From another shy kid, brimming with imagination and with some hefty barriers between the inner & outer worlds: Thank You for staying the course and for inspiring and empowering so many of us to find it within to do the same for ourselves. ❤ ॐ
Through the imagination we can create a new art that we can make it real cause art brimming with a imagination and heavy barriers the inner and outer world.WE ARE ALL CREATOR.
I woke up today on New Years Eve and thought what do I want to do today? Go out dancing, etc? No, I want to paint, to create! I remembered Soul Art and found this great inspiring talk. I love the paints on the dress. Genius. Thank you!
What a brilliant art show - interviewing all kinds of creativity - and what would you really like to create - Imagination - and creation of new realities - how can I make my Imagination so Real - deciding and activating what you really want - we are on the path of creating a new World - where we are all creators
Same, I have been struggling with the place of art all my life and had exactly the same thoughts that the next step for art now is that each of us start creating our reality with vibration
Laura, This was awesome. I loved your talk. On May 11th, 2016, during "Soul Art Day" you said your studio was in Canada... and I thought to myself, that means, Maybe I can meet her in person one day! And then here in this talk, you described the experience about the voice from the radio and you did meet him... well, we'll see... hopefully someday, the universe will help us cross paths. And I've been living in my own world since I was born... I don't often handle the "real world" too well. and I am constantly daydreaming about elaborate creations..... but then get stifled and don't tend to ever manifest those ideas.... mostly for lack of space, materials, help, money, and etc....
i wanna type so much more 'cause I love this, but i've just sat in this comment box and imagined myself into fractal pterodactyls..... so.., THANK YOU! it's very nice to fluke into you. it was destined though...after all..we are the luckiest people to have ever lived, being present with our time we see it all as one great gift!
Metaphysical thanks for sharing! Love your body art approach! The dress was so subtle and your hair was super fab fun! Love! ~ Psychic Suesie and the Universe
she truly doesn't say much...the little fragments of important's she speaks off she prolongs for 17 minutes. Ira Glass in The Gap truly hits all the right notes in this video. Please if any person watched this go see this and find that in just 2 minutes he resumes all this in better words and doesn't talk about himself but about the journey of alining one's ideas with real life. vimeo.com/85040589
I definitely agree that everyone should try to create their own art, regardless of whether it ends up at well known establishments or even if they get any money or recognition off of it at all, since all of art is ultimately subjective as to what is truly "good" or worth preserving. But I think this has always been the heart of the problem with the establishment art world: the vast majority of artists in every medium come from at least middle class backgrounds with the free time, financial support, and connections to be able to work creatively full-time and make a name and living for themselves.
sizzlenotsteak Well I eat, sleep and breath art and I was that much more disappointed because I (foolishly) thought I might get some practical advise. I (and now my children) also suffer from acne. So I was doubley disappointed at this utter waste of 15 minutes of my life.
I had to watch the whole thing again to see if it was something with which I agreed or not. Turns out I do agree. I heard practical advice, the sorts of advice which have worked for me in the past (think: The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron sorts of stuff). Guess it wasn't what you were looking for, yah. There's value in going inside to see what you're really about, even if it makes you angry, or makes you feel like you've wasted the precious moments of your life. Thanks for responding.
+John Milton Aye, I understand. but you must be aware that we all think, see, absorb, incorporate and are unimaginably and imeasuably ever so subtly unique. I appreciate this for it's 'nonsense" I understand the limits of language and definition and the perception of communal--universal consciousness and understanding. And the strenghts of being this myself. There are no lies here. misconception pehaps but with a very very concrete and grounded understanding of herself as us. it is
I really like the idea of walking through the illusory "lie" to get to the other side of the creative process! Very inspiring!

this talk was ahead of it’s time in a way, if she were to have given it today i feel like more people would be able to relate

wow she is ephemeral, what is within her glows and radiates through her and out into the world. that is all of our purposes, to glow, shine.
I love, love this perspective!! Thank-you.
Awesome! I didn't know there was a TEDx Hamilton! I'd love to connect with Laura at some time~
My son talked about having a magic crayon that could create anything~ Whatever he drew, would come to life right before his eyes~

She could simply stand there in silence and speak volumes.
Great video!!!
IMAGINATION = ART = MATERIALIZATION = HAPPINESS :)
There is a powerful message here. I really enjoyed listening to this talk.

I totally understand this :) and love it

what kind of Award-Winning Artist is she?
The Art called Laura Hollick.
I watch hundreds of TED talks and God, I hate the vague, ineffectual ones.
Your hate blinds you to the effect that is there for all with eyes to see.
Does anyone feel like playing with colored powder now?
did she just use 16 minutes to say "Don't give up on your dreams"? /s
It's the song of songs.
I dunno kinda just feels like she got lucky and basically handed a career magically
M an Architect but from my childhood I want to b a artist.. ..still m thinking abt dis, m nt happy with architecture
Maybe I’m getting old but this videos is extremely confusing!
Use your imagination.
What's with the fireworks sfx?
so what came of the relationship with that guy she stalked? also it seems like she lucked into things, not very relatable to me
Hillary ?
