Fun fact: TH-cam supressed/limited the song Su*cide (which is why it is spelled censored so he could get it out to everyone), and this song wasn't. Ren made a big point about the hypocracy of censoring one that is anti-, and not the one that is "pro-"

"Seven Sins," "wicked ways," and "Genesis" are also songs I think you will dig. Would also like to see you react to Chinchilla's "Fingers (live)" please
So….Ive heard this song more than a few times and I’ve watched many reactions to it. But tonight I’m here at a Mexican restaurant drinking Margaritas after a long 12 hr day of day 30 something of a shutdown and laughing my arsss off at the facial expressions of this reaction to a silent screen. By far my favorite reaction to this REN classic. Now with just one request to this reactor that I find so animated with her expressions, please do the live performance of this song so I can watch you be blown away just like i was!
This song really underlines the issues with how we discuss and/or censor specific topics. Ren has mentioned how frustrating that he could put this out, openly discussing literal murder, with no censorship, but his song Suicide carries a warning and is restricted by youtube, only allowing adults who are logged in to view it. Social Media is getting these things so wrong and not helping.
Also: really hope you took time to listen to "For Joe". It really is an important follow-up to Su*cide, and legitimately helped take the narrative to a more of a healing place.
Given some of the subjects you touch on in this reaction, I recommend you take a look at the Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version)... You'll see a lot more of Ren's range and artistry, but be prepared for a long (and traumatic) one though
@@HeartSupport two words... that's all it took to staple my a** to this chair and glue my eyes to the screen! hahaha I am so eager to see your take on it. Also, this leads me to think you've already done it (and it's probably in edit) so .... *big hugs* too... way to go champ...
Ren is one of the least violent people you'll meet. During the last year while he was rolling out his hip-hop SICK BOI album, he covered just about every style of rap extant, including Flex Rap and Gangster Rap, both of which are incorporated in MURDERER. He even managed to get himself into a rap battle just so he could show he's capable of doing every style of hip hop to the highest degree. His diss track, DUMB KING COME, is WELL worth analyzing, but this one is pretty simple. He's just showing he can be a gangster and a flexer with the best of them, and he CAN.
What's awesome is that King Dotta is now doing reactions and he has been reacting to Ren's catalogue...so far he loves Ren! I've really come to enjoy his channel and I'm soooo glad that Ren shared his rising tide!
I think that, therapeutically speaking, you'd get a massive kick out of Chalk Outlines with Ren and Chinchilla. The live version is the best one. It's sublime! Plenty for a therapist to talk about 😉 Also their "How to be me" collab, and Chinchilla's fingers. I'm loving your angle on music reactions. Thank you.
The hook 'Murderer' is actually from a Barrington Levy Reggae track, 'Tell them a ready' and Ren built the song around that. Ren has actually done a song regarding domestic violence, it is one of the tracks in "The tale of Jenny & Screech - Official video" trilogy I am glad you are venturing further down the Ren rabbit hole. I have enjoyed your reaction videos to them.
Tell me honestly that when you saw him walk up to that bag you didn't internally think "Oh, my!" Dude's a stud! BTW, the sheer thing you're wearing under the zippy is very cute.
I think you will have a field day as a therepist with Ren ’Lost All Faith’ Here for these Ren reaction for sure. Always interesting hearing things from other angles.
Nothing heavy in this one! 😂😂😂 Ren has a bunch more that would be more…substantive. Chalk Outlines. How to be Me. Insomnia. Depression. Crutch. Patience. Money Game 3. Power. Genesis. But it’s good to see him just have fun once in a while.
SERIOUSLY....I think it's time for you to do the Jenny, Screech and Violet videos....I think you would have a field day with the story telling of it. That is the reaction I am waiting for if you do!!!
When rappers think another rapper is talented often they call them in sportsmanlike spirit, "a threat". I believe this song is merely Ren flexing himself as a formidable rapper within that culture, not literally advocating violence lol🎉
I've watched all of your Ren reactions and I have loved them all. Nothing better than watching a reactor slowly falling in love with Ren! Don't worry, we have all been there! lol
Who else but Ren does songs called Murderer, and Suicide, and puts such a catchy beat on them? I find myself humming and singing out loud in public....-murderer-; or -suicide suicide suicide-. Thanks Ren
Ren keeps things %100 real and makes you think hard about the meaning behind things, he's an absolute genius who weaves a story with amazing music to paint a picture, hopefully to take something positive from the darkness.
Part of rens psychosis was he used to see people in animal masks, he discussed it when he was taking about his track animal flow. He also mentioned how he connected with George Orwell's Animal Farm through his own episodes.
