Thanks for the vintage cards coverage. I only collect vintage cards since 1955. I am 74 years old, my father gave me 2 packs of 1955 Topps baseball. Every Friday he would bring me home a couple packs.😊great price on the nice Yaz rookie. 😊
Well done video. Amazing how much vintage. It would be hard to make up my mind which card to buy with so many choices. Appreciate you taking me with you on your Convention journey. Congratulations on you nice pickups.
Love the content and a well put together video! I appreciate you taking the time to video looking through all the vintage cards and making us jealous! LOL. Very nice pickup on the Yaz, Ryan's, Clement and Mays cards
Really cool seeing the show footage! Congrats on some awesome pickups. Great stuff to replenish your stock. Congrats on the two huge pickups! Love both of those
Sammy, was great to meet you in person and to hang out a bit. Cool that you got a couple cards turned around quickly with SGC. Love the Mays and Catfish Hunter cards. Safe travels back.
Great stuff man, congrats on the ‘52 Mays, Yaz, and Clemente! I love my small 60-120 table shows. The National looks just as overwhelming as I thought. Too many cards - my head would explode!
Appreciate you watching Tim! There were A LOT of Whitey Ford cards that were heavily discounted. He's a tough player to sell in the hobby. Unless it's his early cards, he just doesn't garner enough interest.
You do a great job on the video of showing the cards. It was like being at the National!! Great pickups in the Clemente and Mays for your collection!! Do you believe the card prices at the National were reasonable? What were the pros and cons of this years show?
Thank you Ken. All great questions! Most of the card prices were inflated. There were some dealers who did have some great deals on cards. I tended to gravitate towards those tables. Some of the pros of this year's National were that there was a lot of variety. Plenty of vintage tables to explore despite the prices. A lot of unique and rare items could be discovered. The rare and unique isn't exactly where I am knowledgable in, but it's great to learn from some of the other content creators who really love that stuff. Some of the cons was probably something out of the control of the organizers and the building maintenance, but the heat inside the building was, at times, overwhelming. Different areas of the convention center were hotter than others. A lot of water and breaks to sit down. I felt like there were times that I could have fainted, but thankfully, I had enough water to keep my hydrated.
@@SammyThunder Sammy, Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer my questions!! I have not attended a National so your video and your words are the closest I may get. Have you been to the National before? Did you get to meet some content creators to the hobby? Why do people go to the National in the large numbers since it is overheated, overcrowded and overpriced? Ken
I went last year. I'm a newbie in regards to going to The National. I did get a chance to meet other content creators and hang out with them for a bit. The overheated part was not expected. When it comes to why people go if it's overpriced and overcrowded, I'd only be guessing by saying that it's the experience of having endless amounts of options available at their disposal to make the best deal possible. Also, it's a place where you can find a rare card that you wouldn't find at a smaller show.
@@SammyThunder Thank you for taking time to answer my questions!! I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at the National and find more treasures!! I love your channel and appreciate you sharing your vintage cards!!
Wow!! That place was rocking!! I don't collect cards myself (well I did as a young kid), so how can you find what you're looking for? There were trillions and trillions of cards laid out everywhere!
It’s very difficult to navigate because there are so many options. However, there are a few dealers that I have purchased from in the past, so I go to their tables.
Sammy, it was great meeting you at the event and taking cards, I had a blast! some sweet pickups love the Yaz RC! That Clemente RC is sweet. The 52 Mays looks fantastic in its new tux. Congrats!
Man, it was so great to meet you too. Really had a great time chatting with you and learning so much from you. It was a real pleasure to be able to hang out with you and other content creators!
