I've have owned about 10 1911s in my life. Learned it during army officers training in 1980. Still have 6 1911s. All in .45. Wore on on my hip during the Rodney King Riots in 1992. Wore one on my hip working my way through law school in a gun shop. I have thermopolymer framed, stroker fired wonderinines, and Browninf High Power, but a 1911 .45 auto in my hand never left me feeling undergunned.
At 14 I learned on my dad's 1911. At 20 I qualified expert pistol in the Navy on a 1911 and that was 50 years ago. All I've ever carried is a 1911 pattern pistol.
I have owned and carried a variety of Colts, Springfields, and one Kimber. All of them have been totally reliable and easy to carry, handle, and shoot. I'll stay with the 1911.
As a FUDD who first carried a 1911 .45acp in the USMC from 76'. As a PD it was a custom 1911. As the years went by and arthritis sent in the .45acp limited my practice. Hence, it's now a Staccato 2011 9mm that I can shoot all day...yep with a Holosun. So now I'm a cool FUDD. Semper Fi ✝️ 🇺🇸
I carried a 1911 for many years. Fanny pack. The trouble is, 1911s tend toward the expensive side. If you are forced to shoot someone the first thing the cops will do is take your gun. Many people have had their guns dissappear in police custody, or had them returned in a disassembled state that not even a gunsmith could get it back together.
So, you buy another one if they take your carry, I have 3 1911's, both in .45 and 10 mm,NOT 9 mm. I am not concerned about losing one. Quit being chintzy about your guns. One gets what one pays for.
I've never understood the philosophy of carrying a cheap gun in case I need to use it and the police take it. If I need to defend my life or my family I want the best pistol possible. If the police take it and I never see it again, then I'll go get another one, but no one is carrying a hi-point just so the police don't take their good guns.
i have carryed a 1911 of one form or another sence i was in viet nam 54 years ago my edc is a tisas commander lightweight in 45acp im old so i use iron sights just easer for me keep up the good work
You put forth very good points. I've tried a best selling striker fired handgun and I've tried a bargain priced 1911 .45. I don't like the striker fired system very much but I absolutely like the 1911 better than anything else I have tried.
@@vincentp9038 My journey was from XDM/XDM Elite, to XDS, to Hellcat/Pro to Ronin1911. I’m rather happy with my Ronins, although I do prefer having my Elites by my bedside.
I, too, am a diesel mechanic, and I find pocket carry to be my go-to. Might not be as good as a full size 9mm, but a 380 in pocket is better than the 9mm left in the toolbox. A full size is extremely uncomfortable when you're rolling around under a truck or laying over an engine. I can easily make hits at the distances I'm working with, so I don't feel undergunned, really.
If you are going to carry a 1911 then this is the way to do it. This actually goes for any pistol. If you carry multiple pistols with a different manual of arms, you are asking for trouble in my opinion. If you carry a G19 a lot but want something smaller on a particular day, then choose a G26. I also recommend that like the example I just gave, you stick with the same manufacturer, whether it’s S&W, Glock, or Sig, and in that same line/model. Personally, I carry S&W J-frame revolvers, just in different barrel lengths and grip sizes, but all have the same sight picture and trigger pull. Consistency is key.
My situation is slightly different. Both my retirement job (working for an FFL) and my career (creating fights for independent films and for the stage) required me to be well-versed in several weapons, as well as unarmed. Sticking with firearms, I had to know enough about various different guns in order to teach actors how to handle specific guns safely and effectively, as well as look like they know what they're doing. I've even owned various models from various manufacturers so I know what I'm doing. But my all-time favorite manufacturer is Springfield Armory. And when it comes to handguns, I prefer the XD/XDM(E)/XDs lines. (Screw the XDE line). I also love SA's 1911's. So much so that those two lines are the guns I consistently carry, with the Ronin 1911 lines being the ones I prefer lately. The one consistency of both lines, which helped me to switch from the XD lines to the 1911's, is the grip safety. I'm so used to having one on my XD's, it was easy to focus on the different manual of arms of the 1911's and make them my own. Which is why I'm carrying them more often these days. Still, when someone comes into the store saying they want another handgun for carry, one of the first questions I ask is what brand of gun do they already have. If they say, for example, a Glock 19, I'll show them a G48 or G43x, first, to keep it all in the family. If they want to venture from Glocks, then it gets interesting...
I feel this. Carry what you shoot the best and what you are the most comfortable with. 1911’s having a grip and thumb safety makes them very safe to carry cocked and locked.
Carry what works best for you. For me it’s a light J Frame b/c my issued revolver saved me three times so I carry one in retirement. Back & hip problems prohibit me from carrying a large, heavy gun.