Really like your approach and enthusiasm to Rens music. The beautiful thing about Ren is that he will always keep you interested the more you dive into his past and present music.
that's why I like that the line in Sick Boi that says "essentially your mind is making you sick" also kind of sounds like "essentially you mind is making music"

You did an excellent job of understanding the FLEX of this piece. Flex is a part of protection. That's one of his best friends in the trunk. Wondering if you have watched Jenny & Screech?
You have to remember Ren is a student of the Rap, and Hip Hop game. Ren us a true MC. He is saying he is at the top of the game right now. These other so called rapper's, or MC's are not even on the same level, let a lone above where Ren is. He is a Murderer of the beat, the lyrics, and the flows. He is also, a Murderer of any artist who wants to try to step up and flex on Ren. He won't only beat them at this game, he will straight murder them. They can't even touch him, let alone beat him.
A while back on Instagram, Ren posted a clip of an interview with Quentin Tarantino: Interviewer: Why do you make films that are so graphic and violent? QT: Because it's fun!

I like this take on the idea of violence and self preservation. Often times, especially with men, all thoughts of offering help to the offender of domestic violence are squelched. Perpetrators of domestic abuse are flagged as being beyond help by society, unredeemable. In a past relationship I was subject to relentless verbal abuse by my partner and much to my shame I lashed out a few times and struck them. When we separated I had to reconcile with my weakness in order to move forward and not wallow in guilt. I learned that when I embraced my weaknesses, violence stopped. By learning to love myself for everything, good and bad, I relinquished all triggers towards violent tendencies. Ego and pride are the biggest obstacles I had to face during this process, but overcoming those have brought me into a place of internal peace. I no longer feel violent impulses towards people, though there are many things that make me angry. Now when faced with things that anger me or make me feel uncomfortable or attacked, I instead feel the impulse to explore the whys and whats of the situation. Instead of rejecting my own pain I embrace it and turn it into empathy and curiosity. I seek to understand those who oppose me and to learn from them. "And I must not forget, we must not forget, that we are human beings." Abusive people can be reformed when they are seen as victims and treated as humans, when they are taught to practice vulnerability and self-love. Walk blessed my humans.
Ive has a hard time dealing with mental trauma the past few weeks, your videos move me so much and really make me think about what i really should be thinking and doing> Plus Ren is freaking amazing, Hi Ren makes me still cry sometimes
Rens neurotic versatility is the definition of creative expression. Just because others interpret words differently that's a reflection of your own truth. I love this song to me and it speaks to me not about murdering people but murdering the negative tethers that hold you down in life so you can grow.... I relate this song to Cypress Hill Shoot em up Watch the tinydesk concert npr. It casts good reflection towards inverted intentions
The REN rabbit hole has been such an amazing journey. Now that you have listened to Murder you should really checkout the live acoustic version. You will be blown away.
Fun fact, the other guy at the end who was walking by actually called the POLICE about "kidnapping" and the cops told him "Don't worry mate, it's just REN" 😂😂
I haven’t listened to ren talk about the pig mask but I get the feeling that it represents the fans. Or people who find his music who may or may not be fans
If you want to see two powerful pieces of art by Ren, Penitence and Crutch are breathtakingly haunting and beautiful at the same time. Other suggestions are great too. Getting messages out through music is such a powerful tool.
The live version of this amazing track is different enough to really enjoy, it.s acoustic. This is Ren just having fun and showing his skills. Chalk Outlines Live is OUT OF THIS WORLD. And like many others have mentioned the Full Trilogy in one go of " The Tales of Jenny and Screech " is Ren reminding us of the world we within, and not the Sunnyside! Loving your channel.
I love this channel. I've learned a lot about myself. Violence is also used as pleause. If I'm not mistaken, only human beings do that. I know firsthand. The men that tortured me, loved every minute of it, until I got free. I could smell it. When the Fight, Freeze, or Fight resopnse kicks in, I never freeze or flee. Not anymore.
