It’s good to finally see a Bishop speaking out against what must be confusing to non Catholics when they see our President agreeing with things that the Church strictly prohibits. Many may call out our President as a fake Catholic. Our Bishops need to step up and speak the truth, thank you for doing that.
Biden isn't just any other Catholic, he is the leader of the most powerful nation in the world. As a public servant he should not be seen or perceived as favoring one religion over others or mixing religion with politics. Only God has the authority to judge him.
Do not bring religion into politics --- it's impossible in doing so without excluding many interest groups and in a pluralistic democracy.
Why aren't Christian clergy speaking out against ex-President Trump and the GOP --- and even the divisive Christian nationalism? They are fake Christians. And ex-President Trump has been exposed as politically motivated in being pro-life.
We as Catholics can practice our faith truly and faithfully by evangelizing and manifesting within the church and the community; entering the political arena can only clash with other religious and racial groups.
But the man did not say a word about Trump lies during his presidency?

That means no more sacrilegious communion to heretics AND no more communion in the hand AND no more lay "Eucharistic ministers" at every single Mass. Only in rare extraordinary conditions, like their real title: extra-ordinary ministers of Holy Communion.

@@Akrafena According to Church teaching, if a Catholic knowingly openly supports the killing the innocent unborn, that Catholic by his or her own admission, is already themselves excommunicated. The Church can also proclaim that Catholics who openly support abortion are immediately excommunicated from receiving Holy Communion. To be able to receive Holy Communion, the Catholic must first confess the sin of abortion with a sincere heart. Then and only then can those Catholics be able to receive HC and become one with the church and its teachings.

The bishop is addressing a self-professed Catholic who, by his (Biden's) actions is saying "I'm a good Catholic and can do what I want". By not responding the bishops are giving tacit approval to his actions. For the well being of those in trusted to his care, this bishop is telling his people that they CANNOT act like this and be considered a Catholic in good standing. Biden is not a Catholic, by his own actions, and should stop saying he is. As a public figure, Biden can do what he wants and end up after death where God wants him, but he should stop causing scandle to good Catholics. The bishop is doing his job.

He is not the Pope and not elected to defend Catholic dogma. I am a former SSPX Tridentine Catholic and now athiest. I am so sick and tired of the expectation of hard-core Catholic that American politicians ought to serve their religious beliefs above the US Constitution which they swore an oath to. For men and women of the Catholic faith, like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, they vowed and swore in the name of the God they believe in to defend the Constitution. That document lays out freedom of religion and our Founders made clear they did not want religion or religiously based morality being the foundation of our country or its laws.