I was at Academy on the 4th and I’m a vet, so they had a Kimber LW (lightweight) Artic on deep sale with a military discount to boot. It had all the aspects of a 1911 that had been keeping me from carrying one and since these days may require accurate shots beyond 10 yards, I felt the need to start carrying a 1911. I’ve always had several but they were dedicated range/competition Colts and they were too pretty and the rear sight made EDC a no go for me. The Kimber had many FTF issues and I immediately knew it was the extractor, so off she went for warranty. She’s run fine ever since and I’m quite pleased with the light weight aluminum frame. Then I was at Atwood’s and they had an RIA Tac II for 399 with the same features. It’s been 100% reliable. So now I carry a 1911. There are brief periods when I must leave it in the car and I won’t have a total coronary if one of those gets swiped. I do still carry my HK VP9’s and others, but it’s clothing/situational that always dictates what I carry and how. The world at least for me is not straightforward enough for one platform.
I hear ya, I just dealt two Sig P365’s away to daily my Sig C3. Damn nice shooter that weighs less than my Springfield V10 Officers. Thanks for the video. ❤
Good arguments for carrying the 1911. I have carried a 1911 in .45 for years and it is the only handgun I own. I agree with almost everything except the Red Dot. I only put Red Dots on rifles and rely on iron sights for my daily carry 1911. But that's just my opinion, your mileage may vary. Thanks for the video. McKinney is a great town, my brother and his wife along with my Mom live there.
Carry what you are comfortable, confident, and competent with. I’m just glad you’re carrying. Personally I need different guns for different activities, weather/time of year, and different dress, and that also suit my slim/skinny frame.
That's what I learned on and have carried for fifty years in late 60s it's what I am comfortable with i finally broke down and got a Stryker fired pistol but prefer my 1911 carried it for work with 44spl as backup
I like my 1911. Love my steel piece but it is heavy to carry. I have a slightly torn labrum on my strong side so, lighter pieces work best for me. I carry the polymer framed HK VP9 or HK VP9sk 9mms. Love'em! 😎
When the bullets jam like that, just bend your extractor so it’s not gripping the bullets so tight . “1911s have a couple hundred rounds before you break them in” That comes from the extractor pin thing loosening over time. (I’m new to guns so I’m not too familiar with the words). 99% of the issues of the 1911 jamming is just that. You can test it out but putting a live round on it and shaking it a bit. You’ll see that the bullet sits too tight. I bought a ruger sr1911 9mm. I’m dead accurate with it however the bullets kept jamming into the ejection part. I was trying to figure out why, and I found only 2 TH-cam videos that talked about it. I learned how to fix it with those videos. I 100% agree with you about 1911s. I have an sig p320c, and I have shot thousands of rounds just to get somewhat accurate… 1911 was love at first sight. I can hit bullets between the eyes from 15 yards away. 5 inch barrel. 9mm because .45 is outdated and not necessary. It was only $639 and it has an aluminum frame. Perfect
I've just recently purchased my 1st 1911. Sad to say I am 48, and just now getting my first one. Not a Cabot, sadly my wallet couldn't make that happen.lol I now have a springfield ronin in .45. My ronin shoots very well. For the price, it has opened up the world of 1911's for me. One day I hope to have a Cabot, or an alchemy, beautiful firearms. Found your channel through Eli's channel. I have thoroughly enjoyed ya'lls content. A big hello and thanks from east Tennessee!
Prior to getting my 1911, I had carried a smith and wesson m&p 40. It has done me well. I have always liked hammer fire, over striker fired. Thanks for your reply 👍. Have a blessed day
i carry a 1911 also, loaded with Talons, i also carry an old school Walther P-38 with super vel ammo. both are very accurate and i carry two spare mags. my P-38 is a post war police gun. been shooting both for over 40 years....JimP.
I much prefer 1911s for the same reasons you speak of in your video. However, striker-fire polymer platforms are just so much more affordable for the "common man's'" income. It is the price point that generally keeps people away from reliable, highly accurate 1911s - not the platform alone.
@@defconcreative Got that right...love your video btw... I just wish other people would stop telling me to switch to a no manual-safety pistol..I'm not comfortable with it..
