Medical mistreatment is extremely sensitive---its this terrifying, sickening betrayal that can happen anywhere/everywhere. It's more than just a story, there's an ethical responsibility in its portrayal, as well as an empathetic responsibility in the storytelling. (Particularly due to the lack of intimate coverage on these stories, I mean) Great job, Petal!

As someone with multiple chronic illnesses, I am not surprised sick people fell for his magical oils. I’ve tried some weird things to heal myself, so I can’t judge people who are desperate. That being said, this whole thing is infuriating and I hate when people who are vulnerable are preyed upon.

I had no clue about this and am horrified that I bought over $300 worth of this stuff many years ago. If I knew the product history, I never would have And it’s going in the trash today! The chicken blood part honestly cracks me up. Chicken blood has oval shaped red blood cells that have a nucleus, compared to human red blood cells, which are more round and do not have a nucleus. Basically, it's very easy to tell that it is NOT human blood when looking at the cells.

I bought a couple oils cause they smelled good, which is nice for relaxing, but not a single one because I thought it was going to help my health. But I was so annoyed by the pressure I got, even from celebrities! Thanks for covering this story, it’s great to know the full story behind this mess!
I had that happening too, it’s so frustrating. And even when you do what they recommend and show them it doesn’t work they still push more of these “cures”. Some people refuse to believe we have actual medical conditions.!
The best comment I ever got was when I told someone (who had no business giving me advice) that my condition was so debilitating that they put into what was basically artificial menopause (I was like 19). (It wasn't a story or convo I just stated a fact bc it was relevant.) And she says oh WOW that's REALLY bad for you I've read some stuff, I'll send you some things. 🤪🤡 [A boss I barely knew]~

I’ll never use oil to treat cancer, but I did find out that some oils really do help with my postCovid arthritis. They do help, people just severely overestimate what they help with & also give them to people that are far too fragile/sensitive

No kidding. People just take what these quacks say because they cannot or don’t want to examine the claims. Once a person buys into this stuff, it’s hard for them to change their mind and they go from cure to cure with no real effects beyond placebo. Confirmation bias until the next fad comes along. If a practitioner is directly profiting from some treatment that is not considered acceptable to experts in the medical field corresponding to the ailment, then they are not legitimate.

I agree, and I also watch anti-MLM content. My mom is (and has been for as long as I can remember) really into every quacky, woowoo, snake oil device, supplement & herb out there. To be fair, she has lived to be almost 90, but it's not like she's never been sick a day in her life or even had particularly excellent health. She's still got allergies, arthritis, etc., despite taking around 30 pills a day. She credits the massive amount of supplements & herbs she takes with her miraculous recovery from Covid...despite the fact that she wasn't even taking them once she got into the hospital! 🙄 Meanwhile, my dad was the single healthiest person I've ever met until he finally succumbed to cancer at age 87. He never took vitamins or had a vigorous exercise regimen or, well... anything. And he was sick for exactly 4 days out of my life, until the cancer finally took him down. He just believed in taking regular long walks, eating A LOT of fresh fruits & veggies, and taking regular steam saunas. (His dad was from Ukraine, thus the steam sauna thing.) But I was terrified when he was diagnosed with inoperable cancer that my mom would somehow try to push him into wasting his last months of life on wheatgrass juice enemas, essential oils, supplements or any other expensive snake oil that claims to miraculously cure cancer. Luckily, she didn't and he was able to die in peace and with dignity.

If you have a doctor who sells oils, special vitamins or strange products in the office, you need to get someone else for healthcare. I support alternative techniques like acupuncture and cupping, but I want a Doctor with both an MD and Eastern medical license.

Research and practice in educator training in student disabilities and or research into disability policy in education. PhD in Disability Studies itself involving all areas applicable. Sounds cool. I would have liked that!