I am no stranger to my pain. Murderous thoughts generally come to me when confronted with vast inequality and destruction of resources. I feel that I want to defend humanity and life on Earth from that callous greed. But that is not how it works. The most effective way for me to defend what is sacred, is to heal myself, leaving less room in society for them to stay unhealed themselves. Here's to everyone's individual healing journey💖
Ren has quite a few "brag rap" songs where he is really just talking about his skills. His ability to create double meanings and dark imagery is impressive. He's just having a laugh on this one.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on "reaction formation" in the cycle of violence -- domestic or otherwise, as I think Ren's point is pointed at societal oppression and the cycle of violence that arises from domination culture. In my case, I grew up in an alcoholic home where one of my parents, I've come to understand recently, probably had an undiagnosed Cluster B personality disorder as well. The intense belief conditioned in me as a kid was that anger was in no way allowed, so I bottled it up for decades (I'm 60 now) even after I recognized it was there -- rupture without repair that I carried into adult life. Understandably, it was there, just directed internally through frequent su*c*dal ideation. Ren's body of work, dealing as it does with expressing rage and violence (inward/outward), AND with dropping the facade in order to heal, safely, through musical storytelling, vulnerably, in public view, has been pivotal for in the process of healing my own C-PTSD. This song in particular, where he breaks the 4th wall with "I don't mean metaphorically, lyrical bullets, I mean actually fucking kill em, squeeze the trigger and pull it", allowed me to get in touch with my own inner murderer intimately, and, to let it relax, having taken it seriously for the first time. I needed permission to recognize, accept and express that yes, I can get THAT angry, it's in me, too. That it doesn't help to keep playing the victim, OR to lash out in actual violence, but that getting in touch with that rage, knowing that I could be a "murderer" is a very important signal that a rupture in me is being touched and needs to be protected and cared for. Ren's willingness to be this raw and vulnerable in his art has allowed me to do the same, therapeutically and creatively. To do the kind of shadow work I've needed to do for a long time.
That's an awesome experience! Thanks for sharing that, I didn't know it could work like that. Fascinating, and I'm proud of you for getting those insights about yourself.
@@Irmelinis I didn't know it could work like that either, myself! My ongoing therapy work using the Internal Family Systems model @InternalFamilySystems set the stage, and then me, going down the Ren rabbit-hole, opened up the rest. There's a potentially violent part in me (in each of us?) that needs to be recognized, understood and accepted, most of all, by my-Self. Ren's a great fit with IFS, since he embodies/channels parts of himself in the roles he plays in his music, unfiltered.
Hey! I’ve just discovered ur channel cos I love watching Reaction vids to Ren’s Hi Ren cos they remind me I’m not alone. I’m a big but lazy fan of his so I know bits but not obsessed amounts… It makes me so glad every time new people find his music - because additionally to the obvious reasons in the reference it’s at least one inverse curve on a positively trajectory on a chart representing “something positive for once” (smiley) against so many other ‘charts’ we are bombarded with that seem-to-tend-to-be trending consistently in negative directions. (sad face) Anyway… re. this video - I’ve got one observation to share while this is still reasonably fresh… Idk if this is right or not and I understand how it might be missed and I recognise your profession and the mind-frame going in so I’m not being viscous at all and I completely get how when I say there might be something you missed…. I think you may have made an understandable incorrect assumption of this pieces narrative point of view? Unlike Hi Ren or Sick Boi, I don’t think it’s meant to be in first person. Rather, I suspect it’s intended, in part, as a Call-for-Awareness of Crisis to the socio-political issues of on the streets of old blue-collar cities and similar low-income areas across England… What they can get drawn into… How they are “expected to behave”… bravado, status, respect, etc. It’s a Day in the Life piece, following a blow-hard who feels like he must do what he must for “CRED”, Ren is a master at subtle suggestion and inference, this is highlighted when we jumps in the car - watch closely how he acts, body language, etc. as he turns to talk to YOU, (who) in the backseat on this “Ride Along”… He is speaking directly to those young boys who might find themselves in very similar situations… You can tell he’s uncertain, he changes, from the confidence at the boxing bag to the “I’m doing this even though I don’t really want to” vibe he attempts to veil to “His Boys”
Think you’d really appreciate his duets with Chinchilla. In particular How to Be Me and Chalk Outlines. Also the trilogy of the tale of Jenny and screech (and violet). Sure you’re familiar with twenty one pilots but if not, Car Radio and Migraine would be good ones to start with
Ren said This song is a prequel to animal flow in the sense the victim taken appears in the beginning of animal flow but they ended up releasing Animal Flow first.
If and when you do the trilogy. Afterwards, for yourself, check the 360 version where he plays it for a crowd live as he talks about what he was thinking and meaning when he wrote it. Inspiring
Chalk outlines and how to be me LIVE f’ed me up!!!! He thought it was interesting he couldn’t straight up spell out suicide but murderer was fine he was like hmmm? lol! He’s AMAZING!! You should check out the acoustic version of this song it’s BEAUTIFULLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!