Hale good morrow from the middle of nowhere Wyoming, O fellow bourbon Imbiber! Thank you for once again proving why I subscribed to your channel and look forward to your vlogs when they pop up on my feed! You presented an outstanding expository that should never be condemned by any right-thinking person: you didn't condemn anyone else's carry choice, you didn't condemned anyone's caliber choice, you simply provided positive, constructive engaging reasons as to why you have your choice and how that can help others! I'll never be able to afford any of the weapons on your platform that you use, nor any of the $1,000 1911 choices that are around. It'll take me about 5 or 6 months to save up to afford a mid-level Girsan 1911's in 9 mm, which is one of my goals, and another 6 months to save up for that gearson T14 and 380 auto, though at the top of my list is that Kel-Tec 410 gauge bullpup shotgun for home defense. Your primary point concerning caring what you shoot the best with and with which you feel most comfortable when you're out and about is the primary reason everyone should cheer your vlog: personal choice amidst competency in execution of defense. Kudos for yet another excellent vlog! Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central Wyoming
You are a good storyteller. I can tell by your writing. You can write books and make the money for those nice pistols. Never afford should not be in your vocabulary.
Interesting video. Impressed that you carry and conceal such a large piece of hardware regularly. That’s dedication. I don’t have anything so fancy as what you have, but I do have a full-size single stack RIA “M1911A1FS Tactical II” in .45 ACP. If you’re not familiar with this model, it has a fiber optic front sight, fully adjustable two white dot rear sight, extended beavertail, extended ambi thumb safeties, skeletonized hammer and trigger, and G10 grips. It also has a FLGR, which I didn’t necessarily want, but it was part of the overall package that I did want, so what the heck. Got all that for $700 out the door, which I thought was a lot of gun for the money. I’ve had it for two and a half years now. I don’t EDC it but it is often on my hip, OWB under my sport jacket, when I’m on “sheepdog duty” at my synagogue. In this role I definitely appreciate its safety features even when carrying cocked and locked, which I do. Accuracy for me is adequate but not outstanding. I have other handguns I shoot more accurately but I am accurate enough with it for defensive use in that particular environment (it is a small synagogue and I wouldn’t have to shoot farther than 15 yards). Perhaps I should get it to the range more often, though. Reliability? With mine I have found that for about the first 150 rounds after cleaning it, it is extremely reliable, runs like the proverbial sewing machine, and that includes hollow points as well as FMJ. As I approach 200 rounds, it starts to get cranky, with occasional failures to go into battery. Maybe it just needs a little oil at that point, but I just go ahead and clean it every 200 rounds. Of all the handguns I own, it is the biggest pain in the butt to clean. I appreciate the history behind the design and am proud to own it. Is it my favorite handgun? No. But it is a damn good weapon for sure. I’m definitely with you in terms of disdain for the Plastic Fantastics. Apart from the grips, a polymer trigger guard/grip frame on one revolver, and a G10 trigger on one of my autos, all of my handguns are all metal, and except for an aluminum frame on one of the autos, that metal is steel, and all have exposed hammers. If other people like the polymer stuff, good for them, but I won’t own a handgun that feels like a toy, with an abominable squishy trigger. No thanks.
I got tired of lugging one around I have since switched to a glock 17 and now a canik tp9sa mod 2. It's had gobs and gobs of ammo through it and has yet to fail.
I too switched from a compact 9 Tupperware gun back to my Kimber LW. 5", light, reliable (I know 😂), and I'm great with it. Iron sights, no attachments. Somehow, it's even more comfortable, but I carry strong side. I'm not a fudd, it just works for me.
Ultimately I feel it boils down to what you train with the most. Whether it be a 1911, Glock, SIG, Walther, H&k , Beretta. Just make sure it's well made and maintained
Occasionally, when the weather permits the appropriate dress, I’ll carry my 5” Kimber. I’d carry it more often but I have other guns that conceal better and frankly have more capacity. But my Kimber is an accurate, reliable and cherished pistol. It’s all stainless steel with a matte finish. I polished the flats of the slide serrations and a few other parts. Now it looks as good as it shoots. Of all the pistols I own, this one gives me the greatest pride in ownership.
Mil spec Springfield 1911 stainless. Winchester 230gr fmjs. Flush based factory mag in the gun with 2 spare wilson 8s. Always chambered and in the waistband. Keep it simple.
