    4:04 : another great video. A tip for anyone out there. The drain tap before you touch it, if you tippex a mark point on it you will know how much to tighten it with going to far. Also alot of people just box spanners and wtenches to open this. The best thing to use is a DEEP 10mm or 13mm socket (i forget the size) this way you will round the corners or snap it.
    9:29 : also again a deep socket on here prevents any issues compare to a screwdriver. Ask me how i know😂

    you dont need to catch the coolant from the drain valuve like that with a hose. You can just bung a coke bottle in the end and catch it all.

      Make sure water is circulating, expansion bottle getting warm/hot? Pipes feel hard to compress?
      Make absolutely sure it's circulating.

      No need to get rid of all the coolant, most of it empties by pulling the radiator hose as you see in the vid.

    Hi mate wonder if you can help me 2012 corsa header tank just starting spitting water out … I’ve chaned thermostat and water pump …. Should be ok now and how do o bleed a 2012 cooling system cheers

    • @junkendriven
      @junkendriven  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hiya, they're quite good at bleeding themselves, but if you look at the left of the radiator there is a bleed screw, use a long screwdriver and you can open it. Use the squeezing pipes and circulating by hand before running the engine and you'll find you get most air straight out.
      There are quite a few coolant videos on my channel now so take a look and hopefully will help you out :-)

    Hi mate, I’ve also got a 2012 Vauxhall Corsa petrol and for the first time I got a warning light for the coolant on my dash. Knowing nothing about cars I presumed that my coolant just needing filling and when I checked the coolant tank it seemed empty. I had just bought some coolant and proceeded to fill it into the tank without going through the steps in this video. I also did not mix it with water which I later found it you have to do. The car after I turned it on sounds a lot better and seemed to run a lot smoother. Any suggestions on what I should do?

    • @junkendriven
      @junkendriven  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kyle, good you added coolant, how much did you put in? Did it fill the coolant bottle quickly and that was it? If so the concentrate will be fine.
      You need to keep checking over the next couple of days, see if the level is going down. If so then you're losing coolant and need to find where and why, nothing worse than losing all your coolant, the engine will overheat and damage itself so keep an eye on it

    • @KylesXI
      @KylesXI 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@junkendriven Hi Andy, had the car checked out as there was smoke coming from the engine too. It does turn out to be a leak unfortunately so the coolant levels seems to diminish fairly quickly. I’m booked to have the issue fixed on tuesday and the mechanic said that I should be okay to keep driving cautiously until then as long as I keep an eye on the coolant level and top it up.

      @@strich765 ok , do you work on cars yourself or would you drop it into a garage ??, there could be multiple reasons why your coolant is getting hotter than it should, check the level of coolant in the expansion tank when the engine is cold first and make sure that it is not low or you have a leak somewhere as it could be a small one but it means the system wont be pressurised correctly, from new they often use coolant that is only available to them which often have a life of 10years. if your going to work on the car yourself i would start with checking the condtion of the coolant with a hydrometer, it could be something as simple as the coolant needs renewing, your car should use the red or orange colored oat based coolant, coolant is made up of different chemicals, which prevent overheating in the summer, freezing the winter and anticorrosion because it is mixed with water, if you do renew it yourself it is fairly easy do do but you must follow the correct procedure when replacing it and the oat coolants will last for 5 years. let me know what you plan to do ?

    Hi Andy brought a corsa 1.2 2009 in nov my first. • @junkendriven
      @junkendriven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kelley, tricky that to work out exactly what's wrong. My suspicion would be still on the coolant isn't flowing properly so I'd say get a full flush on it, especially through the matrix (heater into the cabin) and radiator.
      When it gets up to temperature is the radiator hot all over or does it feel cold at the bottom? If so then radiator is full of sludge causing water flow to be slow.
      Final issue, may be the water pump itself needs replacing if it can't pump water round properly.
      At a guess there has been cooling issues and some radweld or similar has been used to bodge it. It takes a lot to get that stuff cleared out. Good luck

    • @kelleyxoxofoley3376
      @kelleyxoxofoley3376 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for getting back to me will check the rad seeing if it all gets hot ..when the thermostat is open it’s hot just past the water pump but cold going onto matrix
      and coming out it’s coming back into the coolant bottle but slow will try and flush matrix what would the pressure it the bottle be when you open it

    • @junkendriven
      @junkendriven  ปีที่แล้ว

      If engine is hot you should always have a decent pressure on water bottle, enough to take care when opening it. If it doesn't then it could be the expansion tank cap venting ( cap has a pressure release valve in it).
      I'd also be suspecting water pump failing as if you're not getting hot water the other side of it then it's just not able to flow with enough force.

    Hi matey, I recently bought my partner a 1.4 corsa d 2007, everything was fine when I bought the car but I've noticed that when the car gets to temperature the normal tappet ticking seems to get abnormally loud, I can't distinguish where the noise is coming from or what it is, do you have any idea? Any help would be massively appreciated

    • @junkendriven
      @junkendriven  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Alex, so this could be one of two things, the first is just the PCV which I've done a video showing, so maybe you can listen closely to this component and see if it's coming from there? - th-cam.com/video/VBY15y1OKyk/w-d-xo.html
      The second would be the timing chain, which isn't good news. I'd do an oil change first though, as fresh oil may help if it's not been done in a while and not lubricating the timing chain correctly. Hope you can track it down.

    • @brucewayne7838
      @brucewayne7838 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi alex , if it a continuous ticking/clicking noise it is usually the timing chain, if it is the same sound but intermittent then it is most likely the evap valve which can be replaced or you can take it off and clean it out with carb cleaner.