Sooo many Mantles , If you go next year and need a driver let me know from south of Albany lol Anyways looks like a lot of Vintage cards Can't wait for the next episode thanks for being there and sharing your experiences
Man it looks so overwhelming there lol Nice Irvin. Cool deal on the price ! Sweet Catfish Hunter rookie !! I have never seen that card before. Wow that Yaz rookie is so cool. Amazing cards. I am loving this !! Wow Carlton, Mantle, Seaver and Ryan !! Nothing but GOAT'S in that buy !! What a great deal you got too. That Ryan rookie is a beauty !! I know soooo many people that were looking for the Clemente at the show !! Fantastic card !! That Mays is sick !! I just love seeing the amazing pickups that you got. Such amazing cards and they are so beautiful !! I knew you would be getting some epic vintage cards and you did not let down. Hope you are having a blast there and I cannot wait to see what else you get. Thanks for sharing !!
Thank you Lisa. It was overwhelming at times. Also, the heat in the building was overwhelming. A lot of water was consumed. Many breaks needed to be taken. I'm glad that I was able to deliver as much content as I could for everyone. I'm glad you appreciate the cards and I look forward to sharing more in the future!
I'm so surprised to see Catfish Hunter rookie card pick up! I've thought about buying his rookie card, too. I know he's a World Series Champion, with the A's and Yankees as well, but assumed he was forgotten about or obscure, and ended up getting a Jim Palmer RC instead. I'm a Baltimore Orioles fan. But, really nice card! Catfish had some great years. His career ended somewhat abruptly (few years older than Koufax) due to arm issues, then he got ALS, later in life. Sadly passed away in his early 50's.
Such a horrible way to pass away. I really like his rookie card a lot. I tend to gravitate towards cards that have really nice color and design. I regret selling the one I had and getting one for $60 was definitely worth it. Very cool that you picked up a Jim Palmer RC. Did you find one that was centered well?
Prices sticker prices look a little inflated, but I guess it cost nothing to look. The discounts make them good. Nice Ryan for that price. NICE 52 Mays! 😁😁
They were. I would say that there were a select number of dealers who had cards at comps or a little lower actually. I tended to focus only on those tables primarily for my purchases.
Yeah if that Carlton is clean you'll do pretty well. Been trying to pick one up for auto. Really you just had to rub a Ryan rc in my face lol. That Clemente is beautiful. Very nice Mays. Great additions Sammy.
Thanks Doug. I couldn't resist with the price I was offered for that Ryan. I didn't see it go for less than $500 on any other table. I appreciate your comments and how enthusiastic you are. True love for the hobby man. Thank you!
Hi Sammy, loved the footage, shows me what I'm missing out on this year. Love the raw Yaz and Carlton rookies. Congrats on getting a number not a letter on the Clemente and Mays. Both good looking card. Have a great day tomorrow.
Thank you so much! I'm honestly glad that I'm going home tomorrow. Any more time spent would be over the edge for me. That said, it was a great experience. The heat in the building was a bit too much, but buying some grail cards, made it totally worth it.
Great video because you show us the cards. Way to many videos where the content maker wants to be the star. Can' your next video include the table with signed vintage?
I appreciate the feedback. Thank you. I wish I could have read this sooner. Sadly, I could not get the footage of autos, but I will definitely record that at the East Coast National in a few weeks!
That was so cool to see me in at the show. I was the overweight, white guy who smelled like he just popped out of a dumpster. Sorry, that describes 99% of the people at the show……no air conditioning wasn’t helping, either!!!
I thought of you when I saw the non-sports packs. I figured you'd have a field day at those tables. There are a couple of guys who picked up a Bowman 48. Mangini and I believe John (Wade Boggs Fan)
How was the line at SGC? I'm only going to be at the show 1.5 days and don't want to spend too much time in line. I remember one year seeing a PSA grading line that was crazy long.
Sorry for the out of focus. I was wearing a chest mounted camera, so at times, it was a bit challenging to get cards in focus. You're right though, the display cases where there are over 200 Mantles all laid out like that. Very striking!

At 7:37 the 1952 Mantle for $100k graded a 4 - no way that should be a 4, OC bottom right corner is gone.