I EDC a Girsan MC1911S. Mag will stack 8, so I could fight 8+1, which might surprise most opponents if they recognized my sidearm. But I’m much more comfortable keeping mine in a 7+1 configuration. I used the term sidearm intentionally to indicate that my 1911 is generally meant to fight my way to my vehicle if needed, in order to retrieve my longarm. That having been said, I’ve put about 500 rounds down range with it and only a handful of FTF early on due to poor ammo choices. I carry whenever I leave the house and sometimes when I am just hanging out at home with the missus. I find the weight of my 1911 comfortable and comforting. I remain proficient at 25 and 50 yds with the 3dot iron sight arrangement. Most of the time, I am open carry IWB (my State considers open carry to be the “grip or more” of a handgun, so, especially in the summer, I make sure my grip is visible. 🤠
Every American should own a 1911. The negative comments about EDC 1911 is usually from folks who have never carried one. They read on a forum everything they know about the 1911. You can tell because they always say the same thing too heavy, unreliable, low capacity etc. etc. If a 1911 is too heavy man up and hit the gym wimp. My Father carried one into his 70s. Low cap. is BS too. Most of you will never fire your gun outside of a range. Sorry but the chances you get into a John Wick or other BS movie shootout in your life is almost zero. Even cheap 1911s are reliable if you clean and lube it like you're supposed to.
@@defconcreative the love the videos that you and the duck do, showing people that there’s a reason tue 1911 platform has been as successful as it has for over 100 years, and it’s progression into the modern day 2011/ DS 1911. I’ve shot everything under the sun, and nothing points more naturally for me than a 1911, even the guns they make now with so-called 1911 style grips/frames. I love my custom 10mm and I tell myself that it’s justified because I live in North Carolina and I have bears, coyotes, and hogs going through my property. The 365 is actually something I think you and Eli would both get a kick out of. I like to call it my striker fired mini Sig-ccato XC 😅 maybe I can send it to you and you guys can shoot the hell out of it and see what you think.
@@defconcreative understandable lol I sucked at shooting it in it’s original configuration too, but now the only thing Sig on the gun is the firing control unit 😅
A 1911 isn’t for everyone due to weight and newbie’s are more familiar with striker fired pistols nowadays. I carry a Glock type pistol 60% of the time, 40% of the time it’s my Tisas or Springfield 45 with 5 inch barrel. I clean and lube carry pistols twice a year using synthetic grease on all moving parts and 80-140 oil for other parts and moving parts. 1911s run like butter after they’re broken in.
Awesome carry guns. I love 1911’s but haven’t carried one yet. I still carry smaller striker guns, I feel that I can shoot them well. One day I’ll get a good holster to carry one of my beautiful 1911’s.
Can't recommend vedder comfort tuck at about 3:30. With no accessories the barrel lines up right along side my wallet. Put that on a nexbelt and you've got comfy full size carry.
Must be nice to carry a 7-10k 1911 not to mention have a choice between 6 of them. I'm not hating😂 I have 6 1911s in my rotation too, they're just not Cabots.
Facts! And I thought I was doing something with my Dan Wesson Specialist 😂. Just picked up the new commander size all black Emissary and may start carrying it once I put it through its paces
My EDC is the 16RD 10MM RIA Tac Ultra HC with Full rail and Dust cover with a threaded barrel and I LOVE It, I'm 63 and have carried 1911's since I was Old enough to carry one.
Great video!! I own a Ruger SR1911 & a Springfield Armory A1 Mil Spec both have been fantastic shooting pistols. I do not currently EDC them but if a person chooses to carry a 1911 then that’s certainly their choice. I subscribe!!!!👍👍
My second time watching this, so I decided to chime in. Why do most people who say that the safety on a 1911 will get you killed, own AR15's with safeties that should be on/off with almost every shot??
I agree…. and have a couple 1911’s…. I like the thumb safety, I’m comfortable with it, AND the grip safety… I even have a 22LR in the 1911 format and have so much fun with it as a practice gun
Good video. I grew up on 1911s starting in 1973. I like some striker fired pistols, but still come back to the 1911. My take is similar to yours for CCW criteria. 1. Intended purpose 2. Reliability. 3. Ergonomics 4. Proficiency. While I am comfortable with only a thumb safety, I prefer also having the backstrap safety.
Used to have a Glock 19, my service pistol was the M9. I’ve shot many other pistols but o think from now on I will for the most part only own 1911 pistols and edc is 1911! I got a government Springfield and a pocket Kimber. Love how light my Kimber is and fits nicely in pocket!
When I was only shooting them at the range, I was so much better with the 19/2011s that I spent 7 months drilling that safety off draw so I could carry them. My EDC is a Wilson Combat EDCX9 or the SFT9. I will say, when on a trip to the beach, I switch to my HK USP LEM in 9mm because very tight tolerances and beach sand/salt don't go well together.
I dont have an issue with your choice but using a heavily modified glock 19 as a benchmark for striker-fired handgun reliability is a rather silly thing to do in my opinion
As a 1911edc kimber lw 5 in 45.Cost is very conservative imo .If for some reason 7-8 rds is too limiting,Improve your Skills! Increased capacity does not counter skill.
