  • I was working at the Cabot Guns and ACW Booth all of SHOT show but was able to tear myself away to see 3 new products that I was really curious to check out.
    1. Oracle Arms 2311
    2. Beretta 80x Cheetah
    (There is conflicting info on the decocker vs cocked and locked safety… I’m just going on the info the rep gave me)
    3. Holosun DMS Thermal/IR holographic sight
    Here are my thoughts after handling them for 4 minutes a piece on my lunch break.

    I like the Rock Island Arms 5.0 new model hammer fired pistol. 7 years and more in development and finally here. Made in America and coming in close to $1000.

    The 13rd mag on the 80X is flush fit, not extended. The 10rd mags are for ban states. The reason why it is in .380 is because it is a blowback pistol that was designed to run either .380 or .32ACP. It is an existing design that they updated, just like they did with the M9A3 and the 92X series. If you want something like that in 9mm, look at the 92X Compact. 15rds of 9mm, optics ready with a 4.25" barrel and a short grip.

    • @defconcreative
      @defconcreative  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm just going off of what the booth dude said.... I had it in my hands for 4 minutes. 4.25" barrel gets you into staccato size territory so I'd jump over to a 2011 at that point. BUT i am coming back around to my 92fs..... everything is cyclical.

      @@defconcreative Staccatos are nice, but I am of the poors, so the 92X compact is more in my price range.

      @gutblaster187 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@defconcreative I'm betting the booth dude was ignorant of his own product (there are several TH-cam examples of this) since the legacy 84BB was 13 rounds flush and the 80X is of nearly the same dimensions precisely.
      The Staccato CS is over half an inch taller, slighly longer and all around more bulky. I doubt that the Staccato CS and 80X are competing for the same market segment.

  • @JP-gw3bk
    @JP-gw3bk ปีที่แล้ว +5

    If you want a 9 get a 92x. The 80x is not for you tactical guys. Its for your wife's, for new shooters who are recoil timid but still need a gun. Beretta is marking this toward the m&p ez crowd of woman and new shooters. Not everyone wants a small pocket rocket thats hard to shoot for new ppl. And if more good guns are coming out in 380 that ppl will actually shoot will eventually drive price down for 380 too

      "us tactical guys"

    • @gutblaster187
      @gutblaster187 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is obviously true from the Beretta website. Apparently such a market is there as evidenced by the SIG P-365 380 Rose. The tactical guys think they're the only market for handguns. They're a slim minority at every range I've been to (when even present).

    • @gutblaster187
      @gutblaster187 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@defconcreative There definitely is a tactical subculture. Nothing wrong with it, though there are gun owners outside of it who approach firearms differently. I mean the old lady next door probably doesn't want much to do with anything called "DEFCON", but she may very well keep a firearm for home defense.

      @@jvz1448 Because it is a blowback pistol that was designed for .380 and .32ACP and it is based on the existing Beretta 80 series, something that has been around going on 50 years. Why make it in 9mm when they already have the 92X Compact?

    • @jvz1448
      @jvz1448 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DarkPhoenixTSi The 92x compact is much larger. The 80x actually feels like a compact gun, and most people would feel more comfortable carrying 9mm over .380. I mean I get why they did it in a way but they could have really had something that would fly off the shelves in 9mm. I’m still getting one but yeah 9mm would have been better

    • @DarkPhoenixTSi
      @DarkPhoenixTSi ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jvz1448 I have big hands, so even a 92 feels like a compact in my hands. For Beretta, it is easier and cheaper to use an existing design, considering the resurgence of .380 has a carry caliber. They would need to start with a complete redesign of the 92 to scale it down to the size of an 80 due to the restrictions of direct blowback. Rather than making something like that, I think they can do an update to the PX4 line to fill that itch for a small, high capacity 9mm, without too much work.
