- Mike and I are back at it again exploring a new permission near the river. With some luck, we discover a camping area in the woods and find some great relics. We then work our way out into the fields where the finds continue.

This video is kinda long, but we had a great time and I wanted to share as much as I could. I hope you enjoy watching the video as much as we did making it. Thanks for watching!!!
Mike's channel can be found here, please check him out: www.youtube.com/@gr8finds196
Never too long! Just have to make sure I'm well stocked on beverage & snacks. Time to watch.
Some more excellent civil war artifacts recovered Mr. Chiggs. I'm hoping to get out dirt fishing here tomorrow afternoon the snow has almost all melted away up here near Ottawa. I have not been out since October so tomorrow will be great to get out. Keep up the great work and happy hunting.
My name is Thomas, I'm 64 and would like to go Detecting with you one day. I've seen all your Videos when I'm not Detecting myself. I really enjoy your Videos and love your channel so keep Detecting
I love longer videos! The more, the merrier!
The logging tool is a cant hook. The sleeve thing with teeth goes on the bottom and the hook is attached a little more up the pole. A timber man couldn’t live without one.
Mikes a nice young man , I'm glad you are working with him.
I like it when Mike finds something interesting. He really gets excited. A good addition to your video.
That was another nice day you shared with Mike. Thanks for showing the 69 vs 59 caliber. Of course, you recently gave us a lesson on canister shot so knew exactly what you were referring to. I can be a slow learner, Beau, but you are a patient teacher. It was another adventure that I enjoyed and still couldn't believe how fast it was over! Please keep them coming!
I ain’t nobody but I approve of this message.😊 And, I’m glad Mike is with you.
Oh, Doug... you somebody....lol.
I believe the name of the tool that the two pieces of iron found around the 4'30" mark came from, were part of a tool called a Peavy Cant Hook, which was used to turn over larger logs when cutting trees down. They were hinged and there wood have been a pretty stout wooden hanle.
Thanks.
agreed ! I own one of those peaveys !
Used for rolling logs, usually a man using one at each end of the log.
I really enjoy the adventures with Mike!
Chigg the woods never stop producing iv been hunting the same woods for 15 years allways find more
Great video. Mike is so enthusiastic.
You and Mike had a great hunt
Mike's a good add to your channel. He seems very likeable and very knowledgeable .......Great finds guys.
Thanks Jay. 😊
Good afternoon in wet England, what a very interesting video how amazing that you had so many varieties of bullets, what I found interesting is when you had put the two lead bullets next to each other what a size difference from one to another ,I can't imagine what damage that would have done to a horse or a human, terrible even to think about what I did like chigg is when you were explaining about the acid from the leaves had made the lead go brown ,in general a very interesting video, thanks again, wear gloves 🧤 😮 stay safe
In appreciation for all you share. Thanks, Professor, keep them coming!
Thanks so much Tom. I'll keep at it for ya!
@@aquachigger On the days you don't post, I go to your playlists. There is no way I can watch all of them before it's my "time". Take care, and I'll keep watching. BTW, I still wonder if you do your own laundry! LOL! 😉
I can't even imagine finding a civil war musket ball just lying on the ground 😳Watching now Chigg & Mike... 💖💖
You and Mike had a very good day, Chigg! So many awesome Civil War finds!❤
Thanks for sharing. I always love when you find civil war bullets👌🏻
The items yall had at 13:48 are parts to a logging tool used to roll logs. I've seen those before. It had a wooden handle.
That was awesome, Chigg & Mike, amazing relics!!!!!!! Thank you both 💖💖
We all love the long adventures!
I'll second that!
Great video chigg, awesome bullets and relics!!!! History in your hand!!!!
Funny how you can metal detect a place that's been hit insanely hard and still find something surprisingly. There was an area that was hit probably for 30 or 40 years. I had it for two years. Found a bunch of bullets and shelf fragments. But I must've went back five or so times and found nothing. Then out of nowhere one day, I found five or six Burnside bullets altogether in an area I must've hit a bunch of times lol
Most awesome finds buddy @aquachigger the round piece with the teeth is an end piece off of a "can't hook" for rolling logs. We use them sometimes when we cut firewood