I have two cars for going to fast food restaurants, one for when it snows and another for the rest of the time. I have a car for going to regular retail stores, and another car for going to thrift stores. Of course I have my work car. I have another car for going fishing, and I have a truck for when I want to tow my boat when I go fishing. Lastly, I also have my range car for going to the shooting range. I'm sure you can understand my system.
THANK YOU FOR A GOOD ANALYSIS. I SHARE YOUR ENTHUSIASM FOR THE 1911. HOWEVER IF YOU HAVE EVER SEEN A POTENTIAL TRAGEDY AVERTED BY A GRIP SAFETY YOU WILL REALIZE HOW WISE IT WAS TO INCLUDE IT! THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I BELIEVE THAT THE 1911 IS THE SAFEST.
Cool carry guns! First time I've seen your channel, but that's about $20,000 worth of 1911s, on a conservative estimate. Nice. I hope to one day be able to look at that without wondering what organ I'd have to sell to be able to afford it lol For now, I stick with Glock 19s because they're afforadable and I'm proficent with them. I have to work a bit harder to get there than with a nicely tuned 1911, but I'll get there.
I absolutely love the looks of 1911’s and the design features… but which how my hand is, honestly it’s uncomfortable to hold and if it’s uncomfortable I don’t shoot it so I just stick with striker fired. Only hammer fired I’ve shot and liked so far if the p226. Mad respect to anyone carrying a 1911, and even more so to the boomers with revolvers. I’m gonna stick with plastic though.
The first weapon I was issued in the military as a medic in 1985 was a Springfield 1911… that was what I carried in civilian life also. When the military changed to the Beretta 92 (M-9) I became very familiar with its weaknesses… and strong points… as years passed I bought a Taurus 92 series because of its cross over features of the two… yet remaining fully aware of it’s shortcomings also… “BUT!” I still carry a Springfield 1911 because of its proven reliability and stopping power even though it has a lower capacity, it’s heavier, but is thinner and easier to conceal carry… as long as the world doesn’t fall apart and I don’t have to be concerned with aggressive bands of roaming gangs of thugs… at that point I may be forced to carry a larger capacity… 3 mags with 7 rounds of “.45 ACP” = 21… or 3 mags with 15 rounds of 9mm = “45”… I see it as that either way, I’m carrying 45 😎👍
What i love about the .45acp 1911 is the brute firepower it has. If you want to stop a thief cold this gun will definitely do it. I love the Colt Gold Cup and the FNX .45 ACP has 15 round magazine capacity. The hollow point ammunition is awesome. A Colt Defender is a great concealable weapon that will give you protection at a affordable price. Ruger also makes a goid 1911 as well. Wilson Combat is another onethat performs well.
@@defconcreative I just got a vtg excellent condition blued ring hammer which Im considering dropping in on my Match 1911 with LPA sights and vtg 80s Pachmayr grips. I already did an arched Ed Brown MSH, with vertical serrations, and Ed Brown extended oversized magazine catch release button to make magazine changes faster and easier. I have long fingers, so the Pachmayrs and the arched MSH help take up the slack in my grip and give me a better positioning on the trigger, but I want a swift and easy access to the magazine catch button. Shes coming along! Its got a satin parkerized finish, at present. The action's so tight it pops when I pull the slide back. Its in 45, of course. The front sight is a red fiber optic one.
The advantage of the 1911 is a narrow single stack grip that fits a lot of hands. The disadvantage of a 1911 is a single stack mag. As an aside, Tisas makes some nice reasonably priced 1911s.
The reason i don't carry a 1911: 1)Weight 2)Limited Capacity 3)Price 4) reliability- extra maintenance But i do really think their cool and i really like the design.
All ur points are valid, but i disagree with the high maintenance. U just gotta clean the feed ramp n chamber every so often. If u have a good extractor like a wilson and a good wilson recoil spring theres not much that can break. Very few parts on 1911s and even fewer springs than most models of firearms. And springs usually wear out first. Stay safe.
training in every possible scenario you can, what you carry is what you can afford to carry, its not the round or the whatever you carry its the marksmanship. Retired USDM, 26-years, my service carry Colt 1911/c government 70 series 45 ACP no bells or whistles, was a retirement gift 40-years ago, and now my EDC, my secondary S&W 2" 44 mag. 5 shot revolver, in case I run into a bare in the woods. Response time, matters, the lighter you carry as well.
Working for who you do, it isn’t surprising that you carry a 1911. I have no use for lights on my EDC’s since I basically don’t go out a night and don’t want the extra weight. I love 1911s since they are so easy to shoot well. I do have a couple of double stack 1911’s in my carry rotation that are great. In my opinion the only negative to carrying one over other alternatives is the weight.
