How to Easily Tie a Squirmy Wormy - Euro Fly Fishing

If you're a fly fisherman you've probably recently heard all the buzz about euro nymphing...."everybody's doing it.." It's true...and now everyone is tying euro flies. If you have recently picked up euro nymphing and want an effect worm pattern, this one is awesome. This squirmy wormy tutorial is a quick and simple video showing how to tie one of many euro nymphing fly patterns. I've tried tying a few different worm patterns but this one seems to be the most effective. In the video there's couple things I reference that I've seen other guys do while tying to this fly. One is a technique of not tearing the squirmy material with thread. This fly is used for trout and we've found that steelhead love them also.

Fly Fish Food has a nice video of this pattern. That actually is a bit easier. Also saves some of the cutting of the squirmy material. Definitely not criticizing yours. Just offering an alternative example.

People say it is on the Pere Marquette but it seems like there's some grey areas. I just avoid it because I don't want the hassle. 🙄

Also inside Yellowstone NP they aren't allowed on any of the "fly only" areas.
