DUBRO 101: How to Install a Hatch Latch

How did you do the hidden hinges on the hatch?

This hinges are not hard but take some forethought. I positioned them where I wanted them located and made marks on the fuselage and the door. The skin was removed from the fuselage where the hinges would be located and the hinges were glued in place. I added back a piece of balsa and then sanded it flush with the rest of the skin.
Pause this video at 4:41. Looking carefully at the hinge line, you can see where I beveled the skin and the door alternately between the hinges. Try to do this before gluing the door to the hinges. Once you have the door glued onto the hinges you can sand the door flush to the fuselage and the shape of the door to trim out the opening where needed. If you need additional clearance on the the bevels of the hinge line I'd suggest a cheap nail file, as slim as you can find, or glue some sanpaper onto a sliver of an old credit card to push in and make more room for the pivot motion.