Tisas Service, 24lb recoil spring (flat wire), full length guide rod , thicker firing pin stop, high lb firing pin spring (drop safe), higher lb hammer return spring, drop in grip safety, Valkyrie Dynamic Bushing comp, Underwood 255grn .45 super Hard cast or .45 HST +p 230grn, 10 rnd Wilson Combat mag. My EDC because Murica.
I have been carrying a full size Wilson Combat Hackathorn Special since February. I used suspenders for awhile to get used to the heft. But now I move like a ballerina with the thing on. I use all Galco equipment SB2 belt, Mag pouch and Combat Master Holster. My 4 o'clock push-pull draw is faster than most people’s appendix . And when people see me draw and shoot they don't question my weapon choices they question their life choices. Climb to glory excellent video subbed and liked!!!
Know what? I'll admit it; if I worked for Colt for instance? In a similar capacity as this guy does for his place? I'd carry a Lightweight Commander pretty much full time.
Im definitely better with a full sized handgun. From 20 yards i definitely can shoot tighter groups then with my edc 365. But i can still hit a man sized target out to 100 yards fairly easy with my 365 and from 50 and in im definitely a minute of man shooter with it. When you factor in how easy it is to carry for hours on end with zero printing and the reality of actually pulling it I find ease of carry more important. Yes my groups are larger but what does that actually matter? Im going to hit the target with it every time and thats plenty for me. Carrying a big gun is hard and uncomfortable when we are talking having it on you for 12 hours. It depends on your actual true threat level is.
I have a volt 1911 in 45acp. I qualified expert pistol in the navy using a government model colt 45acp. It's what I know best and feel most comfortable with.
Love 1911s won’t carry one during the summer even with my commander scandium/ alloy frame they tend to just be heavier. But you’re carrying 4k+ guns before you add anything too. I’d hope they wouldn’t malfunction. Most people areent spending that on a gun.
I carry my 1911 sometimes but even I know I have a good chance of being outgunned if I get into a situation. Sometimes you just have to accept that you might not make it back home.
I don't think there is a good chance of you being out gunned. You can have a 30rd or 8rd mag and there is always a chance you could be out gunned, but likely not. More likely you will be fine than outgunned.
@@jrengo87 That is true, there is a good chance that I won’t get into a situation to begin with. Even then I would try to deescalate the situation before it gets out of hand.
I’ve daily carry a 1911 since 1985, I carried one on duty for a vast majority of my career , until I was forced to carry a Glock 21 ( but still carried a 1911 off duty). But in all honesty the Glock 19 ( for that matter any Glock) that’s modified, leads to issues with them. I’ve seen this so many times in firearms class, schools and competitions.
I carry several different handguns, and one of them is a Colt LWC .45. I practice with all my firearms and feel comfortable with all of them manual safety or not.
1911 is my favorite. I EDC a Staccato P or a Nighthawk GRP .45. If I could, one of those would be my work EDC, but we're forced to have a P320... in .40 Short & Wimpy :( But if I'm, not at work, you can bet I probably have one of those with me.
I typically carry an hk mp5k on a single point sling under a button up shirt with no less than 8 magazines alongside a backup vp9 with no less than 6 magazines and this is just my “run to the convenience store” loadout. You can never be too careful in today’s society. I live in constant fear and leaving the house with no less than 200 rounds on hand is my bare minimum. You never know when you’ll be attacked by a gang of upwards of 10 bloodthirsty individuals and I want to be prepared….
I used to carry Kimber 1911 compact in .45 but I noticed Everytime I took it too the range I would go damn near broke shooting it. So I switched out to a Glock 17
Why I will only carry a gun that I can practice with on a regular basis. Whatever it is, THAT is by far the most important factor.
Exactly

I'm not a purest by any means but when I carry a 1911 its in .45
Agreed
I've have owned about 10 1911s in my life. Learned it during army officers training in 1980. Still have 6 1911s. All in .45. Wore on on my hip during the Rodney King Riots in 1992. Wore one on my hip working my way through law school in a gun shop. I have thermopolymer framed, stroker fired wonderinines, and Browninf High Power, but a 1911 .45 auto in my hand never left me feeling undergunned.
All I carry . Fits my hand it always runs like a boss all day everyday and throws the freedom where I need them .
At 14 I learned on my dad's 1911. At 20 I qualified expert pistol in the Navy on a 1911 and that was 50 years ago. All I've ever carried is a 1911 pattern pistol.

Nobody ever said from an actual war "I used my .9mm and stopped multiple attackers" .