The guy they put in the boot/hood is the guy that is tied up with his hands above his head in Animal flow, hint hint love to hear your take on this multi dimensional piece.
You should do the tale of Jenny and screech full next. (trilogy of 3 songs) it's Shakespeare level tragedy I think u may love. I'm glad you are seeing the depth of Ren's talent. And exploring his rap and singing as well.
I do wonder if he heard the original or because he was into dnb and other dance music he heard it when the chemical brothers (he said he was into the prodigy so wouldn't be a stretch to assume he was into the chemical brothers) and a few other dance producers sampled it back in the day.
@@lewisb85 glad for the opportunity for some actual polite conversation out here. I would definitely bet on the fact that he’s heard the original. You’ve seen his I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop video right? He seems to have a huge appreciation for reggae and a bunch of his music sounds like it has reggae/ska influence. I think you definitely bring up a valid point that a lot of people out there have only heard some classic songs in snippet form because they’re sampled in remixes/dnb/edm/etc but I (personally) don’t think that Ren’s one of them. I kinda feel like he’s the type of musician who, if he heard a vocal he really liked, would go and find the original and give it a listen. But I don’t know the guy and can only make assumptions so for all I’m just some jackass out here being confidently wrong lol. Hope you have a great day
I’d recommend any song by Underoath, but more specifically ihateit or My Deteriorating Incline. These two (and a lot of there other music) is about the vocalist’s experience with drug addiction and he has a great way of expression his feelings
Fun fact: TH-cam supressed/limited the song Su*cide (which is why it is spelled censored so he could get it out to everyone), and this song wasn't. Ren made a big point about the hypocracy of censoring one that is anti-, and not the one that is "pro-"

Harnessing violence as a shild within us is what the Army trained me to do
I think someone likes Ren boxing with his shirt off lol Not naming names but they sit at the top of our screens!!! 😁😁
Awesome reaction and insights!
(sad face)
Anyway… re. this video - I’ve got one observation to share while this is still reasonably fresh…
Idk if this is right or not and I understand how it might be missed and I recognise your profession and the mind-frame going in so I’m not being viscous at all and I completely get how when I say there might be something you missed….
It’s a Day in the Life piece, following a blow-hard who feels like he must do what he must for “CRED”, Ren is a master at subtle suggestion and inference, this is highlighted when we jumps in the car - watch closely how he acts, body language, etc. as he turns to talk to YOU, (who) in the backseat on this “Ride Along”… He is speaking directly to those young boys who might find themselves in very similar situations…
You can tell he’s uncertain, he changes, from the confidence at the boxing bag to the “I’m doing this even though I don’t really want to” vibe he attempts to veil to “His Boys”
Think you’d really appreciate his duets with Chinchilla. In particular How to Be Me and Chalk Outlines. Also the trilogy of the tale of Jenny and screech (and violet).
Sure you’re familiar with twenty one pilots but if not, Car Radio and Migraine would be good ones to start with
This is my favorite hype song. Like, if I need to put on my big boy pants and take care of business, this is going on.
Would love to see you react to his 1M subs thank you video. It think it reveals a lot about who REN is.
Ren said This song is a prequel to animal flow in the sense the victim taken appears in the beginning of animal flow but they ended up releasing Animal Flow first.
The “Murderer” is killing the competition. Hence lyrical bullets.
If and when you do the trilogy. Afterwards, for yourself, check the 360 version where he plays it for a crowd live as he talks about what he was thinking and meaning when he wrote it. Inspiring
we are really working through these and it is quite the process. Discussing and understanding the story being told. We will check out that video.
Speaking of violence... looking forward to see you react to the three tales.
i love the ren journey!
You should do the tale of Jenny and screech full next. (trilogy of 3 songs) it's Shakespeare level tragedy I think u may love.
I'm glad you are seeing the depth of Ren's talent. And exploring his rap and singing as well.
love your channel and welcome to the Ren rabbit hole..Please do the Tales of Jenny, Screech and Violet full version.
The “Murdererrrrrr” part of the hook (and perhaps the chord progression itself) in the song is inspired by the song “Murderer” by Barrington Levy
Hope you have a great day
i just love the irony of this song.
Am I the only 1 to notice when he opens the bottle it's right on time when he says 'breathe' and inhales?
Ren gives me tremendous strength
Omg you really need to watch Ren's Jenny and Screech trilogy. It's long but I'd love to see the reaction to that. Also chalk outlines.
I’d recommend any song by Underoath, but more specifically ihateit or My Deteriorating Incline. These two (and a lot of there other music) is about the vocalist’s experience with drug addiction and he has a great way of expression his feelings
