volume control on the task bar, it shows the volume level on the screen. They both sound very nice, everything comes through crisp and clear, with none of the tinniness you'd expect from monitor speakers. Dell did a good job with these units. They both look like they're part of the monitor.
I choose the one with short cable. After all is a monitor speaker intended to go underneath the monitor. I'd dislike to see all that extra long cable. If I want longer cable i choose a surround sound Altec speakers.
Thanks for updating your video with "take 2! Worth noting that if the soundbar remains silent and says Error then make sure you are using a USB 3.0 A to B cable! I was using a USB 2.0 which looks identical and it does not work.
I am trying to turn it into portable speakers. I know it wont work with a powerbank or a wall charger but is there a way that we can use a power bank and send some sort of a signal to D+ or D- to make the "Aux in" work ? It works with a router USB port because router also communicates through D+ D- pins of the USB.
is it possible to connect this to a LED TV? I tried plug and play style but didn't work at all. Do you have any idea how to make it work? otherwise works perfectly even when I connect to a laptop
how come I cant get 192000hz off the bar? why cant I connect it to my monitor using a normal green wire? its stupid. the USB limits the bandwidth of the audio playback. The instructions say to plug the USB cable from the bar to the back of the monitor, not to your computer.
My Dell AX510 new sound bar couldn't attach to my new Dell 24 Gaming Monitor. The Amazon seller had no compatibility info. Amazon and buyer refunded without hassle or delay. But what fits that monitor???
PLEASE HELP Trying to setup hook up my xbox to my monitor but the sound is not outputting, do I. need to have my PC hooked up to my monitor as well???? I need help!
Nope not a cost saving. One of the soundbar short cable for Dell monitor with built in dock ( usbc can power a laptop). No need for long cable when the monitor can power the soundbar and usbc will convey all the info to laptop. Long cable useful for Pc users.

+Oscar Linde Thanks But I am not happy with this edit I re uploaded it but for some reason it has not uploaded the new edit. As their is a few mistakes which make this edit boring to watch.
Exactly,... the goal is to keep it clean. I myself do have my monitor on a articulated arm, and having extra cable hanging around would be very annoying and messy.
It was a good decision to shorten the cable as all it has to do is go into the back of the monitor. Why all the fuss about the cable? I watched over half this video and most of that was talking about the poxy cable. You need to rename this video to something more appropriate.
its possible I guess but if you connect the speaker direct to a computer it may not gain enough power. It requires extra power from a usb hub from the back of a monitor. I am not sure how you would attach the speaker to a non dell monitor.
He is getting dislikes (and comments /attention) because he doesn't know the advantages or purpose of short USB cables. E.g for monitors with USB connection or for connecting to a vesa small pc mounted on the back of the monitor. edit: 5:59 the monitor has usb connections on the back, why would you think the USB cable is short to cut costs ?! :)
Technologyadvisor1 that is true but that is not the reason it was made that way. It’s called “cable management”. No need for a long cable with the USB hub right near the monitor. Even the dell website describes that the speakers were made to go with specific monitors which have the USB port in the rear of the monitor.
Mine is not working. In the begin i just put the usb into my macbook and after a week. When i go to settings>sound it says a weird name and not “dell ac511” please help

The short cable is made to avoid having clutter of cables in the back of the monitor
The short cable is for the P2*14 series of monitors that have the use port on the rear of the monitor.
When I saw he was bald i thoutgh to myself "i can't watch this" turns out it was a good review after all
@Pedro Rodrigues LMAO
The shorter cable is for those monitors with a built in USB hub. Plug the speaker into the hub and then plug a USB cable from the hub into the computer.
And if you have HDMI and a monitor with audio-out, run a short audio wire from the monitor to the speaker.

Its short for a reason. The ultrasharp and P series have USB ports under the monitor. You should be using them for good cable management.