I have owned and carried a variety of Colts, Springfields, and one Kimber. All of them have been totally reliable and easy to carry, handle, and shoot. I'll stay with the 1911.

@@Ghostyx1989 I was so surprised at how much I loved my MilSpec that I bought a second one. And they’re both in numerical order.

I have carried a 1911 for 45-46 years I never felt this was a problem.
You have been correct for 46 years!
i have carryed a 1911 of one form or another sence i was in viet nam 54 years ago my edc is a tisas commander lightweight in 45acp im old so i use iron sights just easer for me keep up the good work

You put forth very good points. I've tried a best selling striker fired handgun and I've tried a bargain priced 1911 .45. I don't like the striker fired system very much but I absolutely like the 1911 better than anything else I have tried.
I’m too poor to edc and maintain a 1911. Tupperware gun gang.

I carry what my back feels like I should carry that day. Being a diesal mechanic has its drawbacks. Somedays good somedays bad.
First rule of being a diesel mechanic: Learn how to spell diesel.
@@wehrewulf
Hard disagree on the "goes for any pistol". Personally, I can't stand IWB.
I feel this. Carry what you shoot the best and what you are the most comfortable with. 1911’s having a grip and thumb safety makes them very safe to carry cocked and locked.
That second 1911 one in .45 ported is by far the best looking on that table especially with the chrome/black combo.
It’s rad
Love it here in north Texas
If you can stop the threat at 60 yards with iron sights, no need to change.
Carry what you are comfortable, confident, and competent with. I’m just glad you’re carrying. Personally I need different guns for different activities, weather/time of year, and different dress, and that also suit my slim/skinny frame.
Nice collection !! My edc is Colt 1911 government model 45 acp !! Thanks for the video !!
Perfecto EDC!!!! Carry it proudly
Love'em! 😎
I'm one of the lucky ones that got a fully reliable Kimber LW aluminum frame. Absolute pleasure to carry.
When the bullets jam like that, just bend your extractor so it’s not gripping the bullets so tight . “1911s have a couple hundred rounds before you break them in”
That comes from the extractor pin thing loosening over time.
Perfect
That's because you bought a POS Ruger.
I've just recently purchased my 1st 1911. Sad to say I am 48, and just now getting my first one. Not a Cabot, sadly my wallet couldn't make that happen.lol I now have a springfield ronin in .45. I much prefer 1911s for the same reasons you speak of in your video. However, striker-fire polymer platforms are just so much more affordable for the "common man's'" income. It is the price point that generally keeps people away from reliable, highly accurate 1911s - not the platform alone.
Springfield Armory or Colt will serve you just fine for $800-1000 out of the box.

No thanks.
I carry my Kimber Ultra Carry 2 most every day. Also sometimes carry my Ruger SR1911 Target. Both great mid range guns.
I've carried a cocked and locked 1911 every day for 35 years. It's the best pistol for self-defense, especially if you know how and when to use it.
I got tired of lugging one around
I have since switched to a glock 17 and now a canik tp9sa mod 2. It's had gobs and gobs of ammo through it and has yet to fail.
That’s what you want…. Ole reliable
I too switched from a compact 9 Tupperware gun back to my Kimber LW. 5", light, reliable (I know 😂), and I'm great with it. Iron sights, no attachments. Somehow, it's even more comfortable, but I carry strong side. I'm not a fudd, it just works for me.
You are a fudd and so am I…. Wear it proudly
Nice choice, although carry 230 gr HST hollow points. FMJ will over penetrate. Just something to think about 😊
I EDC a Girsan MC1911S.

My second time watching this, so I decided to chime in. Why do most people who say that the safety on a 1911 will get you killed, own AR15's with safeties that should be on/off with almost every shot??
I would imagine when a rifle becomes involved it’s not a split second decision and you have to pull your handgun out of a holster.
I agree…. and have a couple 1911’s…. I like the thumb safety, I’m comfortable with it, AND the grip safety… I even have a 22LR in the 1911 format and have so much fun with it as a practice gun
For a long time I carried a .357 revolver for a lot of the same reasons. Couldn’t see trading in 7 .357 for 7 9mm
Nice
When I was only shooting them at the range, I was so much better with the 19/2011s that I spent 7 months drilling that safety off draw so I could carry them. My EDC is a Wilson Combat EDCX9 or the SFT9. I will say, when on a trip to the beach, I switch to my HK USP LEM in 9mm because very tight tolerances and beach sand/salt don't go well together.
I love all types of striker pistols. I point and hit best with my Les Baer SRP 1911 so that’s what I carry. It’s a very accurate brick & I love it!