Chiggs, great finds and nice seeing you and Mike out on a wet and muddy day.👍😀👏
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
musket balls and bullets..I’m percolating!
I love small heavy things esp metals 🤜
Old federal X shell that saved me in court !!!
It's called a Peavy.
Used 4 rolling logs
That’s a CAN HOOK used to roll logs with
Nice finds! I believe what you both found (14:00) are the remains of a cant hook used in logging operations for rolling and moving downed trees.
Great finds, lot's of good luck
Its so amazing how you guys know what all the rusty relics are!
I dug an old pistol and a broken revolver and wish I could figure out their age. Thanks for the great videos!
Guess the place wasn't hit as hard as you thought Nice finds guys!
New machines and more desperation.
Love them old bullets great finds
Another top notch vid! Thanks.
That place definitely isn't hunted out to dig that many finds!
Awesome finds. Like tagging along.
Great team and video..Best nugget
Thanks for the adventure!!😊👍
Gotta love that Civil war lead
Hey you two happy February. I was thinking that metal detecting is good clean fun! It just a bit of dirt. The detectorist is an adventurous sole. Detectorist can learn about the past and that adds to the point of detecting. Lots of stuff to still be found. The thing anout detecting is ya never know what you will find. Its mostly junk but sometimes its treasure.a piece of history or some lost item you find for someone! Ive even used it for work. Isnt life fun? Best wish to you all and be safe.
Thanks! You too!
The tip you found and the hook Mike found were from a “Cant Hook”. It is used to roll/move a log.
You can still buy them today.
Thanks for the id.
Chig, I love your show. Congrats.
I appreciate that, thanks
Hoping Garrett’s new machine is available soon. Congrats on some great finds.
I hope so too!
Did you remember to get your jacket out of the tree at 9:46? LOL. I hope so! That looked cold and wet ... Brr! I didn't see Mike's hook in the round-up? Is it still on the top of the hill (with your jacket)? LOL! I hope not! Great finds, you guys! - Stay safe! - Muddypaw
Always leave the modern bullets , 200 years from now someone will love the find
Yeah but I'll have to dig them again and again, plus lead in nature is bad.....mmmmmk? ;)
I am amazed at the number of broken horseshoes you find. I have found plenty of worn whole ones but not many if any broken ones. Must be the steel used.
I can't remember the proper name for the logging tool, but it was for rolling a log. The part you found Chig, is the end and the hook part would be the length of the hook up the wood handle. The whole thing would be about 5 feet long.
@14:15 min: Yes it´s for logging. In Germany we called it "Wendehaken". (The big hook)
Nice finds Aqua Chigger dude !
Chunka-chunka-chunka-lead! 😂
Your iron item is the end from a cant hook for rolling logs. And the hook end the other guy found is the rest of it. It probably had a 4' wooden handle in it.
I believe that hook is for rolling logs, not dragging.
Hey ....digging with your fingers again.....after getting lucky with the Canada Dry bottle top ! Have done this ...got a huge cut. (Digging a car out of the sand ...by hand . ) Love your videos! Always interested in what you dig up.
I have a .300 Win Mag casing on my desk just like that one.
The thing at 10:00 is part of a can’t hook, at least I’m pretty sure it is.
Yip only thing missing is the wood handle
Tannic Acid
I recognize the Peavy. I've used one many times.
It's called a cant hook, logging tool for rolling logs.
Those large metal hook type of things were used to turn logs over I used those type of gadget in the sawmill we called them dog's they were a long metal bar or wooden pole with a metal dog with a ratchet
@14:13 ,that's a Peavy,for rolling logs over
Hey Chigg and whoever else is there with you
why are the railroad spike driven in with the lip down. back in 1968 i sometimes would drive spikes into telephone poles i worked for southern bell. they had a lip on the rod and it kept your boots from slipping off the climbing peg .
⭐️👍
The Peavy Hook is still in use today
Shotgun shells or other metals for scraps helps pay for batteries. Good stuff free.
Niec

That was end ot a cant hook

That 69 cal ball is almost the size of a 12 ga slug.
Put a handle in it
21:00 .375 or .338?
Do you melt the copper and brass you find that is worth less
Hey Mr chigger, what do you recommend as a good beginner metal detector? I hope you can respond please. I think that you use a Garrett. I just bought a really cheap one.
Any name brand and the more you spend on it, the better it will be.