I'm from the city Young was born in and knew several people who were highly into using essential oils and even the raindrop technique thing. I like using essential oils sometimes for things like its aroma, or even sometimes peppermint can help a headache (only sometimes though) but it should never replace a real doctor.
As a native Californian whose family is very crunchy. This man's misinformation and snake oil is still alive and strong. A lot of my family members think he was being persecuted or the charges were made up. It makes it difficult as someone with fibromyalgia to get them to understand

They always claim there is a coverup by big Pharma or persecution via a widespread conspiracy ( although big Pharma is often corrupt for being too greedy and pushing drugs on consumers) to explain away the problems with these quacks. When a person has committed to a belief system for some time, it’s almost impossible for them to truly change their mind when presented with verifiable evidence to the contrary.

Just found your channel! Loved this video and can’t wait to watch more, you’ll get a kick out of this. I’m from Utah and was working at an endocrinology clinic when I had a new patient come in with a blood pressure over 200/100 so urgently elevated, I notified the patient that she needed to go the ER per doctors orders but she refused to believe that she has hypertension though she admitted she has been told this by numerous other doctors. She then told me that she treats it naturally by injecting 10 ml of lavender oil into her rectum and that she forgot to do this on this particular day. She also told me she has cured herself of 7 cancers using essential oils (including thyroid and colon) though NONE of her medical records supported her claims but rather showed negative biopsies of thyroid nodules and colon polyps with no mention of previous or current malignancy. I was baffled.
For something for all people in general, if a product is an MLM, it is always a scam. If the product was good or trustworthy, you wouldn’t need to use the pyramid scheme style tactics for company profits. And you can assume the people in charge know this and aren’t mislead and just discouraged by mainstream industries. Again, setting up a pyramid like scheme is very intentional and obviously malicious.

Man I am so grateful that though my mom was way into essential oils, she was perceptive enough to use them as supplemental care and not as a replacement for medical science. We grew up with oils in the house, but like. When we were sick we went to the doctor. We took the antibiotics. We followed the doctors' advice. And you know, we'd also get some lavender dabbed on our feetsies at night or some thieves diffused in the house. I miss my mom so much, and as much as I resent Gary Young and his stupid mlm, the smell of those oils brings me right back to childhood comforts. Sigh
Thanks for bringing more art mention to this person & his company. People need to know the harm they’re still doing, even with Garry gone. If someone uses essential oils coz they smell good, great. Buy them from better companies. But they don’t cure anything & they are actually pretty awful for the environment, requiring so much of the ingredient to extract the oil & make one tiny bottle.

This story is about the largest hepatitis C outbreak in American history which infected 99 cancer patients at an oncology clinic in Fremont, Nebraska through malpractice and many overlooked red flags. The story of many of the patients and their attorneys are covered in the book “A Never Event” by Evelyn V. McKnight and Travis T. Bennington. This story hasn’t been covered much, especially on TH-cam. I think you would do a fantastic job covering it!

Thankfully new gene and other treatments are being used to treat some cancers much better and with very few side effect relative to chemo and radiation. It’s an exciting time breakthroughs in earlier detection and better treatment of cancer.

thank you for talking about Vitamin B17/Amygdalan! I tell people about that and they think I'm crazy...especially the cyanide part. I don't understand how it's still around. Also, as an Occupational Therapist, I do actually sometimes clinically use oils or fragrances for people with PTSD. For instance, if I have a combat veteran, I might get him or her something that smells strongly of something they'd never find in a combat zone, so that if they start re-experiencing it, they can smell it and be reminded where they are. I find peppermint is a really good one - peppermint is a very strong, very unique scent, and it's rare for traumas to occur in places that smell like peppermint. But like, it doesn't cure PTSD or anything, it just helps ground people to that their flashback isn't real and helps them focus on where they are now. I would agree with you by the way that if it's affordable to you and makes you feel better and you're using it safely, nothing wrong with using oils or crystals or whatever you want that makes you feel better. Even if it is just placebo effect - placebo effect can have a huge impact on your health. But I agree, the issue is when people are being encouraged to do it in place of other options without being given full information or when people are spending all their finances on it (though, I live in Canada, where regular medical care has more coverage, so my money concerns about alternative medicine might be more culturally specific)

My grandmother was a young living follower. She believed everything these people said, and I've actually met a lot of the top people in the company. They claimed it could cure cancer, which she died of a few years later. I dunno. She didn't go to the doctor until it was too late because they told her it wasn't as good as their oils, and she spent her last years in a lot of pain. It's upsetting. I have some of these oils still, I use what I have left of the lavender for smelling when I'm stressed. I don't want any more, and don't plan on buying anything from them. But I'm glad people are talking about it because it has actually hurt people, I've seen it, I've lived it

I had friends trying to “cure” me of my serious medical conditions with those stupid products and made me so mad. I bought a couple oils cause they smelled good, which is nice for relaxing, but not a single one because I thought it was going to help my health. But I was so annoyed by the pressure I got, even from celebrities!