That’s rare today. When did you get it?
I dont have an issue with your choice but using a heavily modified glock 19 as a benchmark for striker-fired handgun reliability is a rather silly thing to do in my opinion
It’s b roll…..

THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I BELIEVE THAT THE 1911 IS THE SAFEST.
Cool carry guns! First time I've seen your channel, but that's about $20,000 worth of 1911s, on a conservative estimate. Nice. I hope to one day be able to look at that without wondering what organ I'd have to sell to be able to afford it lol
For now, I stick with Glock 19s because they're afforadable and I'm proficent with them. I have to work a bit harder to get there than with a nicely tuned 1911, but I'll get there.
Yeah that’s safe estimate, and yes I am lucky to be able to have these in the rotation! Keep at it

I have a Zev OZ9c do not use the 2lbs striker spring people. Standard or 3lb minimum. Ends the light strike issue.
Man, those are some high-end guns, I, too, need to work for Alchemy and Cabot
It has its benefits
What i love about the .45acp 1911 is the brute firepower it has. If you want to stop a thief cold this gun will definitely do it. I love the Colt Gold Cup and the FNX .45 ACP has 15 round magazine capacity. The hollow point ammunition is awesome. A Colt Defender is a great concealable weapon that will give you protection at a affordable price. Ruger also makes a goid 1911 as well. Wilson Combat is another onethat performs well.
For EDC/CW I carry a 1911 Wilson Combat (since 1998) .45 Security Grade "Protector". Only iron sights.
When I speak at ranges in classes, I always tell jack’s story
A true American hero
My edc is a 1911 government which Ive customized. Love this video. Thanks.
Nice!
The reason i don't carry a 1911:
1)Weight
2)Limited Capacity
3)Price
4) reliability- extra maintenance
But i do really think their cool and i really like the design.
Stay safe.
Carry what you want and can shoot! For me… it’s a 1911
training in every possible scenario you can, what you carry is what you can afford to carry,
its not the round or the whatever you carry its the marksmanship. Retired USDM, 26-years,
my service carry Colt 1911/c government 70 series 45 ACP no bells or whistles, was a
retirement gift 40-years ago, and now my EDC, my secondary S&W 2" 44 mag. 5 shot revolver, in case I run into a bare in the woods. Response time, matters, the lighter you carry
as well.
They are bulky, but they are too good not to carry.
You just got a new grateful subscriber!
1911's rock. Kds9c rocks I hate plastic. Mag quality and ammo design can make all the difference in semi autos. Good vid , valid points 👍
Tisas Service, 24lb recoil spring (flat wire), full length guide rod , thicker firing pin stop, high lb firing pin spring (drop safe), higher lb hammer return spring, drop in grip safety, Valkyrie Dynamic Bushing comp, Underwood 255grn .45 super Hard cast or .45 HST +p 230grn, 10 rnd Wilson Combat mag. My EDC because Murica.
I won't argue with that - salute

I carry a variety of guns, full size or otherwise, depending on situation and/or outfits.
Very Nivce.....You'll like the video I just posted!
Now I know why I have never heard of Cabot guns and $5000 are unit. It’s a little bit beyond my price range..
Know what? I'll admit it; if I worked for Colt for instance? In a similar capacity as this guy does for his place? I'd carry a Lightweight Commander pretty much full time.
Finally!!!! An honest person on the interwebs!
1911 = GOAT
If carry was allowed in my country it would be my 1911.... I like all of its features and I can run it in my sleep...
Go back to the 1911, you know you want to
I carry several different handguns, and one of them is a Colt LWC .45. I practice with all my firearms and feel comfortable with all of them manual safety or not.
Do people like to shoot the Glock series guns? I enjoy shooting my 1911s. Glocks stay home. Its logical to carry what you practice the most with.
1911 is my favorite. I EDC a Staccato P or a Nighthawk GRP .45. If I could, one of those would be my work EDC, but we're forced to have a P320... in .40 Short & Wimpy :( But if I'm, not at work, you can bet I probably have one of those with me.
Oh lord not only a 320…. But a fawty??? Sorry to hear about that dreaded combo
those are some big firearms, but they point so well. I love seeing some 1911-love in a world of plastic.
Love me the 1911
Why do people care? Just carry what you want to carry and are comfortable shooting. Sheez!
Better safe than sorry
No hate. As long as you can protect yourself and yours, it doesn’t matter. From 22LR to 500S&W.
True
I used to carry Kimber 1911 compact in .45 but I noticed Everytime I took it too the range I would go damn near broke shooting it. So I switched out to a Glock 17
