While I was in, we were constantly reminded never to make any social media posts whatsoever while in uniform, and that we should still be extremely careful with what we post out of uniform. I always just went about not making any social media posts that weren't anonymous.

As a 20 year vet and former Australian navy chief (E8 in US military terms), If she was one of my subordinates she'd be referred up the chain, probably busted back, and possibly discharged. If the military needs to be deployed wholesale in the country there probably would be civil war going on where a large portion of citizens are united against the current government. And I was calling my civilian supply liasion to to hurry and proccess some gear becauae POTS went down and I couldn't even leave the pier in the uniform I was wearing to go smoke.

Colonel a few weeks ago that was speaking out of turn in uniform about “demanding accountability” to his civilian and or military leadership? My general stance I agree with you that in either case I don’t believe they should be on any social media platform saying most of the stuff they did, be it political or otherwise. But, I’m just checking in to make sure you are not being biased or hypocritical. In both cases be this example from a NCO or the commissioned career officer, some of this factors in the generation they are in, and unfortunately it’s either hurt their careers or not ended them. In my opinion though, I believe what the Marine LTC did was far worse.

My general stance I agree with you that in either case I don’t believe they should be on any social media platform saying most of the stuff they did, be it political or otherwise. But, I’m just checking in to make sure you are not being biased or hypocritical. In both cases be this example from a NCO or the commissioned career officer, some of this factors in the generation they are in, and unfortunately it’s either hurt their careers or not ended them. In my opinion though, I believe what the Marine LTC did was far worse.

Trying to make changes is a good way to sabotage one's own career. I would have loved to martyr myself for the cause, except no, I wouldn't. When top leadership has an axe to grind, there's no changing that from the lower ranks, so the best move is self-preservation.