The best comment I ever got was when I told someone (who had no business giving me advice) that my condition was so debilitating that they put into what was basically artificial menopause (I was like 19). (It wasn't a story or convo I just stated a fact bc it was relevant.) And she says oh WOW that's REALLY bad for you I've read some stuff, I'll send you some things. 🤪🤡 [A boss I barely knew]~

I’ll never use oil to treat cancer, but I did find out that some oils really do help with my postCovid arthritis. They do help, people just severely overestimate what they help with & also give them to people that are far too fragile/sensitive

It's actually terrifying knowing how many people are walking around as doctors without medical licenses. Like Christopher duntsch who had a lot of people die or get super injured in his care.
It's even worse when actual Drs have lawsuits hidden, nurses that speak up are fired and management covers for the Drs if they're creating revenue.
No kidding. People just take what these quacks say because they cannot or don’t want to examine the claims. Once a person buys into this stuff, it’s hard for them to change their mind and they go from cure to cure with no real effects beyond placebo. Confirmation bias until the next fad comes along. If a practitioner is directly profiting from some treatment that is not considered acceptable to experts in the medical field corresponding to the ailment, then they are not legitimate.

My mom is (and has been for as long as I can remember) really into every quacky, woowoo, snake oil device, supplement & herb out there. To be fair, she has lived to be almost 90, but it's not like she's never been sick a day in her life or even had particularly excellent health. She's still got allergies, arthritis, etc., despite taking around 30 pills a day. She credits the massive amount of supplements & herbs she takes with her miraculous recovery from Covid...despite the fact that she wasn't even taking them once she got into the hospital! 🙄
Meanwhile, my dad was the single healthiest person I've ever met until he finally succumbed to cancer at age 87. He never took vitamins or had a vigorous exercise regimen or, well... anything. And he was sick for exactly 4 days out of my life, until the cancer finally took him down. He just believed in taking regular long walks, eating A LOT of fresh fruits & veggies, and taking regular steam saunas. (His dad was from Ukraine, thus the steam sauna thing.) But I was terrified when he was diagnosed with inoperable cancer that my mom would somehow try to push him into wasting his last months of life on wheatgrass juice enemas, essential oils, supplements or any other expensive snake oil that claims to miraculously cure cancer. Luckily, she didn't and he was able to die in peace and with dignity.

If you have a doctor who sells oils, special vitamins or strange products in the office, you need to get someone else for healthcare. I support alternative techniques like acupuncture and cupping, but I want a Doctor with both an MD and Eastern medical license.

Okay I cannot stress enough what you do with a newborns umbilical cord: leave it alone!! Keep it dry, it literally falls off on it's own, it is a natural thing that happens. Putting anything like that on a freaking new born could be dangerous. Unbelievable that anyone would say to do that.

I'm from the city Young was born in and knew several people who were highly into using essential oils and even the raindrop technique thing. I like using essential oils sometimes for things like its aroma, or even sometimes peppermint can help a headache (only sometimes though) but it should never replace a real doctor.

They always claim there is a coverup by big Pharma or persecution via a widespread conspiracy ( although big Pharma is often corrupt for being too greedy and pushing drugs on consumers) to explain away the problems with these quacks. When a person has committed to a belief system for some time, it’s almost impossible for them to truly change their mind when presented with verifiable evidence to the contrary.

I live in Idaho and this crap is RAMPANT! I’ve worked for several medical doctors and a lot of our patients also see these whack jobs for homeopathic remedies. And we usually end up fixing stuff that the homeopathic doctors screw up, but the patient never learn.
Trying to explain to my sister these companies are scams. I spent my 20s wasting money and time calling it MY BUSINESS. Just found your channel! Loved this video and can’t wait to watch more, you’ll get a kick out of this. I’m from Utah and was working at an endocrinology clinic when I had a new patient come in with a blood pressure over 200/100 so urgently elevated, I notified the patient that she needed to go the ER per doctors orders but she refused to believe that she has hypertension though she admitted she has been told this by numerous other doctors. She then told me that she treats it naturally by injecting 10 ml of lavender oil into her rectum and that she forgot to do this on this particular day. She also told me she has cured herself of 7 cancers using essential oils (including thyroid and colon) though NONE of her medical records supported her claims but rather showed negative biopsies of thyroid nodules and colon polyps with no mention of previous or current malignancy. I was baffled.

For something for all people in general, if a product is an MLM, it is always a scam. If the product was good or trustworthy, you wouldn’t need to use the pyramid scheme style tactics for company profits. And you can assume the people in charge know this and aren’t mislead and just discouraged by mainstream industries. Again, setting up a pyramid like scheme is very intentional and obviously malicious.

Man I am so grateful that though my mom was way into essential oils, she was perceptive enough to use them as supplemental care and not as a replacement for medical science. We grew up with oils in the house, but like. When we were sick we went to the doctor. We took the antibiotics. We followed the doctors' advice. And you know, we'd also get some lavender dabbed on our feetsies at night or some thieves diffused in the house. I miss my mom so much, and as much as I resent Gary Young and his stupid mlm, the smell of those oils brings me right back to childhood comforts. Sigh

Thanks for bringing more art mention to this person & his company. People need to know the harm they’re still doing, even with Garry gone. If someone uses essential oils coz they smell good, great. Buy them from better companies. But they don’t cure anything & they are actually pretty awful for the environment, requiring so much of the ingredient to extract the oil & make one tiny bottle.

This story is about the largest hepatitis C outbreak in American history which infected 99 cancer patients at an oncology clinic in Fremont, Nebraska through malpractice and many overlooked red flags. The story of many of the patients and their attorneys are covered in the book “A Never Event” by Evelyn V. McKnight and Travis T. Bennington. I wish essential oils could cure cancer - we would much rather treat patients with those instead of chemo. Unfortunately that's just not the case.
Oncologists get 65% of their income from selling chemo. One of the only class of drugs that offer this benefit to Drs.
Thankfully new gene and other treatments are being used to treat some cancers much better and with very few side effect relative to chemo and radiation. It’s an exciting time breakthroughs in earlier detection and better treatment of cancer.

thank you for talking about Vitamin B17/Amygdalan! I tell people about that and they think I'm crazy...especially the cyanide part. I don't understand how it's still around.
Also, as an Occupational Therapist, I do actually sometimes clinically use oils or fragrances for people with PTSD. For instance, if I have a combat veteran, I might get him or her something that smells strongly of something they'd never find in a combat zone, so that if they start re-experiencing it, they can smell it and be reminded where they are. I find peppermint is a really good one - peppermint is a very strong, very unique scent, and it's rare for traumas to occur in places that smell like peppermint.
But like, it doesn't cure PTSD or anything, it just helps ground people to that their flashback isn't real and helps them focus on where they are now.
I would agree with you by the way that if it's affordable to you and makes you feel better and you're using it safely, nothing wrong with using oils or crystals or whatever you want that makes you feel better. Even if it is just placebo effect - placebo effect can have a huge impact on your health. But I agree, the issue is when people are being encouraged to do it in place of other options without being given full information or when people are spending all their finances on it (though, I live in Canada, where regular medical care has more coverage, so my money concerns about alternative medicine might be more culturally specific)
But, it doesn’t cure. Like, that’s important to know

My grandmother was a young living follower. She believed everything these people said, and I've actually met a lot of the top people in the company. They claimed it could cure cancer, which she died of a few years later. I dunno. She didn't go to the doctor until it was too late because they told her it wasn't as good as their oils, and she spent her last years in a lot of pain. It's upsetting. I have some of these oils still, I use what I have left of the lavender for smelling when I'm stressed. I don't want any more, and don't plan on buying anything from them. But I'm glad people are talking about it because it has actually hurt people, I've seen it, I've lived it
